World of Color Superthread

Disney will do what they will do when they are ready and then they will de-bug the process from there. Looks like everyone is having fun speculating.

I thought June 24th was a Grad Night? Any ideas as to why DCA is open until 10:00 pm? It looks like DCA was closing at 6:00 pm on other Grad Nights. Am I missing something?
Almost certainly a mistake by Disney they will fix soon.

:eek:Just when it looked like they were starting to make decisions and finalize things, they changed their minds again? I don't mind not knowing. That is just the name of the game. What is making me nervous is the constant back and forth. And by that I don't mean what Al Lutz is reporting, I mean what Disney is putting out on their website such as posting that there will be dining packages for WOC and then deleting it and going back and forth with DCA's closing time in June.
Disney never posted that there will be a dining package. That was only speculative inference on a single sentence that refered to eating and a watching a show.

I think the hours change often. It's only when we pay attention that we notice.

That seems to be the trend. Since your not mentioning about about the cast preview, you probably dont know much yet either then. With all the hype they are gonna need some sort of idea on crowd control. But I bet you they just have too much on their plate trying to figure out how to accomodate everyone. Specially with the hours changing constantly for DCA. They have a few weeks to figure it out! :-)

not quite, :).

Below is an excerpt that appeared on the Disneyland website on May 10th. It was first quoted in this thread in post #155.

Dining Enhances Your Magical Evening
World of Color takes the idea of dinner and a show to a whole new level. Whether you reserve one of the special dining experiences or want to get a quick snack before the show, World of Color will be the centerpiece of a great night out.

Exactly, Doesn't Disney think that Napa Rose or Blue Bayou are special dining experinces that you reserve?

It says nothing of a dining/show package.

Hmmm...the official Disneyland world of color says-

Are we debating if there was reference to a dining package? If so, this is what I originally posted off the WOC page on DL's site, and the inference is indeed (especially considering it had been added to that particular page) that a special dining experience for WOC will be available, or that you can snack on your own.

Considering they removed this after a huge influx of calls, and CM's are under the assumption that there will indeed be Premium dining, etc, but not sure when that will start, I would say that is what they're heading for, but they aren't sure how to handle it until they see what happens when the show goes "live."

Maybe I'm just confused on what we're saying? :confused3

I'm saying that we don't know there will be a dining package. It's all based on assumptions.

Hello all, just wanting to post here as I am arriving in Disney on the 9th and leaving on the 16th. Not planning to visit the park over the weekend. Not interested in WOC as this is our first trip and we have lots to see besides that. IF the majority of people are turning up to get passes for WOC in the morning it's going to be busy but won't they all be lining up at DCA for early entry? I am hoping that DLR won't be sooo bad in the morning but more in the afternoon when everyone has there tickets already.

What do you think? We are planning to get out of there at 1pm then return at 6pm. I would imagine the first wave of WOC fans will be lining up to get the good seats etc... so again hopefully DLR won't be that busy.

But then again I have never been to Disney!!!

Cheers,

Cheers,

Disneyland Park is almost never very busy in the morning. The first hour or two is generally magical (with Fantasyland somewhat busy at park opening on Magic Morning days). You can walk onto almost any ride of your choosing right at opening, and the waits for even Space Mountain are almost always quite low for 30 minutes or more after park opening.

Rumors are that there will only be Showpass--er, World of Color Fastpasses--for the first show, or around 6000 World of Color Fastpasses. I don't know DLR's max capacity, but even if you say it's 50,000, 6,000 people in any one line MAY make Disneyland a little less busy early in the morning, but it won't last. Plus if it is like any other Fastpass line, or like any other group of people waiting for Fantasmic or fireworks, the average person who's there that early will be getting Fastpasses for several people. So that 6,000 person line will really probably be more like a 2,000 person line. The travel partners of those 2,000 people, many of whom would normally never show up to Disneyland at park opening, will be enjoying the parks.

Even if you have to physically be in the line to get a Fastpass, I would guess it will take no more than 4 hours for all the Fastpasses to be gone. If that is true, then in the first hour, there could be 1,500 people leaving the Fastpass line in that first hour. Again, those most of those 1500 people may go out into the parks and those people may not have normally gotten there early normally.

And don't forget that there will just be record crowds coming to see the show, and some of them will want to make the most out of their day and will get there as early as they can.

In short, I think Disneyland will still be great in the morning, but it's possible WoC could make morning crowds worse instead of better.

I will be there for several of your dates. It'll be fine. :)

I'm not sure you should avoid the weekend. The SoCal AP holders are blocked out Fri-Sun so the parks may be quieter than usual. If they want to see WoC they make just by a DCA ticket only and not be in DL.

On the Monday and Tuesday after it will be open to all APs so this may make a mess in DCA.

Though I agree that if they have showpass distribution starting at the opening of DCA, that DL will be much quieter until 11 when the bulk of people get showpasses and start to spread out.

I think a lot of AP-holders may buy a blockout day hopper for $45--probably not a one-day pass unless the Southern California locals get a 2-fer (spelling?) or Give a Day pass.

I may know the wrong people in this world, but the AP holders that I know would not spend $45 for a free show.

Locals, maybe not (especially when you factor in that they'd also have to pay for parking). Families, maybe not. Local families, probably not, as that $45 per person adds up quick. But I have an AP and live about 7 hours away from Disneyland so I will definitely be buying a blockout pass that day.

"A lot" was a poor choice of words, but I was saying that I don't think many AP-holders will be buying one park passes for $72 when they can get blockout tickets good for both parks for $45. So I'm not sure that too many people will be restricted just to DCA if they came over to see WoC.

We are here now. Room 3508. Nice view, except for that stupid ride blocking Mickey's face. Anyway, no soft opening, obviously, but lots of testing. Saw the whole show with music one night (show went on a bit after music finale), and only saw part of one projection (buzz) so pretty well agreed view from the VGC would be poor. But last night, they tested the screens and projections and we saw the projections just fine and screens that seemed to be tested in vertical sections..very large and bright and eventually covered what looked like the whole lagoon. When it all incorporates tgogether, the projections might not be good, but our view of them last night were fine. Most of them were static, but some had motion and that coming at you effect. After seeing this I'm hopeful the views from the VGC may be better than previojsly thought.
BTW..villas are wonderful!

Thanks for the replies, I agree with what you are saying Eeee-Va, I think most people will gradually wander over to the DL side of the park after grabbing tickets.

We will just play it by ear, have a full day Thurs 10th, then see what Friday holds, might just spend the morning on a few rides then walk around and explore some of the non-ride activities. Sat/Sun we will be at the beach and then we'll return to the park Mon. Tues (MM).

Can't wait.

Cheers,

Thanks for the report! :goodvibes

Any chance they will run the fountains during the day just having them come on every half hr or so for people to see. Like a little 5min show or something like that?

That would be neat! Even just on the hour....makes me think of Small World's clock.

I totally agree with having little minishows now and then. But I think keeping the platform supporting the nozzles submerged and out of site is the plan.
