Worst Ride Experience..I lost it on Mission Space

Mission Space for me too! Thankfully they had just shut the doors and a cast member heard me knocking to get out! I sat on the "bench of shame" (in my mind anyway!) and waited for my family. A cast member did tell me that is is fairly common for people wanting to get off the ride and not to feel bad about needing to leave! :)

Wasn't at Disney but at Sea World Orlando. There's a ride called Wild Arctic that simulates a helicopter ride thru the arctic. Yeah. NO. Not so much. I have NEVER been ill on a ride in my life until this thing. Made DH so ill, he had to sit down a while afterwards. This was a week and a half ago, and I'm still not really over it.

I've never freaked out on a ride, but we do have a member of our group that is scared of dinosaurs. . .and sadistic bunch that we are, we always ride Dinosaur, and she always says she can handle it. I can NEVER pass up the ride photo. (Note the six year old is fine)
I love dinosaur so much because it is scary (even as a grown man).
It's really dark and really loud. I would be scared to wander around outside the car.
I never wanna see the attraction with lights on because it would ruin how big it seems like it is.

Star Tours. I gave it 2 chances on 2 different trips. Nope! Never again!! I've never been on Mission Space and I have a feeling that I never will!! I'm ok with that!
Do you think it was the 3d? Some people who used to be fine with the old star tours can't handle the 3d part.

Maybe third times a charm and you should try without the glasses :D

Omg I absolutely hated that ride mission space. We we were in the park for an hour, rode Spaceship Earth then headed over to "the ride that shall not be named " as it is referred to in my house! It was horrible, that take off was utterly unbearable, then we sling shot around the moon. Wth...now you want me to be responsible for pressing a button? For a moment I thought we were going to have to go back to earth I don't know if I would have made it I was so nauseous after that ride that we left the park, I was done for the day. Never ever again!!

That must have been awful at the time :sad2: I know people that experience panic attacks, so I understand how bad it can get :scared: It's awesome you're able to look back on that now and laugh about it, though :thumbsup2

Thankfully I can say I don't have any experiences quite like some of these, but my wife's favourite ride is Dinosaur, and I've yet to be able to keep my eyes open for the whole thing :rolleyes1 I know it's not the same, but I'm still kind of embarrassed to admit that

Kali river rApids. Don't want to get that wet if not at a water park. Made fora miserable rest of the day for whole family.

I remember this ride with my husband (boyfriend at the time). This was back when there wasn't a lesser option. I was in the Navigator seat, you have to touch the button twice during the ride. I can remember freaking out during the ride after the first button press. It got back to being my turn again and I had to "push the thrusters" and yelled out "I don't want to push the thrusters!". Got off the ride with my DH and we sat for two hours on a bench, had lunch not too long after that, and spent some time in the bathroom after that. Never doing this ride again, DH calls it the satan ride.

Well, it starts when you uneasily climb up that freaking staircase, and as you make your way up, your fellow guests remind you exactly how high off the ground you are, which is just what you want to hear. This is only then exacerbated by looking behind and noticing that you can see the Contemporary and it seems to appear that you are on par with the heigh of California Grill (you know, the place where it looks like you're looking down on most of the Wishes fireworks). Then, you turn around and have the lovely opportunity of watching those in front of you lie down, cross their legs, scream like the Dickens, and drop straight out of sight (not to worry, we know they're alright because we can still hear them). And this is all before you actually get on the slide.

That's when it gets real fun, because you're asked to assume a very specific position (and if you're like me, your committed to getting and remaining in that exact position out of fear that any slight alteration in that position may result in your sudden and untimely death), while trying to avoid looking down at the well over 100 feet separating you from the ground. Finally, the green light flashes and you find it somewhere in you to push yourself (I reiterate willingly doing so) over the abyss, focusing on trying to maintain that position as (I kid you not) you're blinded by splashing water getting in your face and in areas where no chlorinated water should ever be. That is until the wedgie of all wedgies is formed, and it is at that point that you realize you've just landed (yes, you immediately realize you were slightly and not necessarily voluntarily in freefall for a slight moment) back on the slide, but luckily, you are able to process all that has just occurred just in time for an all-too-friendly Disney PhotoPass photographer to snap a picture of you, the look of sheer horror on your face, and your unevenly tanned exposed thighs (remember, the wedgie...). It's certainly an interesting memory (if you want to call it that), but that photo is certainly one I don't mind expiring from my Disney PhotoPass account.

EXACTLY that!!!

My whole family refused to ride Summit Plummit (even my thrill riding daughter) but since I had paid good money to be in the waterpark, I was going to RIDE IT. The climb up the stairs lasted forever. Getting into position was terrifying. And then that drop into NOTHING! And of course, the wedgie to end all wedgies.

The Photopass dude captured a series of 3 shots that was hilarious. The look of complete shock on my face - priceless.

I rope drop MK to get a jump on the crowds. While most people get caught up in the rush to 7DMT, I go the opposite way to Adventureland to get some no line rides for the first half hour or so. One morning, I quick walked to Pirates, raced through the corridors and stopped at the boat ramp. There was no one else behind me. Just me and the CM. I thought, "Great! I get the boat to myself! I don't have to share! How cool." I got into the boat and as the ride started, it began to sink in. There's no one else. Just me. Alone in this boat. No other people in the boats ahead of me or behind me. And I was completely alone throughout the whole ride. Creepy. Definitely not as cool as you would think. Just. Really creepy. I like Pirates. When you're on the ride and surrounded by other people, its a great, nostalgic, vintage ride. Those mannequins are quaint. But when you are all alone, those mannequins are more than a little scary. I suppose this was a very unique experience and I should be thankful for it. I had the ride to myself. But once was enough. I won't be doing that again.o_O

Mine was at Disneyland on... Nemo. My sister and I took a girl's trip to DL several years ago not long after they re-opened the subs. I really wanted to try it. When it was our turn to board we were first on. I sat there trying to steady my breathing as they loaded everyone else. I almost had a complete meltdown during the ride and was nearly in tears as we waited for our turn to exit (first on, last off) I don't think I'll ever ride that one again. Not even Mickey's Fun Wheel of DEATH or my near panic attack on MS were that bad.

We had a local museum growing up that had a mine simulator where you 'took an elevator down into the mine' (the doors closed and it shook but it never actually moved all) that produced the same reaction. And while I get sick/nauseated at IMAX movies (especially museum ones that feature helicopter flights) no other Disney ride has ever truly made me sick - or scared.

I haven't been on it in about 10 years!! Not sure if it'll be any better now!! :scared:

Oh, i thought you meant recently. Then no. It's essentially the same ride movements, so I can't imagine the screen being 3D now will help at all.

I ride it with my eyes shut and it still gets me. I am just not going on it anymore.

My worst experience was when Body Wars was still at EPCOT. I never usually have any issues with rides but this one almost did me in. I got so queasy and pale I had to shut my eyes and do deep breathing until it was over. I barely made it out in one piece. I had to lie down on a bench for awhile.

But - my favorite story is what happened to my poor mom many years ago. We were at a local amusement park with my grandparents and my grandmother loved rides. She talked my mom into riding something called the octopus. (A ride that looks like and Octopus and the cars spin. My mom was not sure about it so she told my grandfather to watch and if she starts waving to tell the ride operator to stop the ride. So...the ride starts and as it is spinning my mother is waving frantically at my grandfather. My grandfather...well he just waves back at her. Needless to say it didn't end well and the ride had to shut down for a clean up!

For me it is a ride I lovingly refer to as Mickey's Fun Wheel of Death at DL's California Adventure. I am not a fan of ferris wheels in general, something about the combo of the height and the swinging motion. On this particular ride you get in a steel cage that is suspended to the wheel on a track so that as the ferris wheel moves the cage slides along the track and swings.

I did this ride with my DH, DS19 (at the time) and DD13. I had a full on panic attack and ended up in tears at the top of the ride. My family thought it was pretty funny. I will never ride that ride again! Just thinking about it makes me ill.

Ha- I am a little afraid of some of those giant wheels myself. At Hershey Park they have a big one and I took my three little grand-babies on it. I was a freaking wreck the whole time. I kept telling them over and over not to move or stand up or even look over the side. I had images of one of them plummeting off the ride the whole time. Never again!

My worst ride experience was the new Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland during Christmas week 2009. It was after dark and a bit chilly as we hopped on the ride. Long story short, I got completely soaked during the tiny drop. Then I went outside and proceeded to freeze my butt off as I tried to enjoy the holiday "snow" that they do. I think I was the grumpiest person at Disney until I finally started to dry off.

Personalized Mouse...THANKS for reminding me about Mission Space(Green)..:goodvibes.TRIED it about 5 years ago with the kids, didn't really like it and had FP for it for our upcoming F&W trip thinking I would give it another try..Your post "brought me to my senses" !:laughing:Think I will skip it this trip and substitute some great food and drink instead!:drinking1::yes::

I just remembered a ride I took in 2011 at Knoebel's called the Hamster Wheel. It's a big wheel that spins in one direction and you sit in a smaller 'hamster' wheel with someone else and spin around in the opposite direction:

I'm pretty well Pooh-sized (that's me in the orange), and so the hamster wheel was spinning around at breakneck speed counterclockwise while the big wheel went fast clockwise...and I thought, "here's where I die, on a hamster wheel." I got off and the vertigo was so bad and my stomach was churning so much I had to sit down for several minutes with my eyes closed. That's the only time I've ever been done in by a ride.

Since I don't ride Mission Space anymore it is now the Teacups that get me. Luckily i don't do it every trip but my son loves riding it.
