Turkey was done WAAAAAY too early so by the time we were ready to eat it the only thought that came to mind was "coarse- grade sandpaper".. I'm thinking about saving it for when we strip the hardwood floors..

Mashed potatoes?? Gonna save a bundle on Elmers Glue this year.. I'll just put it in jars and use it when I do Christmas crafts with my granddaughter..

Biscuits?? Could probably use them for that sponge-painting project I've been putting off..

Gravy?? One lump or two? Put some in the dog's dish and he immediately peed on the floor..

Haven't tried the pies yet.. Will have to get back to you on that as soon as we all return from having our stomachs pumped..........

Sorry.:(

There's always cheese and crackers or cereal.
Hope the pies are tasty.

Awww C.Ann... I am sure it wasn't that bad! Anyway it isn't about the food you eat, but who you are sharing the food with :)

Okay, so maybe it was the best thanksgiving dinner you ever made but like it or not, you probably made some pretty funny and good memories today.

I know you made me smile :)

My son-in-law was so adorable.. Never said a single word as he was choking everything down but as he was leaving he gave me a wink and said, "Maybe next year I can cook for YOU!!"

DD was so tired from working 18 hours straight I think I could have given her dog food and she wouldn't have known the difference..

Granddaughter was an angel as always and just kept saying she was thankful for having the "best Grandma in the whole wide world - all the way up to the sky and back.."

And DH?? All he said was, "Can I have some of that pumpkin pie now?????" :)

You're right.. It's about the people - and I have the BEST!!

Now...............time to get busy planning that Christmas menu.....;)

I'm sorry things didn't turn out, but I am ROTFLOL at your descriptions. :teeth:

C.Ann~ Sorry to hear that, but the best part is that your family was together. :) I must admit that I'm ROTFL at your post! Thanks for the laugh!:p :p :p

C.Ann I have the opposite...dh complained that NO NORMAL FAMILY has thanksgiving dinner before 5 pm , and that I was crazy to want to feed them at 2. That made me furious!! Not to even mention that I spent 4 hours cooking and guess what they ate?? veggies only!! So guess what??? Next year I'M NOT COOKING!!!!
Needless to say that I did not have a good thanksgiving day!

Ouch! Hims in BIG TROUBLE!!!!!!!!

The cooks are always hardest on themselves. I bet it was all fine. My SIL was complaining the turkey was dry, I thought it was delish. As long as I'm not cooking I'm happy and grateful and thankful!

I'm sure it wasn't that bad. And even if it was, the good thing about Thanksgiving food is that you can always eat cranberry sauce with every bite to cover it all up. :)

My turkey was done right on time, tender and juicy. Stuffing piping hot and loaded with sausage, cranberries and apples. The potatos were whipped up light and fluffy. My gravy was smooth and lumpless. The sweet potatos were whipped with butter, brown sugar, baking spice and covered with lightly golden marshmallows.

All cooked to and ready to eat at two o'clock.

So why did everyone get here at two and then it was almost 3 before they all settled down to eat.

Oh well it was still really really good.

I'm sure you shared several good laughs over dinner.:) Besides, this will make a memorial Thanksgiving story to tell for years to come.:teeth:

Oh my! :)
C.Ann, did something happen or will you take up your son-in-law's offer? ;)

OMG C.Ann. Sorry, but I am ROFLMAO. Just sit back, laugh about it and like Shannon said, you now have a very memorable Thanksgiving dinner under your belt.

I am sure it wasn't as bad as you described it. (the part about the dog still has me laughing!):teeth:

LOL, C.Ann! That reminds me of our last year's Thanksgiving dinner. I cooked everything myself, because it was just to be the four of us. It was awful!! It was so bad that we laughed till we almost cried, while we ate. :o Ohhhh!

This year my parents came down. My mother and I cooked together. It was soooo good. We actually celebrated yesterday, and we enjoyed leftovers today. Last year's memories were fun to relive while we ate the "good" food this year, though! :) :)
