Worried about my sweet Golden and his lumps...UPDATE PAGE 2

Randy's vet appointment went very well, and his lumps turned out to be harmless fat deposits. I am SO relieved!!:goodvibes

Thanks so much for your positive thoughts and prayers!

:yay: Hooray for Randy! Our yellow lab, Lilly, has a large one on her side and we were worried too, but like your dogger, her's is a fatty lump. The vet says to leave it unless it bothers her as we would probably have to take out a rib too, yikes! Since she sleeps on it it must not bother her, so lumpy she stays!

My daughter has a black lab golden mix and she is the most sweetest mellow dog we have ever seen and she is over 20 yrs old and she still run around in the snow like she is a puppy.

Just saw this thread, Sundae. Sorry I missed it earlier.

So glad to hear that Randall's lump is just a fatty tumor. :)

I love the photos of your dogs in the pool. They were beautiful animals.

We have two Golden Retrievers, one is eight and the other is almost 1. The eight year old has had the fatty lumps, and we had some of them removed, he is going in to have one of eyes removed this week. The 1 year old, just had total hip replacement. Might have to have the other replaced in the coming year. Evening with all of this, I would not give either one of them up. They are my boys.

Our lab has several of them and they are large. We are talking baseball + size. We have to keep an eye on them for growth and if he is uncomfy at all, let the vet know and we can have them removed. They are on his sides and don't seem to bug him at all. He is an almost 10 year old black lab who weights over 100lbs, who things he's a 1 year old lap dog. :rotfl2:

We have a Golden (Jake) that will be 13 this year. He has been a great dog and he too also has some of those lumps on him. We thought we were going to have to put him down this past Saturday. On Friday, he would not get up at all - my DH finally got him up and then when I got home from work he still would not get up to go outside. I called my DH and he was dreading coming home as he knew what the options might be. He had to carry Jake outside and he was up for a bit. So, we warned the kids and told them that we might need to put him down the next day depending on how he was.

Well, the next day he was up and around but still not like he used to be. He is still having a hard time getting up and walking and has fallen down the steps a few times. My DH brought him to the Vet today and the vet said it could be a muscle problem and gave him some pills to take. We should know in a few days if they are working. If not, then we will have to put him down. It will be a very sad day. I have never had to do anything like this before but also don't want him to be in pain. My DH is going to be devastated - that dog is his buddy.

So, I guess we just have to wait and see what happens the next few days. I really wish he would just die in his sleep....

I am so sorry you are going through this with Jake. I will pray that the pills work and you get a little bit more time with your furry angel.

We have a black lab and yeah she has a couple of those as well and vet wasn't too concerned either-said they were fatty tissues and not necessary to remove.
