Hello all, just wanting to post here as I am arriving in Disney on the 9th and leaving on the 16th. Not planning to visit the park over the weekend. Not interested in WOC as this is our first trip and we have lots to see besides that. IF the majority of people are turning up to get passes for WOC in the morning it's going to be busy but won't they all be lining up at DCA for early entry? I am hoping that DLR won't be sooo bad in the morning but more in the afternoon when everyone has there tickets already.
What do you think? We are planning to get out of there at 1pm then return at 6pm. I would imagine the first wave of WOC fans will be lining up to get the good seats etc... so again hopefully DLR won't be that busy.
But then again I have never been to Disney!!!
Cheers,
Disneyland Park is almost never very busy in the morning. The first hour or two is generally magical (with Fantasyland somewhat busy at park opening on Magic Morning days). You can walk onto almost any ride of your choosing right at opening, and the waits for even Space Mountain are almost always quite low for 30 minutes or more after park opening.
Rumors are that there will only be Showpass--er, World of Color Fastpasses--for the first show, or around 6000 World of Color Fastpasses. I don't know DLR's max capacity, but even if you say it's 50,000, 6,000 people in any one line MAY make Disneyland a little less busy early in the morning, but it won't last. Plus if it is like any other Fastpass line, or like any other group of people waiting for Fantasmic or fireworks, the average person who's there that early will be getting Fastpasses for several people. So that 6,000 person line will really probably be more like a 2,000 person line. The travel partners of those 2,000 people, many of whom would normally never show up to Disneyland at park opening, will be enjoying the parks.
Even if you have to physically be in the line to get a Fastpass, I would guess it will take no more than 4 hours for all the Fastpasses to be gone. If that is true, then in the first hour, there could be 1,500 people leaving the Fastpass line in that first hour. Again, those most of those 1500 people may go out into the parks and those people may not have normally gotten there early normally.
And don't forget that there will just be record crowds coming to see the show, and some of them will want to make the most out of their day and will get there as early as they can.
In short, I think Disneyland will still be great in the morning, but it's possible WoC could make morning crowds worse instead of better.
I will be there for several of your dates. It'll be fine.
