Worried about Carsland refurb after summer?

OP based on precedence, absolutely not!

For ONE thing even though Summer is obviously high season, Disney still want people to get as many people to come as much as possible and the LAST thing they would do is shut down their new big attraction or area at that time so soon! People still book trips and come in the fall season even if its less of them, but believe me the HOPE is that more people will come in these months like you are doing just to see CL! They will be refurbing stuff but it wont be anything that new!

And two, look at every single major attraction added in the last few years: TSMM, WOC, ST 2 and TLM. NONE of these things had any major shut downs the first year at all! Yes, TLM shut down a few days this month for a minor refurb, but that was to improve the ride based on audience feedback of it and even did it when the resort was pretty light for attendence. But the others not at all for a long time! In fact, I dont think WOC has had one official shut down yet and thats nearly 2 years old now! I could be wrong on that, but I dont think so and that NEEDS to be shut down for a nice refurb. But WOC proves my point! They know how popular it is, even in low season and its the ONLY major show that is open 365 days a year while shows like F! and Fireworks are dark on the weekdays half the year believe it or not! But not WOC because its too new and popular!

Anyway, dont worry unless there is some major issue with these rides, they will be up all year! And if they go down, it may be 1-2 days, but nothing beyound that for awhile.

Actually I think WOC was down for a few weekdays in January.

Ok I stand corrected then! :)

But that was still a year and a half after it opened for a few days in the slowest month of the year! That proves they try to lessen the impact of closing the newest stuff as long as possible. IMO, WOC needs a good refurb of a few weeks to get it working better but the demand is still too high for it, even 2 years later!

Early this November, Anaheim’s Resort Enhancement department of top-notch decorators and designers will descend on Cars Land with a lavishly budgeted set of custom Christmas decorations. Each shop, restaurant and ride in Cars Land will be decorated for the holidays, in automotive themed designs unique to the Cars character that inhabits each location.

This was from Al Lutz (who writes all about RUMORS, not fact--his rumors are often right, and often wrong).

Again, I agree with the others that it is very unlikely that anything will be down in Cars Land. But the words "descend," "lavish," and "early November" made me think that IF this rumor is true (again, it might not be, or they may wait until next year)...but IF it's true, then it's not IMPOSSIBLE that something (almost certainly not a ride) MIGHT be blocked off for part of a day to be decorated.

I'd rate the possibility of anything remotely disruptive as "very, very small" but I can't put it at 0.

Of course, I can't put the possibility of a meteor striking Disneyland at 0 either, for what it's worth. :flower3:

Again you have nothing to worry about!

DL gets MASSIVE decorations every year for both Halloween and Christmas, nothing ever closes because of it except the ride overlays obviously. DCA will get a lot more Xmas decorations, but nothing will shut down due to it. Even WOC is suppose to get a big new Xmas show, but that wont shut down either. It will be worked on in the night and then will just switch over for the holidays like all the WOC add ons have done!

In fact I been to every resort worldwide for their Xmas holidays and I cant think of a single one that had to shut down some areas or rides to put them up! Not one! Believe me, they been doing this for 10 parks now. CL wont be any different no matter how much they add. It may just take a few more nights, but nothing beyound that.

I agree. They do the massive decorating at night.

So if we go the first week of November. Specifically Nov. 5 - 8 (Mon-Thurs) will there be X-mas decorations going up in the parks? When do they take down the Halloween decor and when do the put up the X-mas decor? Thanks!

And just curious which attractions usually have overlays for Halloween/Thanksgiving or X-mas? I know about HM overlay but not the others. I know HM shuts down for awhile when they put the overlay on and off. I don't know if they shut down other attractions for decor?

I know it sounds weird to people but I grew up going to DL every year and they never did any holiday stuff (except maybe on the actual day?) and I actually prefer the parks without all the decor.

Actually you will oddly be there right between the decorations! Halloween starts sometime in September and go until October 31st. Then Xmas usually dont start until the second week of Novemember and goes through early January. So yeah chances are you wont see them although sometimes they start putting them up a bit a little early.

As far as ride overlays, Space Mountain and HMH are done for Halloween and SM goes back to normal after that holiday. IASW has a Xmas overlay which it sounds like you will miss as well!

And believe me, I hear you about not going to the parks when the decor is up. I felt the same way to for many years, I like to go when the park is just 'normal'. But then I went to Tokyo Disneyland during its Xmas celebrations, actually on Xmas day itself, and I was floored! It was stunningly beautiful how great it looked. I couldnt believe it. And I had a good friend from Great Britian who had never been to a Disney park before and he was just as amazed as well! I think he wouldve been impressed with Disneyland, but with the Xmas decorations made it easier! I didnt see DL decorations for the first time until a few years later and I was still impressed, although not as much as Tokyo's! But now I make it a priority to see Disneyland at Christmas time, especially with all the special events and overlays during that time!

It is pretty cool! :)

Well, unless I hear something that is a game changer, I think early November will be just right for us in so many ways.

Thanks everyone! :)

FYI, Space Mtn goes down for a couple days first week of November to remove the Ghost Galaxy. As long as you have at least 4 days you should be able to catch it.

Thanks - any little pieces of info. helps me be prepared so I'm not too disappointed. SM shouldn't be a big problem. Even if we missed it completely I think I would survive. Now Pirates or ToT down would bother me along with a few other attractions. :)

It took them about 10 or 11 months to shut the Little Mermaid down to change Ariels soft serve hair! I'm sure any major mistakes won't be corrected til next year!

Well now THAT just was crying out to be fixed LOL!
