worst experience at disney?

My worst experience happened last August......after a mid day break at the pool, my family and I hopped the bus to MK to see the parade and have some dinner at LTT. We catch the bus at the Pop and continue on to our destination........however.........my daughter and I who were closer to the front of the bus notice that the bus was going the wrong way, other people around start asking out loud "where are we going?". Before you know it the bus is leaving disney property all together and heading towards the airport. People starting getting angry and yelling to stop the bus. The bus driver finally stops the bus and radios someone. Next thing you know she makes a U turn on the highway (yes at night in the middle of traffic)!!!!!! We finally make it back to MK and there waiting for us were Disney Exec.'s apologizing and handing out fast passes. Missed the parade & dinner! I still wonder what happened to the CM?????

This last trip before Christmas we ate at the Oktoberfest buffet as we usually do. Everything went fine until my friend made a face after tasting something. Hmm, he says, that pork roast tastes strange. Being a big pork fan, I tried it. Tasted a little like apple spices or something. Not fantastic but edible. I finished off the few pieces I had and then ate the rest of my meal.

Within an hour I had started sweating with the chills and got that watery feeling in your mouth when you know something's wrong in your tummy.

Decided to leave for FW with our rental car, barely made it home. Within another hour was puking my guts out. This went on from about 2pm to 10pm when I had finally expelled the last of that sickly pork roast. Was weak as could be the next day and ghostly pale but stuck it out on chicken soup for the day.

It really took the shine off of Oktoberfest for me, will never be able to eat there again. Word of advice, if you are opening the restaurant and at the carving station the roast is already half carved away, go somewhere else. I'm pretty sure they didn't store it properly and it went bad.

To the person yhat broke their leg, you win.

This is not a prize I want to win!

I'd like to share another incident from this past week. My son handed me his wallet and asked me to buy ice cream for his kids while he, his wife, Dad, and brothers went to ride ToT in HS. I bought the ice cream and put his change in his wallet then rolled the stroller over to a bench so we could wait for the riders. After they came back, we all went over to RnRC which I rode while sonny boy stayed with his kids. When I came out of the ride, he asked me to buy him a frozen lemonade for when he came off the ride and took off for the fp line. It was then I realized I didn't have the wallet. By the time sonny came off RnRC I was in full panic mode. I had somehow lost his wallet. Son remained calm though and went straight to guest services where his wallet had been turned in with everything intact. :yay: :yay: So the story ended up being a good one. I, however, have decided that I should have stayed home this trip since I was the one who lost the wallet then there is the broken leg thing.

In May of 2007 DH and I were heading to Blizzard Beach. Being a good girl I put on plenty of sunblock. Well, when I put it on my face I must have wiped it right over my eyes. as I started sweating it ran into my eyes. It hurt so bad I could barely open my eyes. So we had to go back to our resort so I could shower and really wash them out. Overall not that bad and it was my own fault.

My worst Disney experience was on this past Saturday, May 31st when we had to board Disney's Magical express and head back to Orlando airport. Our wonderful honeymoon was over :( :( :( :( :( Poor Poor us!!!!!

Our worst experience was on the Friendship boats. We boarded the boat at the Studios going to Epcot. We sat behind the driver, and I noticed that she bent down to look at some equipment below the steering wheel. Then I noticed that we were veering right towards the bank, and our boat crashed right into the concrete wall on the side of the waterway. I was sitting next to the window. My mom and DD slammed me against the window. A man across the aisle from us fell out of his seat and hit the floor. A baby stroller went flying across the boat with the baby in it!

The driver panicked and asked if everyone was ok. A few guests proceeded to tell her what they thought of her driving skills in flowery terms if you get my drift.

By the time we docked at Epcot, my shoulder was very sore and hard to move. I eventually went to first aid and layed there for a while with ice on my shoulder. It was sore for a week or two, but then it was fine.

Wow! you are a beautiful bride!!!

all the best to you both!

Worst experience was back in 2005. Family was staying at the CR. We arrived on Labor Day and the park was empty. Perfect. However, Thursday night we found out the bands practice at midnight for that Christian Rock Fest which was on Friday and Saturday. 2 nights of loud music that started at midnight and finished at 5 am. Made the last two days of the trip seem really long as we were all tired from the lack of sleep.

I know the feeling but hey, congrats ... you're a married lady now! And you look like a true Disney princess, too.

Ugh my heart goes out to all you people who were sick at Disney (and the person with the broken leg).

My trip was bad before we even left. I had endured the summer with 3 urinary tract infections, and as a result I got interstitial cystitis, which is a fancy way of saying my bladder was swollen and peeing was nearly impossible.

The flight to Orlando was a nightmare. I was crying in the bathroom on the plane all 3 times I had to use the facilities. It was torture. But when the plane took off I thought my bladder was seriously and truly going to explode. AWFUL.

Our first day, I hit every bathroom in MK. I think I pretty much know every bathroom at WDW. Finally, my bladder was spasming so bad I had to call my urologist and get some meds delivered to our resort.

Those helped after a day or two.

Then I got very sick with a cold the last few days of our trip.

Did I mention this was our HONEYMOON?!?!?!?!

If you want to read about our adventures, I have a trip report. It's funny, and you'll be glad this will probably never happen to you.

How We Survived The Worst Disney Trip Ever

Worst experience - 2001 on our second trip to Disney. Mid-May, crowds were unbelievably large and rude and it was really really hot. Wanted to see Fantasmic in the worst way, so we queued up in a long long line and finally got in to the very crowded standing-room only section in the back. Just before the show started, someone several feet over vomited and a CM brought out that nasty chemical stuff to clean it up. Ugh.

DD-then 7 and I both started feeling the effects of the chemical smells - asthma attack coming on, pull out the rescue inhaler - but we wanted to see the show so we held on. By the time the show was over, she was severely nauseous and I was wheezing to the point where I knew walking back to the car would be a challenge. We waited until many of the people around us had left because I knew I'd be walking slowly. There were no CMs around and DH was getting flustered - I could barely walk and he was trying to carry DD. She was very dizzy and got sick to her stomach, and I got weaker. DH eventually managed to snag a CM to try and find us a wheelchair as I could go no further down that long long winding path (at least, that's how I remember it - I've never gone back) and simply sat down on the ground. Between the CM and DH, they found a wheelchair, which meant DD could sit on my lap and I could just sit. We started off and DD got sick (again). At this point, we were both worried about her - her asthma had been so well under control and we had all taken heat precautions - but here she was, wheezing even after the inhaler and dizzier and sicker - CM directed us towards the first aid station and then left us alone. It took us almost 20 minutes to get from Fantasmic to the first aid station that night. The staff was not all that great - they were on the verge of closing when we got there and told us to find our way to the local hospital (Celebration?) but didn't want to call the ambulance because it would take too long and someone would have to wait with us. DH looked at the doctor and said, "We have no idea how to get to the hospital. If anything happens to DD between here and there, as you refuse to call an ambulance on our behalf, I want to know that you'll be accepting the responsibility of sending us away with no help just because you want to leave for the night. All we're really asking for is to let DD have some cool fresh air for 15 minutes or so, to get the chemical smell out of her lungs and make sure she's not going to pass out." It was the staff's opinion that if DD and I had both reacted so strongly to the chemicals, we should have just left. Easy to say, but where we were crowded in (and DD only saw the show because DH put her on his shoulders) it was impossible to get out. So they took DD in back to take temp and check vitals, and kept her back there for just about the 15 minutes we'd requested. She was brought back out, pale (had vomited one last time) but her breathing was better. Still lacking directions to the hospital, we were told that there was nothing more they could do and they were leaving. And could we please leave the wheelchair there at first aid (in other words, make your own way back to your car in the parking lot). After a couple of nasty looks and deep sighs all around, they "agreed" to let us leave the wheelchair in the parking lot - we were many many rows away and the tram had ceased to run.

We took the next morning "off", DD was in fine shape by late morning, and we drove over the MK for our last day. No lasting ill effects, thank goodness! Just an annoying memory of our next-to-last day.

Oh my goodness I'm so sorry for all the illnesses and injuries! I'm so afraid something like that will happen to us, DD3 has asthma and I'm awfully clumsy lol. The first time I went when I was 7, I barely made it into the park before I nearly ruined it with my clumsiness! I was too busy being enamored with everything and looking around, and within the first 5 minutes I ran head first into a bolted down metal trash can lol!

But my WORST Disney trip had to be in 1990. I was 15 and had a boyfriend of 6 months or so, and I was going to be gone nearly 3 weeks because we were driving. This is of course an eternity for a teenager and we didn't have cell phones then. Anyways, I call him from a pay phone in Pleasure Island towards the end of our stay in Orlando and he proceeds to break up with me! Telling me he had found another girl at a camp he had gone to. I was heart broken and all I wanted to do was get home so I could "fix it" lol. So I moped and cried that night, the whole next day, half the next day, until they finally agreed to cut the trip short and head for home. I was such a brat, I feel bad about it now though lol. We're taking our first Disney trip since that fateful trip in August, parents are coming with us, so I'll make it up to them. But seriously, who breaks up with someone while they're at DISNEY WORLD?! :rotfl:

As for trip injuries, I thought it would make some of ya'll feel better to know what I did on a cruise in 2005. We went on a Royal Caribbean ship with an ice rink on the bottom level. On the last day of the trip we decided to go ice skating. It was fine for about half an hour, then DH left the ice to get pics. I kept going around, he kept saying he wasn't getting good pics. On my last pass I wave at the camera and as he takes the pic the boat jogged and some of us fell down. I fell down FLAT lol, face first into the ice. I get up and I hurt from head to toe, and I look down and there is blood on my pants. I play it brave and pretended like it didn't hurt and skated off. As soon as I stepped on that leg the pain was so bad I passed out! Needless to say I was laid out the rest of the trip. And it turned out I shattered all the cartilage in my right knee and had knee surgery 3 months later!! Then after that the doctor said I shouldn't have a house with stairs anymore because I didn't have much cartilage left after the pieces he took out and smoothed out. He said stairs would wear it out quicker. So 3 months after that we sold out house and moved to a one story lol. That ended up being an expensive trip!!

And just for giggles, here is a picture of me face down on the ice lol! The pic DH was taking as I fell. I'm on the left in the pink shirt. Talk about embarrassing! There was a whole crowd of people in the audience too. :headache: Hopefully this makes ya'll feel better lol. Just remember, no matter how bad your trip is going, you're not face down on the ice in front of a crowd of people bleeding and passing out. :)

I hope you wrote Disney a letter detailing your treatment in this situation, I can't believe they treated you that way!

with a fast pass the wait for soarin was 6 hours..

I'm sorry you had such an awful time....I imagine that the summer heat brings out not only the crowds but the distemper as well (which is why I'd never go in the summer!....give winter a try, great weather, practically no lines....makes for happier people). Oh, and while I don't live in Florida so I don't feel a need to defend their people.....keep in mind that the vast majority of guests at WDW don't live in Florida. They're from every state, and lots of places outside the USA even....not just Floridians. And rude people are everywhere saddly.

But....I quoted you above and with all gentleness, I would like to say that I think you didn't quite understand the fast pass system? The whole idea behind the fast pass is to NOT wait in lines. Your fast pass is for a time in the future to go into a MUCH MUCH shorter line.....yes, your return time might be 6 hours away, but that means that you go off and do other things in the park for 6 hours and then come back, get into the fast pass line, and wait a short time before going on the ride. Think of it as an appointment or reservation for your time to go on the ride.

Here's my worst experience, and it's definitely one I don't want to relive.

In August of 2004 me and my best friend flew in to Miami and met up with my sister, who was living there at the time. The plan was to drive to Orlando and get our rooms at the All-Star Movies resort, which my sister has booked for us. On the way to Orlando on the Florida Turnpike my sister lost control of the Dodge Dakota she was driving and we swerved around the highway before finally hitting the median and flipping over at least twice. Amazingly, we all survived it, though I got the worst of it since I was in the back seat without a seat belt and was thrown around like a rag doll. We spent the entire night in the hospital. I had some moderately serious back injuries (which still persist to this day) while my friend banged her head pretty hard and lost her short term memory for the entire stay at the hospital. Seriously, her short term memory actually reset every three minutes and she kept wondering why we were in hospital beds.

So with that we ended up staying with Family in Cleremont, obviously having to cancel the resort reservations and delay the flight home since the doctors didn't think we should fly right away. And of course and park visits were in doubt. Making things worse was a visit to a Sweet Tomatoes restaurant the day after the accident which left my friend with a case of food poisoning the following morning. So it was back to the hospital for her, since we didn't know if it was accident related or not.

But even after going through all of that, nothing was going to stop us from seeing The World. It was tough, especially for me, since my injuries combined with the August Florida almost knocked me out quite a few times. But nonetheless we were able to make it MK, Epcot and MGM and despite it all we had a good time. I still keep a photo of me and my best friend standing by the tourist Pleakly statue in Tomorrowland on my wall as a reminder of the trip. We look like complete hell, but we had a good time anyway all things considered.

Each of my kids missed 1 day at the parks after throwing up within a day or two of doing the Hoop Dee Do Review (or whatever it is.....)

My daughter was sick within 15 minutes of entering MK and went back to the room for the day. I never thought of pleading to get her day back on her passport and I certainly should have......very expensive 15 minutes. Never even got on a ride as we headed first to HM.

:worship:

My worst experience at WDW was April 2006, when we were having a great time at AK with our kids and I got a call from my dad telling me my grandfather had died suddenly....I was devasted , as he was my favorite person (next to my kids), so we had to cut our trip short and fly home for the services. I will say that the staff at POR was wonderful in helping me out with the airlines and refunding me the money for the package I bought. Kudos to Disney for making a difficult time that much easier!!:thumbsup2

I may be small but I'm not that nice and nobody is gonna mess with me!

Like that saying....Don't mess with Texas!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Sorry, being an Okie girl from just N of the Red River, we heard that saying all the time on TV.

Wow, mine doesn't really compare with some of the really bad experiences some DIS'ers have had, thank-goodness.
In our Christmas trip in 2006, we'd had a fantastic holiday and decided to finish it off by having a meal at an offsite chain diner.
Two hours into the nine hour flight home and I was violently ill, again, and again, and again. The worst thing was evryone giving me disgusted looks like I could somehow control it. :(
