worst experience at disney?

During the one and only extended family trip we took a bug ran through the group. It was awful! Every day we lost one or two people to it. I had to book an extra room at the AKL and pay and outrageous rack room rate one night around midnight after we got back to the hotel and found my Mom had been throwing up all night and the room just felt gross. I knew those sick bugs were all over that room. Luckily it was just a 24 hour thing but it really made everyone tired and dining was not exciting to most people I got it but a few days after we got home thankfully!

Either when I finally broke down in the middle of MK cuz DH was being a jerk and told him I had to get away from him NOW or when I had been listening to my 3yo be snotty about how much fun he wasn't happened all day and finally broke and yelled at him that we would be packing our bags and going home.

That was our first trip to DW and the worst:) I think all that pressure to have a magical vacation kind of pushed us over the edge. Every trip since then has been a million times better.

We just returned on Saturday night from our first Disney vacation ever,we were so disappointed with almost every park.Animal Kingdom was the best park we visited. The employees there were very nice and we had a good time.Magic Kingdom was the worst, the people were rude and it was so crowded we couldn't even walk.We rode 2 rides and waited a long time for them. When we went to Epcot we didn't ride anything, with a fast pass the wait for soarin was 6 hours.I would not recommend the Dinosaur ride to anyone that has children that are under the age of 13,this is at Animal Kingdom,it is very scary. We couldn't believe how rude the people are in Florida. We feel like it was a huge waste of money to go to Disney. We have a son who is almost 7 and he even said he didn't ever want to go back.We did take an airboat ride while in Florida that was awesome.I would suggest it to anybody that was going.

Gee, it was CROWDED in the middle of June ??? No way....:rolleyes1

My worst trip was in May of 2006 - it was not at all Disney's fault.

My husband of 16 years walked out on us 6 days before our trip. Myself and 3 kids were completely devastated. They of course still wanted to go on the trip and I didn't want them to have anymore heartache. I wasn't a long distance driver, husband always did that. So we loaded in the car, I was stiff as a board driving and they were crying the whole way. We stopped at my dad''s in Jacksonville for 2 nights. My middle son came down with a terrible, terrible stomach bug. When it was time to leave, he was still sick but wanted to go. He slept most of the way and not meaning to give TMI, had god awful gas that we had to keep opening the windows!! Again we were all laughing and crying at the same time. (We had originally booked 2 nights at Pop and 7 nights at POFQ - I didn't have it in me to get to POP on our scheduled day, I called Disney to cancel, told them our story and the kindly refunded those 2 nights w/o any penalty....so nice!!)

Finally arrived and began our vacation. (BTW, husband's brother's family was meeting us for this vacation). The second night at POFQ, I woke up in the night and found blood everywhere.....the floor, sinks, towels, looked like a murder scene. I turn on the lights, and middle son (again) is lying in bed covered in blood. I scream and wake him up, he has no idea what happened. After cleaning him up and noticing his swollen nose and giant cut on his forehead, he remembers falling out of the bed and hitting his head on the side table. I never heard him and I guess he just wandered around the room! When I called for housekeeping, POFQ was great - came right over with "haz mat" gloves and bags and took all the linens and the cleaned the room.

The next day, my oldest son came down with the stomach virus!! Worse than the other son. He was so tired and worn out. I left him in the room alone (he was 14) and took the other 2 to the parks. I would call and check on him and my former bil/sil would check on him when they brought their kids back for naps (the were in the room next door). When he still wasn't better the next day, I went to the little store at POFQ looking for Immodium for him. They had none and called POR who were also out. They offered to have it delivered to my room, but it would take at least 2 hours. Since I had a car, I left all 3 of them in the room (bil was in the room next door checking on them) and I drove to a drugstore (crying and exhausted the whole way!) to get some medicine. He was finally well enough to come to the parks 2 days later. He really didn't have much fun and neither did I considering all we had went through!

We had our "make up" trip this past April and we had a much better time!!

You are a trooper! I admire you for all of this.

Wow, I admit that I didn't read all of these, but I'm pretty sure mine is in the worst 10% though it's certainly not the worst (and it happened at Disneyland).

After we got to the park, DW (against my advice, ahem) decided to put her engagement ring and wedding ring into her bag in order to keep them safe (the diamond may have been slightly loose). You can guess the rest of the story. Thankfully, the engagement ring was insured, but it was still a costly and sentimental loss. However, my favorite part of this story was that we discovered that the ring was missing just as we were getting seated in the ToT. Despite the fact that we were both freaking out, we still managed to enjoy the ride. It was an indescribably bizarre sensation.

Second place was also at Disneyland when DW got pinkeye after a few hours. But Disney was great and drove us to the nearest hospital gratis.

The time when I was 6 and almost died because of a bacteria in the water. I got very sick and I'm not going to go into detail because it was really nasty lets just say I lost about 20 pounds real quick.
But I'm still a fan.
The people at the resort gave me a get well package with lots of toys in it. I think my favorite was a Cinderella doll and a stuffed animal of one of the lions from the Lion King.

When my daughter was 4, we were staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. On the last day of the trip, my husband and I let her swim in the baby pool while we watched. She convinced us to let her stick her feet in the hot tub and promised that she would not get in. All of a sudden, she fell in the hot tub and because of the jets, could not get above the water. My husband had to jump in fully clothed to save her. She was fine, but my husband's cell phone was ruined. After that, we never let her near the water without a life jacket!

I don't remember promising not to get in (I was already in the hot tub on the ledge that you would sit on), and the reason I went stepped off the ledge was because I thought it wasn't deep (3 ft must have been really deep when I was that little :confused3). Anyway, since we are on the topic of worst experience, mine is when I was staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge (when I was much older and tall enough that I wouldn't drown in the hot tub) and we had been in MGM (Hollywood Studios now). Please note that it was really hot that day and I had been in BOTH the Indiana Jones show and Light, Motors, Action. I was feeling sick so we went back to the hotel. It was lunch and we went down to the lobby for our reservation lunch buffet. And, I had gotten heat sickness................... and threw up. I still can't believe that happened :sad2:

This last trip. Rude cast members-one actually ROLLED her eyes at me when I tried to show her my GAP and she had a fit when I went above her head to be able to stay at storytime with belle with my stroller. She refused and tried to kick me out. She wouldn't even look at my pass which said my stroller was allowed. When I got another cast member she threw a fit. Also I found SO many of the cast members NOT understanding how and what the gap was used for and if I was allowed in with my stroller, even with my proof. It was really maddening. Most were great with no issues but it definitely put a damper in our vacation.

I agree that people can be VERY rude- but i disagree w/ kids not liking dinosaur. It's DEF scary- but every kid is different. My 4 year old loved it!

mine was back in AUG.2007 we were at the speedway waiting in line and my kids wanted their picture with the race car so we went over and i was trying to get on OF JUST MY KIDS when all of a sudden a kid came running from now where and jumped right on top of the hood i asked him if he could move and his DAD jumped up from his bench across the way and started yelled at me to "SHUT UP AND NOT TALK TO HIS" by now we had a crowd of people and one lady told him to go get some "DISNEY MAGIC" so he grabed his kids and stromed off but by now i was so ashamed i just wanted to go back to the room for the night!

Mine was at the Pirate and Princess party on Aug. 24th last year. Although its not Disney's fault, it did rain and storm all night to the point where it was dangerous to be outside. There was deadly lightning and tornado warnings. Disney went about it all wrong in my opinion because they did not let the guests know what was going on. We weren't sure if the parade or fireworks would go on, plus we didn't know if we could get a refund or exchange our tickets. Every CM we spoke to told us something different. The next day I also found out that lightning struck the fireworks area and there was a fire. Nothing went on as scheduled and no one knew when and if any of the special pirate and princess party events would take place. We left early and found out they did do the fireworks and parade but very late.

You wouldn't believe how many guests blame us CM's for the weather!

I guess my worst experience didn't involve any of us really.

We had been in toontown (inside) with all the kids (our DD plus niece and nephew) and waiting in line behind this man holding a little girl. It was a long wait and the back of the man's tshirt shirt had a lot of writing on the shirt -- we had read the shirt while we were waiting. We never spoke to him and his wife but after standing behind them so 1/2 hour, we knew EXACTLY what they looked like.

Fast forward another hour, and we are still in toon town outside sitting on the curb eating grapes. We saw that same little girl walking all by herself -- no parents. My sister and I looked at each other and said "grab a Disney CM" and we did. We pointed out the little girl and told them she was not with her parents -- and we described what her parents looked like. They said they would take her and find her parents.

About 15 minutes later, we were further away and we saw her dad. So we told him the Disney cast members had his daughter and they were looking for him.

I am sure to this day, he wonders how we knew who he was and how we knew the CM had his little girl.

As a mom, my heart just skipped a beat when we discovered that little girl alone.

Disney is always a blast, no matter what, but we've had our moments of stress, just like anyone. About 13 years ago, we had a mini-family reunion - my two sisters, their kids, my brother, sister-in-law and their 3 kids. My sil is from England and is, well, kind of "difficult". She and my bro always fight, but this time, we were heading into MGM and they got REALLY loud outside of the park. They were screaming at each other, sil shouting that she was going right to the airport and going home, the three kids were bawling, pawing at their parents and asking us "Is Mummy really going home?" and the crowds were making a wide berth around us all. It was really, really embarrassing at the time, but now is really, really hilarious. I just hope nobody caught that on tape!!!

I was 7, riding Space Mountain, my mom AND the CM told me it was ok to unbuckle and I started to stand up as the car went foward again and I smacked my head off of the front of the car. My first-and last (at least til now) bloody nose. GAH. The rest of the trip was fun though ;)

I don't remember promising not to get in (I was already in the hot tub on the ledge that you would sit on), and the reason I went stepped off the ledge was because I thought it wasn't deep (3 ft must have been really deep when I was that little :confused3). Almost the exact same thing happened to DD then 4 at AKL. She had a floaty and was in the hot tub. She was supposed to be sitting on the steps waiting for me to wrap up in a towel. I told her it was time to go, turned around just in time to hear her say NO and see her run down the steps of the hot tub with her hands straight up and the inner tube float off over her arms as she went under :scared1: In I went with towel and all... she was fine, only under half a second. We still laugh about it...

These stories are making me nervous!! I took my kids to Disney in 2006, we had such a fantastic time. We are going back this summer and I am wondering how we can match the last vacation. Seems like already things are going awry. Such as the Disney hours for August not being posted on time and cutting back on the shows, free dining which means fighting for ADRs on day 90. I don't remember being this apprehensive last time. I am sure we will have a good time, we tend to roll with the punches, we are planning (but not overly so), we can't control the weather and will hope for the best. I don't know why I feel this way? :confused3
