World's Best ACTOR

Ralph Fiennes
Alan Rickman
Jeremy Irons

Yes, they're all Brits...but what a wonderful range they all have. And how can you go wrong with an English accent?

I like someone who can play any character; funny, tough guy, romantic.
Only a few come to mind that can fit the bill:
Jimmy Stewart
Johnny Depp
Tom Hanks
I love Sean Penn but he always plays an angsty (is that a word) guy, he never seems to play anyone lighthearted. Maybe I've missed some of his movies?

he wasn't all that serious in Fast Times at Ridgemont High :cool1: :rotfl:

I never thought I'd say this, but, Johnny Depp.

From Edward Scissorhands to Willy Wonka to Captain Jack Sparrow he becomes the character.

I second that. Johnny Depp is amazing!

I am transfixed by Kevin Spacey. :worship:

Russell Crowe can also transform himself into just about anything.....such as in The Insider. I know people who didn't even realize he was in it. :lmao:

Two roles that stick in my mind: The worst ripoff in Oscar history was when Leonardo DiCaprio was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in What's Eating Gilbert Grape and lost out to Tommy Lee Jones playing Tommy Lee Jones yet again. Leo was perfection in that role and he was only 18 or 19 when he did it. The other role is Philip Seymour Hoffman's portrayal of Truman Capote in (duh) Capote. That Best Actor Oscar was well-deserved. I remember watching Capote on talk shows as a child....never a dull moment with him....and PSH was dead on as Capote.

One that does not get enough credit(IMO)...

Robin Williams

:thumbsup2 & never saw any of these guys give a bad performance...

Robert Redford
James Stewart
Morgan Freeman
Henry Fonda
Tom Hanks
Leonardo DiCaprio
Jack Nicholson
Russel Crowe
Spencer Tracey

Wow this is a tough choice. I honestly can say that Johnny Depp is number one for me. He's the one I look on IMDB each week to see if he is coming out with anything new.

Lots of great actors mentioned. I would have to say Tom Hanks, Jack Nicholson, Morgan Freeman and Robert DeNiro. I think all of them are great in different genres. I like Will Smith too but I'm a child of the 80's...he'll always be the Fresh Prince!

In no particular order:

Daniel Day-Lewis

Russell Crowe

Tom Hanks

Tom Cruise

Christian Bale

Those that are no longer with us: River Phoenix, Heath Ledger, Sir Alec Guiness

Tom Hanks
I love Sean Penn but he always plays an angsty (is that a word) guy, he never seems to play anyone lighthearted. Maybe I've missed some of his movies?
You have to watch I am Sam. Excellent movie has Dakota Fanning and Michelle Piffer sp??

Sean Penn
Edward Norton
Daniel Day Lewis
Al Pacino
Denzel WAshington

Jimmy Stewart
Henry Fonda
Morgan Freeman
Spencer Tracy
William Holden
Sidney Poitier
Johnny Depp

For me:

Johnny Depp
Heath Ledger (I decided that all the way back when he was in Roar :( )
Jack Nicholson
Gary Sinise
Steve Martin
Will Smith
Cary Grant
Humphrey Bogart
Orson Welles
Gregory Peck
William Powell

There are many actors that I'm still too unfamiliar with. I'm working on it though!

For me it's between Leonardo DiCaprio and Steve Buscemi (although I'm also quite partial to Matthew McConaughey :lovestruc)

Johnny Depp.

It's amazing what he can do. He's so diversified!
Plus he's gorgious!!
