Worst WDW Desserts!

I was disappointed in Ghirardelli's. The ice cream was soft (and it was not soft ice cream that we ordered!).

The ice cream cookie sandwich from Sleepy Hollow... YUCK!!!
I had one at the MS Bakery and was so excited about trying one from SH.
The cookies had so much lard/butter/margarine whatever fat they used that they looked almost transparent and floppy. I thought it's cookies and ice cream how bad could it be?
Well I was wrong, the 2 of us tried but could only go thru half without gagging...

next time i'll stick with the MS Bakery

I also am one who does not understand the hype about Dole Whips. They were OK but certainly not something I would go out of my way to get. If we are ever in the area again and I need a snack I might try the float to see if it is any better.

The worst dessert I had was probably the tie-died cheesecake at Pop. It looks very interesting but it really is not very good.

Years ago Dole Whip used to be MUCH better but like with all things that Disney perceives as a value it has been degraded. It was a large parfait glass with a hunk of fresh pineapple in it. It was not the junk it is now but more like a sorbet made from pineapple.

It was our favorite quick pick me up at MK. I usually get one in the hopes that it will be back to its previous glory. It never is.

Oh yeah, I remember that!

Im not a fan of Dole whips too much either, I dont like fruit and Milk products mixed together. :crazy2: However my DH LOVES them. So I get the float and give him the ice cream quickly after and just drink the juice which isnt bad.
Most of what we have tried we really liked, however the frozen bannana at AK was horrible, It was rock hard and then when it was finally soft enought to eat without brain freeze it didnt taste very good. So I ate all the chocolate off and threw out the bananna.

I didn't really care for the frozen bananas in AK either... and I like the frozen bananas at the state fair.

Could someone please explain to me what exactly a dole whip is? Does it really taste like cool whip? ( I really can't stand cool whip)

I didn't like the churros - It was dry and way too crispy - it was like eating a twig coated with cinnamon and sugar.

Key lime tarts at Cape May Clambake.

I like key lime pie, but these were so small that the crust overwhelmed the filling.

BUT

The key lime pie at Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's is very good.

They don't taste like anything. That's the problem. Add me to the list of folks that don't understand the hype.

I must confess. Like the OP, I don't like like Dole Whips.
I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders admitting it. wheew!
and believe me, I live for dessert!

While we're confessing, I have to say that I don't like those Zebra Domes at BOMA. I can't figure out the appeal of them...I thought they were yucky! :crazy2:

I have to agree about the dross rock bananas at AK. Also if you aren't fond of dole whips try it with chocolate soft serve . I like them but its too much pineapple.

Ice Cream I can buy anytime, and Key Lime Pie I can make too, so, there is nothing much dessert wise I really need to eat at WDW......except the Fudge! :p I LOVE the Fudge, and the candy in Italy, I want to buy a bag to take home, but, I know it will melt before I get there. :guilty:

Most disappointing:

Key Lime Creme Brulee at Narcoosees....I suppose it was really good if you like Key Lime. Somehow I'd forgotten that I really don't.

Zebra Domes.....just didn't live up to the hype. Without the hype they wouldn't have been bad. With the hype they were so disappointing. Ours were sort of stale.

I used to like Dole Whips, but my sweet tooth has diminished. Its the same taste, its just sweeter than what I want to be eating nowadays.

Do tell...how do you get a diminishing sweet tooth?? I want (read: need) one of those!!! :rotfl2:

My sentiments exactly! Kinda bummed about it too! I thought the zebra domes would be really good. Also, I had a really bad cherry turnover at Main Street Bakery. It was way too sweet! Put it this way, the ones at Arby's are way better!

Didn't have any really great desserts on this trip, but my favorite was about 7 years ago at Concourse Steak House. They had a Contemporary shaped chocolate mousse in layers with chocolate and raspberry syrup drizzled on it. I will NEVER forget that dessert. I don't know why they didn't keep serving it. :sad2:

The best dessert I ever had was at the Cali Grill about 8 or 9 years ago...it was a chocolate peanut butter souffle....and it was GREAT!!!! I believe they took it off the menu...I don't know, we never went back! Too many other places to try! :goodvibes

The worst dessert was the "strawberry shortcake" at HDDR it was strawberries mashed beyond recognition atop a stale chunk of "cake" :crazy2:

I don't know if this is a real dessert, but it is to me; is the beignets at POFQ yummy any time of day! :lovestruc

AlaskaMom, have got to agree with you about the beignets at POFQ!!! First time we stayed there I tried them and holy cow!! I got addicted to them!! DH finally quit sending me for coffee and beignets in the mornings because by the time I got back, they were gone!!! Drove him crazy because at that time I was a skinny tall drink of water and never gained an ounce!! Told him that the ones I ate were diet!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
Anyway, we stay there all the time, him because he likes the atmosphere and me for the BEIGNETS! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Is there such things as "penny" candy????? I remember 30 years ago when I was young we had penny candy, but now when I buy stuff for the kids at the corner store the cheapest stuff is now .5 cents. :earseek: Yes .5 cents. :earseek: Hmmmmm how the days have come and gone.:sad2:
