Worst Experience at a WDW park, ride, or Hotel.

OMG, I wish that would happen to me...that is the part that I always start getting sleepy and want a nap!!!

LOL, because I was thinking the same thing! :thumbsup2

My worst experience was when I was in the COP a woman on one of those motorized scooter (I know they must have a proper name, but can't think of what it is!) was backing up to park her scooter in the space in front of me and parked it right on my big toe before I had a chance to move my foot! I hobbled around the park the rest of the day-- should have asked her if I could borrow her scooter! ;)

Also, on our last trip to the WL, our 1st room was infiltrated with little gnat-type bugs on the walls and night stand. Completely covered with these little things! Not just here and there-- the night stand was coated with them! Needless to say, we were upgraded to a pool view!

It was 1998 and we were planning to take our DS, who had just turned 7 yrs old, to WDW for the first time. He had allergic reactions to smoke and the fires were raging in Florida at that time. I found out that some of the smoke was affecting parts of Orlando and WDW so we decided to cancel and go somewhere else and didn't want to cancel at the last minute if it got worse and lose money due to late cancellation because we could not rearrange the dates of our trip. It was simply awful having to tell him. We all cried. Later that day, after I thought about it, I called back down there to see if I could make another reservation and just put one nights stay on my credit card instead of the room, tickets, everything as I had previously done. If I lost one nights stay or part of it, it would not be that bad. They told me that could be done and I explained what was going on. They told me that due to all the cancelations they were experiencing due to the fires, they had were handling things different and would work with you if you got down there and started having problems due to the smoke! At that point, she was able to reinstate my original reservation! We had a wonderful trip - no problem with the smoke - all went great until the can coke blew up in the refrig in the middle of the night! We were so excited to be there, we failed to remember that we turned the mini refrig up so it would get cold quicker (I suggested it and my DH thought it was a good idea to). We were going to buy some items within a short period of time to put in there but, we decided to go to the MK instead. Our DS put a coke in it that had not been opened and it froze and blew the pull tab off in the middle of the night - not only did the noise scare us, but I had to clean up the mess cause it was my bright idea to turn up the refirg! I was just glad to be there :cool1:

I remember it like it was yesterday... We were at Epcot and there were No Beaver tails OR Off Kilter that day. There I stood...a broken man. Thank goodness for the sugar coated nuts. If not for them the trip would have been ruined. :teeth:

Mine was at the Polynesian. We shared the floor with a nightmare of a family. They ran up and down the hall screaming to each other. The kids all played in the hallway. They ran. They had a ball and a few trash baskets and set one up at each end of the hallway and played a form of basketball. They took their patio furniture and set it up in the hall so they could eat together. One night they had themselves set up right in front of the doors. DH and I would take the stairs instead of the elevator and we had to crawl over them and endure their dirty looks when we dared to actually want to enter the longhouse. After 2 nights of no sleep, I called the front desk. I was told, "Well....this resort is very popular with families." I was told, "Well....you have to expect to hear kids." Then I was told, "Well....you're more than welcome to find another resort and we'll transfer your payments." Hey, way to do business! :thumbsup2

We have had a few; One year, DS had his sneakers stolen at River Country. Big inconvenience! Another time we went to Dixie Landings to rent a boat. The CM started complaining loudly about "tourists lining up at a fake marina so they could float on a fake lake. Walts philosophy was save for a lifetime and go to Disney, Eisner's is go to Disney and pay for it for the rest of your life". I finally turned to him and said; "If you feel that way, at your age you should quit and get a REAL JOB". He didn't have much to say after that.

On one of our early trips to WDW with my mother, DH, and just two DSs, a toddler and one in a stroller, we waited a long time for the Alamo shuttle. We had the usual stuff parents take when traveling with young children and luggage. Finally the shuttle arrived and the guests that were just walking up to the waiting area loaded their stuff and got on before we could load our stuff. When the second shuttle arrived, after having stood there for almost an hour, I unloaded the luggage of the new line cutters, and told them they could wait their turn like everyone else.

Almost forgot the one at the Polynesian. We had bought our first package for our first stay at the Poly through Eastern Airlines, remember them? I had the vouchers, etc and when we arrived at the front desk with two children in tow,my mother and DH, they didn't have a room for us and they were full! They offered to put us at the Contemp. but I had dreamed of someday staying at the Poly. I told them that I wasn't moving from where I was standing until I had a key in my hand. Its amazing what they can come up with when they have to. They did discover that I had been paid in full for a while and we ended up with a nice room.

Two escapades come to mind, both involve swimming.

The last time we were there it was in the high 90's and HUMID! We had been walking from one end of World Showcase to the other and we were just hot and exhausted. We were staying at the Dolphin, so we decided to just walk out the back entrance of Epcot and go swimming. The whole time we were walking back we were talking about how great it was going to feel standing under the waterfall in that beautiful pool.

We changed into our suits and could not wait to get into the cool water. We jumped in and it felt like heaven. We were in the water about 30 seconds when the life guards started blowing the whistle and telling everybody to get out of the entire pool! Apparently some kid had a leaky diaper/diarrhea incident and the pool was going to be closed for the rest of the day! I swear we wanted to cry. There is a lap pool there as well, but the water was too warm and it of course, was extremely crowded since it was the only pool left to swim in. :furious:

The other incident was at Typhoon Lagoon. It was my first time in the wave pool, and it probably would have been a good idea if I would have watched how it all worked before I got in.

I walked into probably hip deep water and just stood there thinking I knew what I was doing. The next big wave came and literally threw me backwards, scaping my rear end across the rough bottom of the pool for about 20 feet, landing in knee deep water. I stood up and started walking out of the water when all of a sudden I heard "Mommy! Look at that ladies naked butt!". Suddenly I realized that they were talking about me! The rough pool bottom had shredded the bottom of my swimsuit and there was nothing left but shreds of fabric! I was mortified! I could hear people laughing all around me as I tried to cover myself with my hands. Naturally all of our belongings were on the other end of the park, so it was the longest walk of my life trying to get to my towel. I am still embarrassed when I think about it. :sad2:

Last trip, we had several rude CMs. Maybe it was because we were "just a bunch of teenagers" (I was on a band trip). But never before have I had so many rude CMs.
At MGM, we went to eat at Rosie's Cafe by the RnRC. We (there were about 5 of us) were walking over to it and passed a friend of mine and her boyfriend who had just eaten there. They told us not to go in the line with this one particular lady working the cash register. That line was the shortest, though, and I of curious wanted to see what my friend was talking about. This woman was NASTY! We had meal coupons that we got the entree, a desert, and a drink. This was our third day in the parks and we used these meal tickets every day for every meal for the past 3 days. We know what to say. So I went up first and I said "Could I have chicken..." This woman interupts me and says, in a very nasty way, "DRINK?" I said diet coke and..." She interupts me again and says "DESERT?" I said a cookie. Then when I went to hand her the meal ticket, she grabbed it out of my hand. I turned around to the people I was with and said, "Man, she was right" (meaning the friend that we passed). So then my one friend went up to order and she was gonna do the whole spiel (Chicken with a diet coke and a cookie). This woman interrupts her and says "DRINK". My friend was like "What if I don't wanna tell you my drink". LOL.

That night, when we were leaving the park to go back to our buses, we were in a huge group (about 120 of us). We were following the asst. band director. He walked out into where the Disney buses pull over to pick people up. There were no buses coming. So about half of us were walking where the buses need to go. Don't know why, but that is where the asst. band director was walking, so we followed. I think he was there because he jumped over one of those poles that are like 3 feet high and that was where he landed, but anyways. LOL. So one of the CMs starts SCREAMING at us. "Get onto the sidewalk. You need to stay out of the parking lot." She was very rude. I understand why we couldn't be where the buses were, but there was no need for her to be so rude. Then the asst. band director turned around and was like "oh, sorry bout that". She was like "psh" and turned around and stormed off after standing in the middle of the road to make sure we were all on the sidewalk again.

This one isn't Disney's fault.
The day before, we were in EPCOT. There was a lady with a stroller walking behind us. Now, we weren't walking slow at all. We were walking faster than a normal pace. This lady runs into me with the stroller. I turned around to see what it was that ran into me. This lady glared at me. I said to a friend of mine "oh boy, bumper strollers is beginning." Then this lady walked around me and almost ran into another friend of mine. I said to my friend "Watch out, that lady ran me over with that stroller. She's gonna run you over to." She just went on her merry way, I'm sure running over more people.

I thought of another one that I have shared before but a good bump for the thread. Our first stay at POFQ. We check in mid morning, got upgraded to a wonderful room facing the pool/spa in building 5. So we were going to Epcot for EMH so my girls layed down for awhile. My ds had slept in the car so he and I went to explore. Came back to a dark room (bathroom light was on though), put him down to put stuff away in the bathroom and heard a loud whack and the baby screaming. Turned the lights on and his eye and forehead were black. He had whacked his head on a piece of plywood sticking 5 inches out of the bed. It looked horrible so we called paramedics. Head of mousekeeping shows up first and starts questioning me. Told her what happened and showed her the bed and all she said was that sometimes the mousekeepers make the bed and push it and and don't think to put it back. I'm like uhh ok? Paramedics showed up at this point and checked him out and he was ok... but sheesh.

For the rest of the stay, we were constantly checking that plywood....

My worst experience actually wasn't mine to start with, but ended up being mine. My Mom was on vacation with my 2 sisters and my younger sisters family (her first time taking her kids). Mom got that Saturday, on Monday night she calls me (long distance) to tell me she is in the hotel room cause she's not feeling good. Now Mom calling to tell me she is sick is not normal even when she is home...so panic sets in. She's describing "back pain and heartburn, probably cause I'm eating bad here...but I'm taking some tums and tylenol and I'm going to take a nap. I'll call the desk if it gets worse." My sisters left her alone to go to DTD for a bit...Mom insisted. At 10:30 I get a call that they got back to the hotel and they were taking my Mom by ambulance to the hospital. I am thinking heart attack since she had one before. My sisters came back to the hotel to see the ambulance in front...get up to the room and hotel security and paramedics are all over. Turns out Mom had an emergency gallbladder operation while on vacation! I ended up flying down the next day with a one way ticket and $60.00 in my wallet. Had no idea when I was coming home, how I was going home or anything. My first words to my Mom in the hospital were, "You knew I wanted to be down here with all of you, but you really didn't need to do this!"

She had wonderful doctors..one was very funny and told her the hospital stay was part of her 5 day park hopper! LOL. They released Mom from the hospital and the next day we were pushing her around the parks in a whellchair. She HAD to get on It's a Small World, Peter Pan and Haunted Mansion.

I do have to say that the staff at the Swan were awesome and so helpful. They really helped make the situation much easier.

Oh my gosh. My best friend and I had a HORRIBLE experience at the Coronado Springs about 3 years ago. I'll repost what I wrote about it.

The CS was, without a doubt, the WORST Disney hotel I have ever stayed in. When my best friend and I arrived to check-in, the hotel had no record of our reservation. Luckily, I had all the paperwork with me, but it still took close to an hour to get it straightened out. When we got to our assigned room, we opened the door only to find someone else's luggage in it! We called the front desk to report the situation, and they asked us to "look through the luggage for identification". As if we were going to go through someone else's stuff! After another half hour or so, we FINALLY got into our own room, only to discover that the air conditioner was broken (in the middle of a heat wave). You guessed it - ANOTHER room switch. Add to all this that during our stay we dealt with the room not being cleaned without repeated calls to the front desk, a breakfast that was supposed to be comped but wasn't (wasting park time while we straightened that out), and our bill being messed up at check-out, and you get two VERY unhappy guests. I would NEVER recommend this hotel.

We witnessed something strange happen on our President's week trip this year, when we went to Beaches and Cream. We were seated at the counter, right next to the takeout area. We were enjoying our ice cream, when a man (probably late 60's to early 70's) comes in the takeout door to order ice cream. He had a very grumpy demeanor right off the bat, he blurted out what he wanted & the young lady asked him kindly to repeat his order. He repeated it, but very rudely. She told him the total, and he flipped his lid  . He was very hostile, she showed him the menu to confirm the price but he still argued :confused3 . The girl quickly went & got the manager, who tried to talk with the man. At this point he threw his money down & made a racial slur against the girl. The manager was small & soft spoken....but he stood up tall & said "You need to leave NOW sir. I will not have my staff spoken to like that." The man had this look of shock on his face and quickly grabbed his money and left. I told the manager he could write my name down as a witness! Talk about having a bad day. :sad2:

Never had anything bad happen in all the years we've been going to WDW. We do, however, have some rather funny things that have happened.

Once when we we planning an EPCOT trip, I insisted DH take along a jacket as it gets cool in the evenings around the lagoon when watching fireworks. He made a big deal over how foolish I was being and refused the jacket. Later that evening, while standing around the lagoon, DH disappeared for a while. When he returned, his arms were wrapped in toilet paper from wrists to shoulders!!! :bitelip: Seems *somebody* got cold without their jacket! :rotfl:

There was another funny incident I was planning to tell but I suddenly can't remember. Maybe being after 4 a.m. has something to do with it? :teeth: I'll remember soon as I get in bed.

Hey....it's 4:30 but "Dis time" says it's only 3:30. When do you guys switch over?

WE just returned from WDW three weeks ago. Went to MGM and was not there more then 5 min when someone in a EWC ran over my foot, no damage just did not want to start off our vacation this way. look out for run away EWC.... Also saw a EWC run into a pin station cart two years ago and knock half the pins off the cart....
