hi

your trip will be what you make of it

go with a positive attitude that you are gonna have a fantastic time no matter how crowded the parks are:sunny:

nothing is ever gonna be perfect:confused3

enjoy

:wave2:

No matter what you'll be at Disney. Oct is becoming more and more popular. So, it's not going to be January like empty. I think it's going to be nice even level crowds. That are easy to manage. Relax and have a great time!!

We're going in October and we're ready for the crowds. If you've planned, you'll be OK. Don't worry!!! Whatever you decide to do will be Magical...I guarantee it.

Well it's not as empty as it use to be but it's still my FAVORITE time to go!!! :)

The weather is usually gorgeous and so many "extra" events going on like Mickey's Not So Scarey Halloween Party at MK and Food and Wine Festival at Epcot.

And remember you always have the DIS to help you out!

So relax...you'll have a wonderful anniversary trip!

High occupancy at the on site Disney Resorts does not necessarily equate to crowded parks. You need to have that plus high occupancy at the off site resorts/hotels plus lots of locals going to really have the crowds in the parks. October will not be that bad, especially if you have a plan and know what you want to accomplish.

Keep in mind that Disney adjusts hours and staffing so that even during crowded conditions, you can still see and do lots.

As I tell my DH (who hates crowds), if you want to see the "good" stuff, you need to go when there will be lots of other people. DisneyWorld wouldn't last long without crowds!

It's all in your attitide. Don't let yours spoil the anticipation - it really is half the fun!

Best wishes -

P.S. It's easy to get a distorted view of how things are/will be from reading these boards - as wonderful as they are. Just keep in mind that the posters here are only a small fraction of the WDW guests and only a small fraction of us are visiting at any given time! You will have a wonderful trip!

October and May are right behind the big times to visit (Easter & Christmas), so don't expect light crowds and walk on lines. Make your PS before leaving or first thing in the morning. Use fastpass and just be ready. The only light times I've ever encountered (other than post 9/11) are January and late Nov/early Dec. Even September is getting popular too. But with F&W, even the locals will be there. The weekends will be the heaviest. of course, we go both times every year and this year is no exception. Be prepared and be ready. There will always be waits at some rides, so FP really helps. Will be there 12 nights!!

Remember if you are on the "DIS" you are way ahead of most other people going to WDW. The touring tips on this web site will vastly improve your touring times at WDW and put you ahead of most other people visiting the parks no matter what time of year.

I called this a.m. to make PS's for Rose and Crown for the week you've mentioned for the 7:00 time -- the time most people book if they want to stay for Illuminations. I was afraid that with the Food and Wine Festival, codes, etc., that it would be impossible. I asked the CM about PS's for that evening, and she said, "I've got everything open from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m." I stopped worrying about crowds right then.

Also, call about ressies at regular (not code) rates. Everything is available. All categories of rooms at AKL and Coronado Springs (the two resorts we're considering) are easily available. The only thing that's not readily available are DVC resorts on points. So, I think that, while we certainly won't be in the parks by ourselves, we shouldn't have to worry too much.

I had no problem with getting a PS this morning and it was around 10am when I called. I called Dining and a rep picked right up after all the prompts. I was so amazed. I didn't have my dates and times ready for her because I expected to be on hold for 20-30mins. We got our Chef Mickey's ressie in today for 11/2. Feels good.

everyone for your words of encouragement

I feel better now:D

I knew the parks wouldn't be "empty" but I was hopping for a little break from the crowds.

see ya all at "the world" in just 2 short months!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

thanks again

We will be there the same exact dates as you at POP Century. October was really empty, but we went in 2001 but that was right after 9/11. Out of July (HOT!) and Feb. (a little too cool to swim), October is better! And you have to remember that they only open a limited amount of rooms using the e-mails and postcards and not all resorts and levels were made available. They want to sell the rooms at most $ they can get. And I agree with CarolNM that in order for it to be "packed" you have to have all of Orlando going. Even when we went in July of 2002 in the drenching heat and humidity, we still had the time of our lives. We did not miss out on anything. MK is always pretty busy. Use e-nights or the MNSSHP to see all this. We are going to MNSSHP on 10-14. (Thurs.). Got tickets last night! You can never see it all, so we don't even try and stress out. We just keep going back! That's what I tell my wife anyway...

I had the same concerns as you when I went last October and I loved it so much I'm going back this October.

When we would line up at security, the parks seemed packed but as soon as we got in the people literally disappeared. I think the longest wait was 15 minutes and that was seldom, lots of things were walk-ons!! And we went during the golf tournament.

The weather is beautiful and the Halloween party is the best! You will have absolutely no regrets!!
