World of Color Superthread

I just booked my dinner package, I opted for 6pm at wine country and the 9pm show, I think I may have to change it to an earlier time. We are going late June, they were pretty open with times. Help?!

If you are allowed to, because they will want to space out the dinner and show so you can make both. I'd eat later while Paradise Pier is slowing down for the first show. Otherwise you may get done and have a more crowded park to deal with that you could of avoided.

...I wonder if I am going to have to get specific "orders" from all 17 people in our party in order to get the picnic or if we make a reservation to hold our "picnic spot"?....

I'm not sure I understand your question. If you choose the picnic box meal package, you order a boxed lunch from the choices available, pick up your boxed meal on the day of, and get a ticket to watch WoC from the reserved area. If everyone in your group wants a boxed meal (and a ticket), then a boxed meal will have to be ordered for each person.

For each pre-ordered boxed meal, 1 ticket for the first show will be issued upon picking up boxed meal. For each boxed meal ordered on-site day of, 1 ticket for the second show will be issued.

There is no "picnic spot" that is held. You are buying a boxed meal and a spot in the reserved area.

Did that help???

Yup. :)

I am just anticipating having to E-mail 17 people to find out what they want for lunch 3 weeks from now. We can hardly handle sorting out a Mc Donald's meal for 4, much less our whole crew!! :lmao:

If it was me I would order for them. A certain # of turkey, ham, etc., whatever. Then share. :)

The wife / friend in me feels sooooo for you. The event planner in me is thinking you need this:

"Dear _____,

To make your upcoming vacation easier, I am handling all arrangements for dinner on June ___. All you have to do is reply to this email. You may pick 1, 2, 3, 4. No variations are available. Pricing is ___. Thank you for your prompt reply. If a reply is not received by ____, you will be eating old honey-stung fried chicken. ;)

Thanks,
NMMickeymom :goodvibes"

:rotfl:, but seriously,

Remember, it's just dinner. More accurately, it's just a boxed lunch to get everyone a ticket to avoid having to deal with the FPs.

Or.... You could always just order 17 of the same thing, not tell anyone anything, and let them appreciate that you made arrangements for them to easily watch the new amazing show at DLR! :wizard:

You're a saint for agreeing to arrange for 17 meals.

Fantastic - there should always be some sort of "if you don't get back to me, this is the default scenario" statement. No chasing people down required; just one reminder email "For those who haven't yet sent me their choice..." and after that, they'd better like chicken ;) I love it.

I'm online at work so haven't taken all of this in, so apologies if I might be asking something already mentioned here already...

Do we know how many people the 'reserved picnic seating area' actually holds?

Nope. We think there will be 2000 spots for reserved dining and/or picnic. And unless I missed something, the reserved area is standing - not seating.

No, and for clarity there is no "reserved picnic seating". Disney says there is reserved viewing for people who purchase the Picnic Meal.

Thanks for the replies - possibly 2000 people, good grief, it still sounds a bit like a bun fight. :faint: Yep, realised it was a 'general admission' area, I think I worded that a bit ambiguosly.

Looking forward to hearing how it all goes in the next few weeks!

Anyone else notice the difference in wording? Picnic people will get "reserved viewing" and those who choose Prix Fixe at AG or WCT will get "Preferred Reserved Viewing". Sounds like you can't get into the new park viewing area without a pass of some kind.

According to official word from Disney, you will not be able view from Paradise Park without a pass for the show. The have said you can watch from the boardwalk without a pass.

What area is considered the boardwalk? I've got my DCA map out and can put my finger on it. Like over by screaming?

My guess would be the Bridge that Ariels is on to TSMM because the walkway is edged by wood.

The Allears Blog yesterday mentioned special treats for WOC -

Guests who prefer a treat or snack, perhaps with a souvenir “World of Color” takeaway, may choose from a number of bright and colorful options available at food locations inside Disney’s California Adventure:
•“Spectrum Splash”: Beverages in light-up souvenir glasses with a colorful choice of flavors – strawberry red, blueberry blue, or sour Granny Smith apple green.
•“Light-Up Cotton Candy”: White cotton candy with a colorful swirl, on an illuminated wand that lights the cotton candy from inside.
•Multi-Colored & Flavored Popcorn: A delicious treat that comes in three flavors – red cherry, blueberry and purple grape – and mixed in with regular kettle corn, all served in a Disney’s California Adventure see-through “World of Color” souvenir popcorn bucket.
•Tropical Mist Cocktail (for adults): It’s a passion fruit and mango liqueur with coconut rum – and a light-up swizzle stick. Available at the Cove Bar and Ariel’s Grotto restaurant.
•Even More Fun: Light-Up Balloons – transparent balloons with light-up “World of Color” art inside; Light-Up Bangle Bracelets; and souvenir “World of Color” travel mugs and sipper cups.
