Worst Cook in America -- I was NOMINATED!

I guess I don't get it. I mean anyone can purposely cook bad so how do they know if your faking it or not. :confused3

You have GOT to do it!!!! But if you want to 'win' (a spot on the show), you know this attempt at your spaghetti pie has got to be REALLY bad. And I mean BAD bad - not slang 'bad', as in good :rotfl2:!!!! I've had spaghetti pie - my mom used to make it all the time - and it can be really good. What doesn't your son like about it? What were some of his other unfavorites, and what doesn't he like about them? Is it really your cooking, or is it his tastes?

It comes out sort of runny sometimes... :confused3 Last few times I had to throw it out. It's a BIG joke in my family!

I come from a long line of GREAT cooks and I'm the youngest. I never cared to learn and they didn't bother to teach me. I didn't try until after my Mom died 7 years ago, and THOUGHT I was doing fine... until now....

When I was younger my boyfriend once told me "you've got that 'I can't cook look'"....:lmao: I thought that was a COMPLIMENT!!

Wow thats so exciting!! I mean this in the nicest way- I hope you are picked as one of the worst cooks in America :goodvibes

:lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

I saw parts of the last go round including the big first day when they chose the actual finalists. Now I wouldn't even call myself a good cook, but I am NOTHING like the ppl nominated for this show.

I wish you all the luck in the world, good or bad your choice:rotfl2:

I loved that show! (Except for the annoying tatoo'd girl. She rubbed me the wrong way) I hope you get it, OP! Keep us posted!! Seems like it would be a fun experience-- in the best city in the world! How old is your son? Would they have sitters to watch him or would he be on his own? I wonder if they would pay for food, etc. for him-- also, I wonder if you could stay in a hotel with him or if you'd have to stay with the other contestants. Clearly, I wonder a lot about the functioning of reality shows!!

My son is 17 and we've already made a plan in case I'm chosen. My sister is housesitting her daughter's house now but will sit with my son for the four weeks if I go. He will be out of school at the time so I'd love for him to come but I think he'll be bored while I'm working. I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Is good luck in order or should I wish you aren't the Worst cook in America?

I fail at making jello. I can't do to save my life. Good thing it is not anyone favorite food in my house.;)

by my LOVELY son...

I got a voice and email from the casting director of Worst Cooks in America on the Food Network and yes, I will probably be on the next episode of COPS because my son thinks this is hysterical...

He wrote a letter to them after watching last season's show when I kept saying "I could've been on THAT show"...:surfweb: I didn't know he agreed with me!!!

The audition is Saturday and I have to bring a HORRIBLE attempt at cooking. I asked my kid and he named about 100 things he thinks will win it for me  -- all things I THOUGHT he liked!!!

Wish me LUCK? :confused3

I hope you win! :grouphug:

I think I'll bring my famous Spaghetti Pie... even the interviewer said "WHAT?"

Oh, my, Robin. :lmao: I hope you're chosen! Keep us posted, please. And remember, I won't be laughing AT you but with you. ;)

I was invited to the open audition but they gave me a number to call to confirm.

Well, after the call they told me I have an appt on Sunday for an ON AIR audition!!! :cool1:

She told me if I'm chosen I'd spend FOUR WEEKS in NYC...my hometown!! From June to July so I can bring my son. I hope I get it, I'd love to go home!!!
:woohoo::dance3::cheer2:

Don't you have to work?:confused3

I would not be proud if my 17 year old son nominated me for being a horrible cook.

we loved watching that show!

i'm an ok cook, but one of the 1st times i tried cooking (age 32)...i set a pan on fire...in the SINK! it was hot and had a drop of olive oil in it and i moved it to the sink. next thing i know...POOF! :rotfl:

congrats and good luck!! we'll be watching for you next season!

You really never cooked until you were 32?:confused3 I was cooking with mom and grandma before I turned 10.

I wouldn't mind, if it were true! It's all in good fun. Being a crappy cook doesn't make one a crappy person!

I hope Robin gets on the show. It sounds like it would be a blast!

Honey, I'm waiting for that kind of call myself. I'm a great baker, but horrible cook!!

Really? We watched that show and both DH and DD wanted to nominate me. I make about 2 good dishes. The rest are NOT. I grew up with a great cook in my home (DGM). She passed when I was 23. She didn't want us anywhere in the kitchen unless we were doing the dishes. She loved to cook and didn't want us messing up her food.

Good luck Robin! :thumbsup2

Umm. Good luck??!! Happy Mother's Day -- he owes ya!

If you need one, I do have a recipe which, 18 years later, still is the butt of my DH's jokes -- It's called "Sweet & Sour Devil Dogs". Found it when I had a whole package of hot dogs I wanted to use up. It involved ketchup, mustard and pineapple, if I recall properly. :scared:

I watched some of the show last year and it was a HOOT! I did miss the final, though :(.

I think I'll bring my famous Spaghetti Pie... even the interviewer said "WHAT?"

It comes out REAL good sometimes but most of the time REAL BAD. :confused3
I googled "spaghetti pie" :scared1:. I think that something unusual and BAD will be perfect! Good luck :thumbsup2.

You were very lucky. Not everyone is as lucky as you were. I have a friend who calls the stove "the white thing that gets hot" and the refrigerator "the white thing that gets cold" :rotfl:. It's a running joke in her house that her DH does all the cooking.

Me ... I love to cook and I'm pretty good at it if I do say so myself. I love a good cooking challenge and every week I cook a meal from the country that is the pit stop from the show The Amazing Race. This week it was Shanghai, China and I made steamed trout with black bean sauce ... all from scratch. FWIW, my DD is 10 and I am starting to have her help me in the kitchen. I hope to install a love of cooking in her, but my love of cooking was all self-made. My mom was (and still is!) an uninspired cook.
