Worst Ride Experience..I lost it on Mission Space

I hate ITTBAB, that ride creeps me out. When I took my daughters on it as children, both of them freaked out and we haven't been back since.

I pretty much know what I can tolerate as far as thrill rides, I don't do them with the exception of Splash. For some reason I can do that one...go figure. But we took my MIL for the first time several years ago and we got on Soarin' and she basically freaked out within the first 60 seconds. She looked at me and said "get me off this thing!" I told her to not look at the screen and she'd be okay. She is not one to get upset easily so I knew she was serious.

Carousel of Progress... My wife's friends said it was one of her favorite attractions so we decided to ride it. There was a mechanical issue in which we were stuck between the 2nd and 3rd stages. The CM's or whoever operates the attraction kept trying to back it up and then have it go forward again. We kept hearing the "It's a great big beautiful tomorrow" song start and stop over and over and over again. We were stuck on it for over 45 minutes before they finally came and escorted us off the ride. To this day we laugh about it but still have not ridden it again.

Close second.. Being stuck on IASW for about 30 minutes towards the end of the ride and hearing the song over and over again.

I'm guessing that we should just give up on those kinds of rides..

Lol! We got stuck on IASW a few years ago, it felt like about the same amount of time, but that could be because of the horrendous music playing over and over and over and over...

They really ought to have a kill switch for the soundtrack on such rides when they have to be paused for whatever reason, it kills the magic when you hear the soundtrack on repeat.

I like to torture my mom by asking her to go on IASW, she HATES that ride but she can't resist when her grandkids ask her to do things so she ends up riding it, but that trip it backfired and even I was sick of the demonic singing dolls by the time the ride started moving again. I've had more than my fill of the ride after that experience and I wouldn't care if I never step foot into one of those boats again.

Worst ever was teacups at King's Island. A buddy and I thought it would be fun to spin really fast & make our girlfriends queasy. Well, karma's a...pain. Made myself so sick that I spent half the day on the edge of throwing up. Looking back, I should've just hurled and got it over with. Never been on a teacup ride since.

At WDW, worst was Primeval Whirl, believe it or not. I was very hot (probably overheated) and had just rode EE twice. I think there was some residual queasiness from that. Did PW and felt ill, but stuck it out. Kids wanted to do it again so I decided to tough out a 2nd ride for them. Almost lost it....

M:S doesn't bother me, for some reason. It's in my WDW top 5 attractions.

You realize that those non-swinging cars actually go higher above the ground, right?

Yes, I mentioned I'm not afraid of heights at all. I would have been fine in the higher, non-swinging car.

I live 10 minutes from Kings Island and grew up near it too! I get way more freaked out on stuff there than I ever do at WDW. Although, the backwards Racer always felt safer to me than the front facing side. I would always rise out of my seat when going frontwards and feel like I was going to fly out of the coaster. Now they have better harnesses, and I'm larger so it's not an issue!

At WDW, the WORST experience I've had was when I was a teenager. My sister and I were stuck on Splash Mountain for about 45 minutes. We heard the Laughing Place song over, and over, and over, and over..... We came very close to stabbing our eyes out!

Turns out now it's my kids' favorite ride and the song is among their favorite Disney songs!

I grew up near there and the King Cobra I had issues with and the Screamin Demon.

I just remembered a ride I took in 2011 at Knoebel's called the Hamster Wheel. It's a big wheel that spins in one direction and you sit in a smaller 'hamster' wheel with someone else and spin around in the opposite direction:

I'm pretty well Pooh-sized (that's me in the orange), and so the hamster wheel was spinning around at breakneck speed counterclockwise while the big wheel went fast clockwise...and I thought, "here's where I die, on a hamster wheel." I got off and the vertigo was so bad and my stomach was churning so much I had to sit down for several minutes with my eyes closed. That's the only time I've ever been done in by a ride.

I live near Knoebels, but I have not been there in quite a few years. There's just no way in h e double hockey sticks I'd get in that thing!

Two words: Summit Plummet.

OMG still laughing!! I (and most of my family) are thrill seekers yet none of us dared Summit Plummet last year!!!! We did Hulk and Dragon Challenge at Uni multiple times. I worked Six flags in STL in high school. We have one of the best Coasters in the country at Silver Dollar City and we LOVE it but Summit Plummet? No way Jose.

A few years ago at Disneyland I was on Space Mountain when it E-stopped and the lights came on. Super cool I thought! I always wanted to see this. After 10 minutes (really probably less) of no communication from the CMs I realized how tight the lap bar was and that we really were trapped. I started hyperventilating and sweating. It didn't help that it was raining that day and I was wearing multiple layers. I kept pushing up on the bar. Finally, I pulled out my phone and played tetris to calm me down. We were probably on there for 15 min before we were walked out, but it seriously feld like an eternity.

Love SM-don't know if Disney still does this but many many years ago I got to volunteer to ride Space Mountain (at WDW) over and over with the lights on (was on the college Program and the imagineers were testing a new braking system.) Scarier with lights on but I love this ride!

Love Mission Space (orange all the way) and RnR but for some reason this past trip ToT freaked me out!! My girls are laughing hysterically with their hands IN THE AIR on the drops and I'm screaming holding on for dear life! MM worth the price just for that vid and photos!

I am crying reading this thread. It's so great to know I'm not the only one.

A lot of these rides I can squeak by with breathing and closing my eyes. I still have never tried ToT even though my daughter begs me every year. I keep thinking maybe one day, but after puking on a free fall ride at Six Flags, I know that's not for me.

My mom still talks about her pukefest after Body Wars. She begged to go on it and then paid for it. Lol

My wife had an unexpected bad case of claustrophobia on Sum of All Thrills on our honeymoon. She had to push the stop button just before the ride started. The cast members were great with her and we got her calmed down and she still wanted to watch me ride. She was fine after that and we had a great, romantic day.

I don't like twisty-turny-spiny rides due to dizziness. My DD wanted me to ride the teacups with her and I was very, very concerned about vertigo. What I did was to sit opposite of her and stare at her the whole time. It worked! Then rode a similar ride at Silver Dollar City with some relatives. The young adults got it spinning extremely fast. The staring trick didn't work. I was so dizzy that I couldn't even try to get off the ride for a bit.

I'm actually proud of Imagineering hearing all this about Mission Space. They said they wanted to give people a glimpse of what it was like for astronauts. I remember riding it in soft open I felt a little queasy, didn't do it again until it was reportedly toned down still queasy. So now it's only green team.

The only once had an issue on a ride and it was during a Passholder preview of Countdown to Extinction/Dinosaur. Right at the end of the just after passing under the Carnotaurus and traveling back to the present, the bright lights flashed and the ride broke down. I don't know why but something about that trigger a panic in me. It was pitch black, i knew the ride just broke down but I also knew I was stuck in the seat. So I broke into a terrible stand up routine. I have no idea what possessed me to do it but my nerves were telling me to blabber so I did. I think the other passengers were happy to get off 5 minutes later.

Not exactly the same thing, but last fall I was 17 weeks pregnant with my twins. I was over my horrid morning sickness and everything was going great. One night we went to the late villains meet in the castle during MNSSHP and didn't get on the bus till after 1am. Luckily we were the only people on our bus and I had an empty trick or treat bag handy..... morning sickness came back with a passion. Ugh, it was horrible!

Ok, this is embarrassing but here goes...last week we were in Epcot. DH and DS's love Mission Space. DD not so much. Her and I had not ridden it in years. This year she decided she wanted to give it another go. I remember not loving the experience (green) because tight spaces aren't my thing. While in line I kept hearing the warnings. DD now 11 was excited so I didn't give it too much thought. Until they shut the door on that tuna can . What the heck was I thinking quickly enters my mind. DD is excitedly chirping away. 'Isn't this fun mom?' Oh yes I manage to eek out. Now my heart is racing and I can't catch my breath. That stupid air blowing in my face is not helping. . I am in full blown panic attack, I can laugh now. I am on the end and gently rapping on the door. I am caught between not wanting to ruin DD's experience and not wanting an unsuspecting cast member to find my limp body at the end. When my knocks of terror went unnoticed I decided it best to clench my eyes shut, pray to the dear Lord for mercy and go to my happy place ( all the while answering my daughters million questions and hitting my button at the appropriate time). I'm proud to tell the tale- I lived through it and will never ride it again What was you're worst ride experience and why?

I literally had a full blown panic attack on the orange side. Like.....I started hitting all the buttons and slamming on the door to get out - obvi I just cried and screamed the entire time. My fiance and the 2 kids next to us were like and I was like so yeah....

We get out and it literally ruined my night. I was sick...my heart never raced that fast - I thought I was going to die on that ride. Worst feeling ever - never again.

Now he wants me to go on Everest or Space Mtn but idk after him telling me I would be ok after that ride...

If you go on orange (more intense) again, keep your eyes open. You will feel less dizzy. Keep your eyes on the screen.

I have never been able to ride motion type rides without getting sick, but 30 some yrs. ago I went with my kids and cousins to an amusement park. As soon as we got there my cousins begged me to ride these swings that went really high in the air and then just went around in a circle really fast. I was the adult in the group, but let them talk me into it anyway. As soon as we got off the ride I started throwing up. I think I did make it to the restroom though. I just kept throwing up and at the same time thinking I would feel better soon. That never happened. Finally I had to leave all my kids and cousins there and my mom drove me back to my aunts house. It was horrible because when we got to the parking lot we couldn't find the car and I really felt like I was going to pass out. I remember getting in bed and staying there for days. I think it was at least three days before I started feeling better. All these years I have thought that I must have caught a bug or something on top of riding the ride. Maybe it really did make me that sick for so long? Even now I feel my face turning red with embarrassment when I think about it, knowing I should never had gotten on it in the first place.

My son has selected Mission Space as one of his choices to ride when we go to DW in May. I think I better have him read all these post so he has a good idea if he should ride or not. Will be his first trip and I sure don't want him to spend it feeling ill the entire time!

Body Wars was a very unpleasant simulator experience. I refused to do any more simulators on that trip.

We just got back from WDW yesterday. I did MS green in 2008 and it was ok. We did MS orange this time, and I've never been so happy to get off a ride. I started to have misgivings when I saw the barf bags. I got through the mission, but I felt woozy for about an hour afterwards.

ToT just scares me silly. On one run, the program teased us after the second drop, and I was freaking out waiting for the last one. I actually had one hand in the air, but I couldn't make the other one let go of the seat handle.

We were stuck on that ride for about 45 minutes, too. It took us about ten years to finally go on the Carousel of Progress again because of that.
