Worms from hell!!!!

So-called "worms from hell" have been unearthed, and they have raised the possibility of extraterrestrial life. Is ET in these crazy, long organisms? They were found deep below the surface of the Earth, and now they have scientists thinking about the possibilities of this type of life form elsewhere.

The reason for the name "worms from hell" is because these creatures lived more than a mile below the Earth's surface, which must be fairly close to Hell at least by some estimations. They are actually called nematodes, or roundworms, and they were found in South African gold mines.

Tullis Onstott, lead researcher on the project, said, "This is telling us something brand new. For a relatively complex creature like a nematode to penetrate that deep is simply remarkable." The worms have nervous, digestive, and reproductive systems, which is what makes them complex.

Before this dramatic discovery, many researchers believed that such lifeforms could not live in an environment like that found so far under the Earth. Could this discovery mean that there is life on Mars or the Moon or on other planets throughout the Solar System? It certainly opens up the possibility, which is pretty amazing.
