Worst accidental insult you have had?

When my dd turned 1 I wanted to make her a special cake. I was not a baker, or a very good cake decorator, I could barely make spaghetti at that point in my life lol
I found a teddy bear cake mold I wanted to use, got food coloring to make colored cake and icing. I thought I did a great job even though none of it was homemade I was very proud of myself.
Brought the cake to my MIL’s for the party and the first thing out of my dh’s grandmother’s mouth was why in the world would they ruin that cake by making it purple.
She had no idea I made it, thought we purchased it
Needless to say for a very ling time I only offered to bring paper products and drinks to family parties after that

After I was married for about a year, my wife and I were shopping at a local store. We ran into a school mate of my wife who she had not seen in a couple of years. She asked my wife where our new born was, when my wife said we did not have any kids yet. She answered "oh, I had heard you had to get married". Needless to say that old school mate was taken off the Christmas card list.

I was asked at work if I was pregnant. When I said no he then told me I was looking thick. He may have actually meant that as a compliment, but I was mortified.
