Worried Over Ssr Trip In May.any Suggestions?

I ususally take a taxi to my resort in the evening so I don't have to stand but thats just me and it doesnt matter what resort we are staying.

I would likely opt for this. Where do you find a taxi? Do you call one or are they just lined up waiting for random people? How does that work?

Thanks for your input on requesting springs area.I thought Congress Park was the 1 to request for easy access. Our main priorities in most resorts (due to the kids>LOL)is the pool and the bus stop.I would like to be close to both if possible.Any suggestions on what area to request? Also we are renting points so can i call member services and make the request or will my owner have to do this?Thank you all so much, you guys are the best people on the internet!!!!

Kelly I wouldn't choose to eat there unless I was in AK that day, and then I would just walk in and eat. If I were staying at the beach club or the boardwalk I would simply walk to one of the 7-10 places around the lake, or I would go to epcot which is a 10 min walk and choose from one of 15 places.

Logic is my guide.

Logic is still not going to get you from AK to AKL unless you and your logic plan to take a bus to AK then get on the AKL bus...and while you enjoy eating by your resort some people like more variety and SSR does make resort hopping much easier by having DTD right next door.

kelly are you serious? I can't believe you think the "nice" thing about ssr is you have to take a bus to get to the other resorts to eat.

hmmmm... so familiar, yet.... not quite.... time will tell

We stayed at SSR in Jan, it was our 1st time there. My DD (4 years old) really liked the resort and loved the pool and slide.

We did have some hit or miss with the busses. We had a car so we ended up taking it most of the time, especailly the evenings. It was just easier with the kids falling alseep. We had only one bad bus experince, but I think it was mostly luck. We just missed a bus leaving epcot at 8:30. We didn't get another one until 9:30. We had a nice talk with the couple behind us (our kids were asleep in the stroller. DH keep hitting himself for not running for the bus. If he would of we wouldn't of missed it. Still you win some, you loose some. One time in the morning the MK bus came and it was full before we could get on. Less then 2 min later another one came and it was just us and 2 other couples.

I do think having a car at SSR and OKW is adviced, but you can go with out it.

We are going back to SSR in May too (only studio open when we booked.) Looking forward to it. DD is thrilled abou it. We will be there May 6th to 9th (and then over to VB, I love VB in May!)

Have a great trip!

I stayed there for 16 nights last July and never waited 30 minutes for a bus. The bus service is fine.

Doh

I see you're back.

OP: You will love SSR, we have never had a problem with buses there and used them extensively in both October and January. Have a wonderful trip!

I couldn't agree more. I just reported this post to the moderators, since as usual this "new" guy has only posted on you guessed it, a SSR question!

If you want to be close to the main pool then request the Springs. However, there are quiet pools in the Paddock and Congress Park areas as well as bus stops. The quiet pools have hot tubs but no slide and are not nearly as exciting as the main pool. But my kids still had fun and frequently had the pool to themselves which was really nice. And for my elderly parents, the quiet pool was actually better. I am not sure about how you make requests when you are renting points. Just know that yes the resort is large, but due to its design, the most you would walk to get to the main pool would probably be under 10 minutes even with small kids. We stayed in the Paddock area in October and were surprised at how little it took to get over the main area, about 5-8 minutes, depending on if we had my parents (slow walkers) with us. But regardless of area, you will have bus stop close by. Have a great trip!

I also think it's great to be able to resort hop by catching a bus at DD. What's hard to believe about it? :rolleyes2

It's quite a long walk from AK to Boma. That still leaves the question of how you will get back to your resort from Boma. There's no direct buses between resorts.

We stayed at SSR in January and had no bus complaints at all. Plus like someone said, being close to DTD and being able to catch a bus to any resort is a big plus IMO.

If we do end up in Congress Park is that a long walk to the main pool area?
I think being close to DTD is going to be great for eating out since we wont have a car. Also i read somewhere where you can call in a pizza for like $20.00 that would be great 1 nite for supper!!
Thanks to all who have helped ease our minds about the bus situation. We feel so much better now.We logged on yesterday and just drooled over the pool area for about an hour.LOL.My DD loves to swim at times i think she would rather stay at the resort and swim all day as to go ride the rides. ;)
So that is why a pool and bus stops are very important to us (well the kids anyway.LOL)i like to relax and enjoy the scenery!!

Don't worry about it. Bus service is hit and miss with any resort.

Also good and bad reviews happen at all resorts from Conceirge at CR (currently ongoing right now on the Resorts board) to POP.

Things happen, just go and have a great time with your family :)

The only time we've waited for a bus for any length of time was at epcot after "illumination". I believe it was for about 25 minutes. That was the longest time we waited. Average was about 10-15 minutes. There are bus stops throughout the resort at SSR, so wait time isn't an issue. The walk to DTD is about 10 minutes (with 2 small children). You can catch any bus from there also--to other resorts also. We utilized the bus service our entire stay, and found no problem with it. SSR is beautiful and everything is about a 10 min walk, even with kids! The pool is fantastic for all ages, my children loved the donald duck sprinkler section, and water slide is fun--even for an adult!! The quiet pools are also fun, but no slide. You will absolutely love the resort and will not be disappointed!! Have a great time!! :woohoo:
