World of Color Superthread

Just to clarify, no one gets "preferred seating". You get "preferred standing".

I too thought there would be a special area for diners. But since they are only apparently giving out 2000 FPs per show that leaves 2000+ diners to get to the 4000+ viewers. So preferred may not mean much in the end.

lol. :) Yes, preferred standing.

Maybe those with preferred are those who preferred to get soaked by the water? lol. Won't be me. ;)

Okay, I am sorry, but I guess the answers about this are frusturating me a bit, and maybe I am just not getting it.

The way it sounds is I will get a FP after I pay for my meal and just be lumped in with everyone else that got a Free FP? I thought the dining package came with preferred viewing. That to me means that all those with dining packages are in the same spot, with preferred viewing.

I really apologize if I am just not getting it.

We're all confused. :) Some of the guinea pigs will report back after tonight and then everything will be much clearer.

I am totally with you. I am hoping someone gives more experienced information. I thought it was preferred seating but the way the OP said it sounds like you are grouped with everyone else...???

You will get a FP for a different color section. That section is the preferred viewing section of the overall viewing area. :goodvibes

That doesn't make much sense. Why would anyone want to pay $15 for a sub-par meal just to be in the same viewing area as a regular fast pass?

I agree! I called today to ask about it and I was actually told something different from what is in this thread. I was assurred that the people with the sit down dining meals (i.w. Ariel's Grotto) would get reserved "preferred" seating in the front tier. Those who purchaed a picnic meal would be given tickets in the 2nd tier, and those with fast passes will be primarily in the third tier, but they would also have a few FP's sprinkled throughout the first and seond tier....

I hope this is true, because I only purchaed the picnic lunch to insure that we wouldn't be in the way back. I will be upset if this isn't true. Looking forward to hearing what happens over the next few days.....

I'm guessing the same reason someone pays for the Fantasmic Dessert seating (which I wouldn't do) You don't have to stand in line for a FP, don't have to get up early to stand in the line, you just have to pick up you reserved picnic meal and get your FP. Until we get reports back from the brave guinea pigs and wait for Disney to tweak anything they're going to tweak, it's anyone's guess. $15 for a sub par meal? Have you had an advance tasting of the picnic meals?

Gosh people, let's let the guinea pigs do their job and put together their initial report. I'm even thinking of offering my DH and myself up as a picnic dinner guinea pigs if i can still order the picnic dinner. It's our night to listen to the swing band and we're going to eat dinner there anyway. (Yes, we are local APs that spend money in the parks)

They are in the wheelchair/accessible area. They are there for people who need to sit and for people who are with those in wheelchairs so those in wheelchairs do not have their view blocked by accompanying friends and family.

This is what I am afraid of, they will put the wheelchairs in the back near the benches and pack all the other "sardines" in front, thus blocking the view of anyone who is short or can not stand.

From what I've seen (at an angle), a lot happens at ground level which can't be seen from the hotel rooms. There are small water projection screens that come up during the show and they don't look nearly as tall as some of the other larger projections.

Personally, I would rather be a little farther back. One, the closer you are, the wetter the mist ;) Two, you are up one level, close enough to see the details but far enough back to see the whole picture. Three, the only lower level first tier area I wouldn't mind being in is in the area by the bridge. It's the same angle that most of the preview show was shown at. Four, not knowing the traffic pattern to get out, but the bottom tier on the CM preview night was pretty slow emptying which is probably why they have the short little water/music show afterwards.

I agree. I have no desire to be up front. I think second tier sounds good to me! I'm just hoping the hoopla dies down before we go (late September.)

Do you think the picnic box meal spots will be the same everyday or will they alter every day like the fastpasses/colored sections? Will everyone's ticket say to come back between 7:30 and 8:30?

Someone on Twitter (username "artimus") posted a couple pictures that might give some insight for the Preferred Viewing/dining folks...

This is the first indication I've seen of where the Preferred Viewing area might be.

I am not sure how to explain it other than as I did above. What I was attempting to explain above is that two of the areas with the benches is for guests with wheelchairs or accessible needs. The benches are for those who are with those in wheelchairs so everyone is essentially at the same height in that area, making is so everyone can see and no one has a blocked view. No one gets packed in like a "sardine" and those who cannot stand can see perfectly, as that area us specifically designed to make sure that is the case.

Hope that helps.

That is exactly the area that I posted a picture of above. His pic is taken from the top tier.

You aren't EXACTLY in the same area. Regular FPs are in a specific section of the viewing area, based on color. Picnic boxes are in another specific section of the viewing area. WCT and AG diners are in another specific section of the viewing area.

Additionally, those who pay for the box or TS meals do not have to hassle with getting (hoping to get) FPs.

If you pre-order prior to the day of, you will get a FP for the 1st show. If you order walk-up day-of you will get a FP for the 2nd show. Return times for 1st and 2nd show are the same accordingly.

Unfortunately, this is not true. We purchased the picnic meals (in advance, online), and we were given "yellow" section Fast Passes. This "picnic meal/yellow" section was, in fact, the VERY BACK section; there was no section behind us. . . and, we were, unfortunately, the back row of our "section".

The bottom line for me was: I could see nothing but the head of the man in front of me. I had not planned to video tape, but, holding my video camera up high and video taping was my only hope of seeing the show; so, I tried to keep my video camera up high enough to catch the show for me to watch later.

I admit that we were not "in line" to get into the "yellow" section right when they began letting people in (which was around 7:15 pm), but, I still had hopes of being able to at least "see" the show. That did not happen. It was frustrating and disappointing that, even with "advance planning" such as purchasing the picnic meal, still brings challenges, such as not being able to see, due to height issues within the section. We had originally booked the Ariel's package, then changed our minds and purchased the picnic meals; I do not know how different our experience would have been if we had gone with the Ariel's package. I would initially think that we would have had a better viewpoint and better experience; however, there is likely just as good of a chance that I would have still been behind someone taller than me, as happened in the "yellow" section; so, my experience could have still been the same.

Hope this helps!

Just out of curiosity forevercruising how tall are you; if you don't mind me asking. My GF is around 5'5" so I'm hoping she won't have any issues.

Noooooo! I also had a booked the Ariel's package but purchased the picnic deal after speaking to the dining reservations CM. I'm going to call back tomorrow. This whole process is so frustrating! Sorry you couldn't see anything. :(
