Hi,
They did a full run through test of World of Color late last night. Those staying in the Grand Californian got a great view (and the sound is loud).

Sorry if this was already posted but I didn't see it

Thanks, very cool video. I can imagine the impact it will have on the crowds. OMG.

I'm not so patiently waiting for it to load, might have to try @ home later. Thanks for the link.

Wow!!! Thanks for posting that! It is like a wild amped up Bellagio from that angle!

Very cool! It's like a fireworks show with water. It seems similar to Fantasmic!, though, except grander. Will they still keep running Fantasmic! after WOC gets on it's feet?

I saw this posted on Micechat, but I'm not looking!! It's so tempting, but NOPE! I"ll be surprised the first time I see it. :upsidedow

What amazed me was that it is obviously filmed from a hotel room at Grand Californian and the sound was pretty loud and audible. If anyone is planning on going to bed over there and that show is running.....good luck. Yes, they will keep running Fantasmic during the normally scheduled season that Fantasmic normally runs. It isn't running right now as it is out of season and Rivers of America is going through it's refurbishment right now and are drained. When Fantasmic is running it will be schedule at opposite times of World of Color and their normal fireworks show. You can only have so many fireworks going off in a close proximity at one time after all. The idea behind that is honestly to get people packed in for one show then get them moving to another park to see the other show. I wasn't honestly impressed with the world of color show. It does seem like an overdone version of the Bellagio fountains in Vegas. They used to have a smaller water fountain show at the Disneyland Hotel back in the day. Turns out is was the base for the idea behind world of color. Whew, that's a lot. I know a lot of people that are performers at Disneyland (Fantasmic, Celebrate street party, etc.) so I get my info from them, I also have a friend (Who I will just call Mr, Aronson) who is one of the heads of the pyrotechnic department and sets off the firework shows.

Does anyone have an educated guess or speculation if they will be running these "tests" for the next two months? We are staying at the GC May 11-16th and I would love to see WOC without the crowds that are destined in June. I am so happy the release has been delayed until after our trip. Also, where in the GC can one watch the tests? Only in your park view room, or are there semi-public areas of the hotel that hotel guests can watch?

TIA!!:yay:

Fantasmic will continue to run, not only is the Rivers of America under rehab but Fantasmic is too. Though I haven't seen any specific information if the plot will change it has been suggested. I did read in an offical Disney parks release that the dragon is changing.

From the GC the parkview rooms look mostly toward Grizzly Peak, not the lagoon. Some of the new villas at the GC do look South but they aren't at the angle the show is set up for. This is mostly because of the relative positions of the GC and the redwood creek challenge Those tall trees do a good job of blocking the view into the park or of keeping the mountain lodge theming in tact.

The video is definitly cool. I noticed that it doesn't show the images on the water screens only coloring. Also the sound is good not great. I think that is because of the distance. You can constanly hear the water crashing creating a fuzzy noise in the audio. I imagine the speakers around Paradise Park will block this out.

I also want to dispell the notion that this is going to show so that people can go park to park to see two shows. This is exactly the opposite of the truth. Disney had problems with people staying at DCA all day. People were in fact leaving in the evening to see Fantasmic and Wishes. To make DCA a full day park they developed a great nightime performance. I would expect them to play at roughly all the same times. And like in DL WoC will play two showings on high attendance days.

Is WoC a colored Bellagio Fountain show? Watch both, the Bellagio will never be cool again.

First I want to correct the notion that this is shot from the GC. Look at the zephyr and funwheel and you will see that it is from the Disneyland Hotel.

Sorry to disagree, but the original video was posted from a laughingplace.com member who stated that they were staying at the GCH, and the video was shot from the view terrace on the 6th floor. http://www.laughingplace.com/Lotion-View-1024.asp

None of the towers at the DLH give this vantage point at DCA. Perhaps the PPH does, but not the DLH.

I have a question about WOC, not sure if anyone will know or not. Are there pictures involved or back drops of the different movies, or is it all just color and water to tell the stories. Thanks.:goodvibes[/I]

Hear, hear! I want to experience it in person the first time! But it is so exciting that it is up and nearly ready to go.:cheer2:

Yes they will have video on the water screens in back. I have seen some videos testing them. Though not with content from the show.
In some of the official video talking about the show they indicate what the videos will be of. Of course you could hear the audio in this clip, so you can probably guess.

Awesome, thanks so much!!!:thumbsup2

We'll be there June 11-17th, and I can't decide if I want it to open then, or dread it. Aren't they doing some type of fastpass to be able to see it?

I did read that they will do somthing along the fastpass for viewing. I don't many details and it wasn't anything official.

It read along the lines that for the second showing they would line people up near the sunshine plaza, and close of paradise park. Then they would walk the mass of people from the plaza into paradise park before the show.

Sounds kind of convoluted but my source is really on top DLR behind the scences happenings.

Like you I think Disney has some worries about how it's going to start since the season will be busy. They did originally call for WoC to open in March and now it's right as schools are starting summer break.
