We are planning to do a quick serve lunch tour at Epcot. Idea is that each of our family (5) picks a country and gets one meal, then brings back and we all share something from each country. I haven't been to the country side of Epcot in a long time so two questions:
1. Is there a communal table area between countries or that is not just for a speific restaurant where we can all meet and share?
2. Any quick serves stand out as better or as serving more authentic meals than others?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Sounds like a great plan! However please keep in mind, the countries are spread out and the QS do not have "to go" containers. Most of the QS places have their own individual seating, but you can still bring in a QS meal from another country, no worries. My concern would be getting something at another countries QS and bring back to your table with no "to go" container....cold food, and germs on my meal walking it thru the park.

An alternative, and just a suggestion, would be eat at each of the 5 QS you pick. Sample and move on to the next country.

Recommendations: Bakery in France has a wonderful cheese platter with a baguette and ham and cheese quiche and the desserts (oh MY), England Fish and Chips, Katsura Grille in Japan, La Cantina San Angel in Mexico.

this was my first thought but with three kids figured the moving place to place would lose their interest or they'd fill up early on.

Thanks for preferences of where to go.

maybe not 5 countries, perhaps two or three? maybe japan morocco and france meeting in morocco? or mexico norway china? germany italy america would be fun too.

The countries are pretty far apart. I would keep that in mind. My short list would be Mexico, Japan, France (for sure), Morroco (for sure), England, Norway. Not so short, but there is lots of good food in WS.

We saw this very same thing happen. Everyone met back at the Liberty Tree Tavern outside seating area. Only it was 13 people and they all had specific tasks (entree or dessert and a country). We only watched but everyone had so much fun with with the others brought.

My personal experience - my son got the nachos from Mexico to go, I got the egg rolls and pot stickers from Chine to go, we went back to America (sense a pattern?) and then my husband got the cheeseburger basket to eat. We all ate outside, had a great time.

The food doesn't go cold all that quickly. You can do this and have a lot of fun.

Anything can be done, but I think so many of the countries are so far apart. It's a 1.2 mile trip around the World Showcase. So that means some spots are over a half a mile apart. So you'd have to walk a half mile (potentially) to get to the QS outlet and then walk another half mile to get back to the meeting place. That could be a half an hour wait (or more). If the park is crowded you can't walk too fast and if you have to wait in line at the QS counter, that could add to the total time.

That said, as others have previously mentioned, you can pick three countries that are kind of grouped together and that would likely work much better.

Sounds like fun though!

We did a version of this on our last trip - there are only 3 of us.

I got something from Sunshine Seasons (in the land and they had to go covers for the plates)

We took the boat out to Morocco - dh got something from Morocco and met DD and I in Japan where we had gotten her sushi. We shared food and ate in Japan.

Depending on where you want to get food and how old the kids are you may divide and conquer some walking and some taking the boat out (which depending on timing may save time/ walking).

have fun!

Thanks for the idea everyone. Since we have two days planned at Epcot I ink we'll do a grouping each day. Three sounds like the right number. Morocco, france, Japan and then China, Germany and Mexico sounds like a good mix.

this every trip. We usually end up with 3 or 4 countries.

The American pavilion is one of the easier places to meet with it being the center of World Showcase. My kids like standard fare so we always have something from their CS. The indoor seating is rarely full even during busier hours. There is also seating outside if the weather is nice.

Ours is driven by tastes rather than sampling. The most common areas we hit are US, Germany, Japan, Morocco and China.
