Does anybody get stressed about the kids getting sick the closer it gets to depature time. It seems like everybody in the school is sick ;)

Well, I get worried if I get sick, and my family. Once, my mom got a 24 hour stomach bug the night before we left. Thankfully, by the next morning, she was okay, but really tired.

Then we went in March, and I got a stomach flu the morning that we were supposed to leave. Not good! We ended up staying an extra night, because I obviously couldn't take the 17 hour drive home.

My advise, give your family vitamins, keep thier fingers out of the mouth (I was a nail biter, up until that experience :rotfl2: ) and keep them away from sick friends/co-workers.

Don't worry too much about it. But just take some extra precautions in the weeks leading up to your trip. :sunny:

The kids-heck the adults! Our last trip-DH was in the car waiting to drive to the airport and I was doing the last walk through of the house, bent over to pick something up and injured my back. Ever tried doing WDW with back spasms? It's not always the kids, let me tell you.

Oh yeah! I have a horrible fear of puking on the plane! If I am going to have any kind of G I issues I must be at HOME! I accosted my dd and Dh daily for a week before, stay away from sick people! Wash your hands! I took tons of Zycam and every other med known to man with us. We landed in Orlando and that night My dd had a fever and stuffy nose. I zycamed and vitamin c'd her and the rest of us too and thankfully all was fine! A cold it easier to deal with than any stomach bug. Wishing you healthy thoughts for your trip!

I always start flipping out too. I make my whole family take vitamins for months before we go. Now we're leaving in 8 days, just me and DH for a well deserved trip with no kids(first time in 17 years) and I feel like I'm coming down with a cold. So I'm going to start with Zicam right now!!!

That fear is always with me too. My new scare is that it has rained here the last week and now I am thinking I hope the 5 days of annual rainfall in February might all be while we are there. Cold and wet are not for me. Then the sickness starts.

Yes! We're leaving on Sunday and I'm so afraid that my kids will get sick before we leave. They don't go to school, but I've even been considering keeping them out of their activities (dance class, etc.) for the rest of the week just to avoid the germs.

We leave in just over a week and I feel like the hygine patrol over here! "Did you wash your hands? When was the last time you washed? Go wash now!" :rotfl2: It's getting crazy.

Kids, heck no! (don't have any), me , YES!!!!!!! After the disaster last time was getting sicker than I have ever been, 500+ doctor bills, coming home days early for a visit to the ER, I am terrified. I was paranoid about it last time, too and it did absoloutly no good, so i am hoping for lots of pixie dust and good health this trip. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

2 words: doesn't work!

for me anyway :teeth: , but i didn't get just a cold I was much worse. Neither did making sure I took my vitamins, had antibacterial gel with me, and washed my hands obsessively. It just wasn't meant to be for me to stay healthy.

It has helped us in the past or made the illness rather mild where it didn't stop us. However we know for a fact that someone will be sick while on vacation so we have just quit worrying about it and go on with having a good time. We will take it a little slower for a couple of days but haven't missed anything we wanted.

Zicam is great too! It definately makes a cold shorter and less symptoms. I always carry it with me!

Oh yes, we leave for WDW in 4 weeks. I heard yesterday that chicken pox is around especially at pre-school. I hope DD2.5 comes down with it now rather than just before the trip. I keeping praying for spots.

Kids here aren't immunised against chicken pox, I just want to get it over and done with now. If she comes down with it just before the trip we wont be able to travel. The incubation is 14 days and I am actually considering taking her out of pre-school and her activities for 3 weeks prior to avoid it. I am pregnant so resceduling this trip later in the year is not possible.

Fingers crossed........

I get nervous the week of the trip. Hands washed, no playing with ill kids(you know...that kid's pizza eatery!!) just trying to avoid getting sick in general. We were as healthy as could be and three days into our last WDW trip...stomach bug while there!!! We spent two days locked in our room with sick kids! Fingers crossed that never happens again!

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Jumping up and down in agreement!!!! I am shoving vitamins and hand washing. I've never tried Airborne, I wonder if we should :confused3 We've had a fairly healthy winter (knock on wood) so far.

I will say when I took my oldest two way back in 1997 they both came down with a terrible cold, high fevers and all. But we were driving and they spend the entire 20+ hours sleeping and felt great when we got there and had a great time! Rest really does cure a lot!

everybody in my house got the stomache bug for 3 days. I was happy that we got it over with before we leave. Although they can catch something else. Im pretty neorotic about trying to keep everybody healthy for vacation
