Taken from the phobia thread....not meaning to be morbid or sad, but what is the LAST way you'd want to die??

Poll coming..

Long, slow, painful death from cancer..

For me, it's a tossup between by fire and drowning...but I chose drowning, because I can't even watch the movie Abyss without having a hard time breathing!! The thought of being caught under water truly does terrify me :scared:

wow I hate this thread :rotfl:, I guess murder, its just such a violent unnatural ending

I voted drowning. Ug, even the thought of it is making my chest feel tight. Ditto on The Abyss reference!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know, not a great thread...but I saw on the phobia thread someone is afraid they will fall to their death, and I thought of how awful that would be too...

At least with murder, it'd be quick.... (hopefully)

I don't want to die any other way than peacefully in my sleep.

any concious death. Do I win?

Mikeeee

Burns hurt more than anything...except maybe torture. So, if the murder is getting shot or choked, I'll take the murder. But if it is going to be a long, drawn out torture, I guess I'll take the burn.

Of everything I've seen and all I've heard from other nurses, the LAST thing I'd want is to be badly burned. I had a friend quit it because she "got tired of listening to little kids scream while I scraped their skin off." She's a lot like me in many ways. I always tell people that I quit hospice because "I got tired of answering, 'I watch people die' when asked what I did for a living", so I understand the comment. She did three years of pediatric burns and I don't think she'll ever get over it.

I heard the horror stories. Burn victims suffer just unbelievably. Wouldn't want it for me or anyone I loved, that's for damn sure.

I answered that drowning would be the worst, but I think that all the choices listed are pretty horrible. I think that burning or drowning might be the absolute worst ways to die just because of the amount of time you'd have to think and panic before consciousness was lost. Ugh, I'm getting the shudders just thinking about it.

All are horrible choices, but I've always had a fear of drowning. To not be able to breathe.....scary. I suppose you'd pass out before long so the pain wouldn't last long.

Now burning and murder are starting to sound really scary.

like most people, I'd also *like* to die in my sleep if I had a choice....

Well, in a book I read you would hallucinate if you drowned..so that would be horrid. If I was burned at the stake or something, the smoke would get me first so I am not afraid of that...I think being buried alive because not only are you stuck in a dark place with no escape and the air is leaving, but you CANNOT get out. (Unless you are the Bride in Kill Bill)

God bless you.
You are an angel. You know I want to go into nursing but under no circumstances will I go into hospice.

I'm not really sure.

I've come fairly close to drowning twice already, tho. I'm not even exactly sure how I got out the first time (I was about 6-7 years old then), because I remember screaming for help before I went under and no one hearing me (I even remember looking for any life-guards and the ones I saw were just standing around and talking to each other). And I know no one helped me get out, but I do remember eventually being out, coughing up a lot of water and going up to the teachers (it was during some Summer Church program thing) and the teachers just giving me this look and being all "Are you ok?"

Some supervisors they were. :sad2:

But honestly, I don't think that that's the worst way to die. It's like...you just lose all the fear/panic once you realize (or think you realize, really) that it's the end and then...yeah. I don't really know how to explain it. :headache:

I think that disease would be the worst way to die, for me. Because with disease, you have to deal with not only your pain, but watching the emotional pain of your loved ones as well. That would be torture. :sad1:

I picked drowning because I think I would have to be in a really bad spot since I'm such a good swimmer.

Burning would be the worst, but I hope that the smoke would get me first.
