Worst ride experiences?

This isn't really a bad experience but it was a breakdown. We were riding Spiderman when our vehicle started to smoke. They shut down the ride and turned up the lights and escorted us out. Something had seized in the mechanics.

Once on Kong our tram stopped and was dangling in the air for what seemed to be forever.

I also hurt my neck on the Back to the Future ride. I couldn't turn my head for about three days.

No experience at Uni or Disney will even match the scary little Kiddieland in Schererville, Indiana, that DH and I used to visit early in our marriage. When I was a kid, it was actually a decent place. When I reached adulthood, it was a downright danger. They had a Galaxy coaster, but the tires that spin on the track to get you to the chain lift didn't work. Everyone in the car had to grab the bars and pull it along to the lift. DH and I still laugh about it and marvel that we dared to ride that thing. They had a Bamboozler that was all overgrown with weeds and rusty and falling apart. I figured it was junk, but then people got on and they started it up one day. We were shocked! That place is long since closed down now but it has a fond place in my memory.

We had a rough day trying to ride spiderman a couple years ago. DH and I had been on it before, but my sister and cousin had not.

First attempt: Lights come up (I think) and video cuts out--but the ride continues on with just sound.

Second attempt: Make it about 1/2 way through before the same thing happens again

Third attempt: Ride just completly stops a minute in, then returns us to the exit with no effects/sound/video

Fourth attempt: Finally, we get the whole way through with the ride elements intact :lmao:

It was pretty funny. I also got stuck in complete darkness on ToT for maybe 15 minutes. I was sort of ok with it, but there were a couple people who had never been on it and they were starting to freak out a little.

My worst ride experience.... 6 flags on the Texas Giant.
I almost died :scared1:

Just as we made the first down hill (yeah the BIG ONE)
my lap bar BROKE and I came out of my seat.. :scared1:
My DH was next to me and grabbed me and we held on for dear life ~ scared the you know what right out of me ...almost had to change the drawers...

The worst part is they have an on ride camera and it took a lovely shot of the complete HORROR of my face as I am holding onto a broken lap bar in my hands :rotfl2:
Of course DH had to buy that photo as a memento :rolleyes1

Of course they offered for me to ride it AGAIN due to the issues I had :sad2:
errrr.... I passed on that offer :rotfl:

That ride did me in back around 2003, won't ever catch me on it again.

Second Spiderman, always breaks down. And you are in pure darkness. I thought it was a part of the ride, didn't even try to go back on it.

My worst experience was a few weeks ago when we went to Sea World. We are passholders so we get to ride that stupid Skytower for free. My dh and girls went on it the day before and talked me into it the next day. So yeah, of course, it shuts down near the top for 30 minutes. I am okay with heights, I mean I love Kraken. But being stuck inside that thing for that long, not knowing how we would get down was freaky.

I actually think they had to manually crank us down, dunno. Never seen anyone go out the exit so fast, lol!

Cute post by the way~

my first time to ride hulk, i didn't get in the seat for bigger folks(6'4", 280lbs). not wanting to be embarrassed-me or the attendant, he absolutely used his foot to help get the restraint buckled. i had sucked out all the air in my lungs, and the ride had already started when i found out i couldn't even expand my chest to take in air--so i spent the next 2.5hrs(the ride had to have been that long!!) lightly puffing in and out just enough air to keep from fainting. i remembered nothing of the ride, and didn't ride again for 5yrs. - this time in the right seat which was awesome. moral of the story, embarrassement is way down the totem pole compared to breathing!
Sounds like what happened to me cause I am a big guy 6ft 265 and on Dueling Dragons last year my DW wanted me to sit next to her and they put her in regular seats and me beside her and the tm had to push the harness with her knee and swear I couldn't breath for 20 mins after the ride and my ribs were killing me

I remember going to US the year it opened. BTTF, jaws, hannah barabera, and king kong were all broken and not working, ghostbusters was also not running. We went on earthquake and it broke while we were on it, and queuing up for Et as we got near the door to get in the ceiling collapsed because of a burst pipe hehe so they shut that as well.

As we left everyone was being given a ticket to come back again, so we kept it til the next year.

When we went back, jaws was still not working, earthquake and king kong were broken and so was ET hehe so we left.

When we got back home we wrote and complained and we got another load of free tickets.

I think it was about 4+ years until jaws was working

Mine was similar. Don't remember the exact year but it was pretty soon after it opened. On our only day there Earthquake, ET and King Kong were down all day, we went to customer service and they gave us one "front of the line pass" for Jaws, we were told to go to the handicap entrance to use it. They they kept us waiting so long to use it that we might as well have stood in the regular line. It was many, many, many years before I returned to Universal.

I'm with Coach 81 - BTTF was the worst! I didn't know at the time that I had a sensitivity to those types of rides. I got on, and was green the entire time! I got off the ride, and I ended up getting sick right outside the ride (I was 21 at the time...a LITTLE embarrasing for me!)

my worst experince was the 7 straight times in a row my 41/2 yr old grand daughter 'made' me ride Woody Woodpecker's coaster with her.....on, off, hurry around, on, off, hurry around..... ahh.. what we do for love

Twister. I waited in line for an hour for that piece of... Yeah, that's one hour of life I'm never getting back.

Not long ago a CM ruined the Simpsons for us and everyone in our vehicle. Halfway through the ride she used some sort on speaker to say, Sir, put down the camera. About 20 seconds later she said it again. Then she said, In the back row, put down the camera!

My husband, son and I were in the back row along with a stranger. I leaned forward to look at the stranger and his hands were clasped in front of him.
She would not let up and when the ride ended, a young man rushed into the room and looked us all over. My husband complained about the young woman and the young man apologized.

If I'd been thinking, I would have asked for a second ride for all of us as the CM definitely destroyed the experience. We still don't know what her problem was but she was very annoying.

Considering it is against copyright laws to film or take pictures inside the building; the controls attendants have to tell you to put your camera away. Not being there, she may have gone about this the wrong way, but she was just doing here job.

As far as a reride, if you were the one taking pictures or filming and did not put your camera away; you do not deserve a reride. If it was a mistake or was not you, then you should have absolutely asked for a reride.

Yes there is a camera and speaker system than can see and hear each and every car with astonishing clarity. (yes we can see and hear what you say)

Yet somehow they still tape it and you can view it on youtube!!:sad2:
