Working on Weight Loss During Training—New Year New Us!

Like Dave states don't let the scale rule your life. Muscle weights more than fat so you can have no weight loss but your clothes fit better. Weight loss is like marathon training, you will have good weeks and bad weeks but just keep plugging along and you will reach your goal.

I have been on a slow weight loss program for the last 3 months since coming back from Goofy #2. I tried to reduce my caloric intake to lose a 1/2 a pound a week and have lost 15 pounds so far. Down to 156. I hope to lose another 1 1/2 pounds before Minnie. I cut an average of about 250 calories a day for the last 3 months to lose this weight. I have cut my snacks out and reduce portion sizes. After 3 months, I get fuller eating less. I drink lots of water everyday(about a gal to 1 1/2 gal). This helps keep me full:)

Keep up the work and never forget the final goal.

See some of you at Minnie, ToT, or Goofy 08

Thank you Robert.

We are having a good day, I saved us 350 on the room for the TOT and Erica shopped us a better rate for car insurance, We have a daughter who has totaled two cars.:scared1:

Duh on me Dave - I guess I failed to notice that you have Goofy 08 in your signature!!! Congrats on saving money - that is always a perk!

Robert - I am a turtle loser. If I lose 3-5 pounds a month, that is a very good month. This is my third time losing weight (2 pregnancies make you gain more than you should!!) and every time I lose super slow. But I tend to keep it off (except for getting PG), so that is a good thing!

Hi, everyone! I am sorry I haven't been around. I had a 2 week period where I was literally working all hours of the day and night and my eating suffered terribly. It came right after I had hit 70 pounds lost on WW, so I have been beating myself up about blowing that achievement.

I went away this past weekend to see my Aunt and Uncle and had a very hard time with them about food and finally had to put my foot down and tell them NOT to offer me food anymore. There was literally NOT an hour of the weekend (except when I was sleeping) when food was not an issue, even if it was to have a list recited to me of all the food options available. It was so hard for me to deal with. I came back from the weekend weighing 3.5 more than my 70 lb loss. UGH! I really buckled down Sunday night and all day yesterday and drank a lot of water and burned over 540 calories on the treadmill last night and saw 2.3 of those pounds drop off when I stood on the scale this morning. My goal is to lose 3.4 pounds before the Minnie. I know that sounds entirely do-able, but my body just doesnt' seem to cooperate! ;)

Yesterday's food was good:
B: lite english muffin w/1 slice fat free cheese; coffee w/half & half(they were out of skim milk at my coffee place)
L: Lean Cuisine chicken primavera; garden salad w/1 oz fat free feta & 1/2 serving fat free raspberry vinegarette dressing
D: 99% lean ground turkey (so excited I found this at trader joe's) mixed with onion & A-1 steak sauce; shrimp & broccoli stir fry (to get in my healthy oils)dessert: hostess mini 3 pack carrot cake

And here is my training (x-post):
I am glad to report I got some training in last night. 60 minutes on the TM. The first 30 was intervals of walk 3 at 4.0-4.2 mph then jog 2 minutes at 5.2 mph. I did 2.28 miles in 30 minutes (278 calories) -- pace 13:09!!!! Then I was going to quit but decided to do some incline work. OMG, incline work is NOT easy! I stayed mostly around 4 mph but increased the incline gradually from .5 - 5.0. I did 2.07 in 30 minutes (14:30 pace) and burned 270 calories.

Today's food:
B: coffee w/skim milk; lite english muffin w/1 slice fat free cheese
L: extra lean ground turkey w/onion, corn & A-1
D: stir fry shrimp & broccoli w/EVOO

Hi everybody :wave2:

I'm new to posting to the disboards, though I've been lurking off and on since around this time last year

A little info about me:

I'm 28 years old and looking to eat healthier and get fitter for my upcoming wedding in January. One disclaimer - I'm not overweight, but I would like to look better in a bathing suit (I live in FL), lose 5-7 lbs, and definitely tone up more. Snacking at work has become an issue lately because I have a major sweet tooth and am often bored.

I'm planning on doing the WDW half marathon, which is a week before the wedding, so I need to focus on losing weight during training (instead of gaining a few like I did with this past WDW marathon). I think holding myself accountable on the boards will help me curb the mindless snacking.

Have a great day! :hippie:

Good Afternoon!

Here's how I'm doing so far:

B -- oatmeal and milk
S -- Kashi bar
L-- LC lemon pepper fish, carrots, pudding
S -- grapes, cheese, a few caramel kisses
D -- ham and beans, WW dessert orLorna Doone 100 cal pak

I'm also on track to get on the TM when I get home. DS has gymnastics, so he and dh will be out of the house. Not an obstacle in sight between me and my workout! My house is even pretty neat and clean from preparing for Easter, so I hopefully won't feel any guilt.

Crazy -- I can't believe you are running a half marathon one week before you get married! You must be a bundle of energy. You will be so proud on your wedding day, what a fantastic week you are going to have!

Cam -- So good to hear from you! Relatives are tough. They are well-meaning, but sometimes just can't hear what you are saying. It sounds like you were able to quickly get back on track, and you will be pleased at how you are still making progress. :goodvibes

Jen -- We will be At WDW August 26 - 29, then RPR until Labor Day. We won't be taking advantage of free dining because dh refuses to spend that many days at Disney, he really doesn't like it at all. Our school will start the Wednesday after Labor Day, we'll have three half days that week. That perplexes me. Why?:confused3

Dave -- Great job on the savings for your ToT trip! Do you have spring yet in Kentucky? We are still waiting up North -- we're expecting snow on Thursday

Robert -- It sounds like you are doing great! Thanks for the pep talk, it is always appreciated :)

Kristi -- I think I'll be checking out sparkpeople, too. I could use a little sizzle to get me going!:rotfl:

Beth -- So great to hear from you! How's it goin'? Tomorrow morning is my baseline weigh-in. Yep, I have to start again. It's only down from there, though! Down with the weight and up with the training! :cool1:

Everyone have a fantastic day!
Maria

Wow two children, I'm humbled by your accomplishment. Bringing a new life into our world is just the best thing there is. You rock girl.
:cheer2:

Dave:hippie:

Maria- when people call me crazy, it's usually not right to my face!:rotfl2: I guess CrazySecretRecipe isn't the best screenname, but there's a funny story behind it involving a top secret family coffee cake recipe. I could tell you more, but, you know...

Kristi- Thanks for the welcome!

So here's the plan for today:

B: Veggie burger on light bread with one slice FF cheese, mustard and a little ketchup; no sugar added hot cocoa (60 cals).
L: One slice tofurkey roast, steamed broccoli, and stuffing (Easter leftovers)
S: No sugar added yogurt w/ approx 1-2 tbs sunflower seeds
D: Usually I eat some FF cottage cheese with salsa, green olives, and tortilla chips. Trying to cut down the chips and need to actually serve myself a portion instead of just eating from the containers.
"S": Glass of red wine.

I'm really trying to cut down on the sugar, so I'm getting the no sugar added products and slowly weaning myself off the ketchup, which has a lot of sugar and which I used to eat way too much of. I know that's a weird thing to eat too much of.

Jennifer glad you are joining us for the Tower Of Tower event. We are thinking of getting in groups by pace for the 13K.

Dave:)

Hi Everyone!

I did three miles on the TM, and was so full from dinner I skipped dessert. I'm calling yesterday a win.

Jennifer -- I am so sorry! I did not mean to insult you at all. When I write my replies I usually go in advanced mode, so I can't see your signature. I'm also lazy, hence I didn't write your entire name. I apologize profusely. :flower3: Your salsa, cottage cheese, green olive tortilla concoction sounds yummy!

Kristi-- How was your spontaneous trip? I hope you had a fantastic time! :cloud9:

Dave -- You are going to have a parade for the ToT! :cool1: I'm envious, you guys are going to have a blast.

I did my baseline weigh-in this morning, and all I can say is :scared1:. I'm glad I did it, though. It helps to be honest with myself.

So today I plan to do a short walk on the TM. I haven't been moving at all -- or at least it feels that way. I think I need to schedule walking in addition to running and biking.

Everyone have a fantastic day!
Maria

Dave- I am so there for the ToT race. They had me even before the glow in the dark race shirt, which is so cool I can't believe it. I'm usually around a 10 minute mile.

Maria- Absolutely no apologies necessary, I was totally JK. I know there are a lot of Jens here already, so you can call me Jennifer, Crazy, or whatever falls in between. LOL I think you were actually kind not to point out that I answered to "crazy" so readily :lmao:

I didn't run this morning because I woke up with a bad sore throat and headache, but I did bring gym clothes with me to work just in case I felt better later. I do feel better, and it's a short run day, so I'm hoping for a 3 miler after work.

Have a good day!

Good morning, everyone! What a gorgeous day (even if it is cold) and I am feeling very good about being back on track for 2 days in a row. The scale was down another .4 this morning, so I am now only .8 away from being at my 70 pounds loss again and only 1 pound over where I weighed in at WW 3 weeks ago. I am hoping to have that off plus a bit more before next Tuesday's weigh in.
I did 30 minutes on the recumbent bike last night. I think sparkpeople said I burned about 300 calories. That's good, because I ate a lean cuisine last night that was well within my allowed calories, but which I could have done without. Dessert was the new yummy hostess mini cakes -- 100 calories and 3 grams fat, so not too much damge for a great treat.

Today's meal plan is up in the air since I have a professional lunch. Hoping to find something great on the menu and resist the lobster bisque and the open faced crab melt that this restaurant is famous for.

Jennifer -- :welcome:

Maria - congrats on your awesome day yesterday!

Hi, Dave & Jen & Kristi and everyone else I missed! :grouphug:

Hey all... It's snowing here and it makes me want to cry. I am so tired of not being able to run outside. My race on Saturday will likely be in the rain or snow, which ever we get. There seems to be no end in sight....

So anyhooo, I ate HORRIBLE yesterday, but tracked it. I ate too many calories and fat. And when will the Easter candy go away!!!!!

Today is a new day. I am set for lunch and dinner is in the crockpot. I plan to run the indoor track while dd6 has gymnastics.

Cam - I am so glad you are back on track. I gained weight last month when I went on a retreat and it took me forever to get it back down. But dedication is the key word.

Maria - Yah on no dessert. Evening snacks really get me. A lot of times I eat them even when I'm not hungry. Now I try to tell myself that the snack will be there tomorrow, so if I am not hungry I try to not eat anything. I do it out of habit!

Crazy Jennifer - I am another Jen... Hmmm, something about those late 60's/70's that prompted half the world to be named Jennifer. Isn't it crazy! WELCOME!

Jen -- So glad you are tracking what you eat. That helps me so much. Wow, I WISH I'd remember to make time to do some crockpot cooking. I am so missing my soups and stews. Maybe I'll throw something in tonight for overnight or prep it for the morning.THanks for inspiring me!

post-lunch report:
I am proud to report that I did not have my favorite lunch at this restaurant, which has always been: 1 slice raisin nut bread w/butter; lobster bisque soup; open face cheesy jumbo lump crab gratin served with asparagus & french fries and 3 macaroons w/coffee. Instead I had beef barley soup, 4 grilled sea scallops w/dijonaise sauce (under the scallops, so mostly avoided) w/mixed field greens w/vinegarette dressing; coffee w/1 macaroon cookie. It was delicious and I don't feel like I am in a carb coma. LOL!!!! Avoiding the fresh baked breads basket was sooo hard! So was stopping at one cookie.

According to sparkpeople, my lunch was only 316 calories. I'll stay under my calorie count today just to compensate for any hidden calories in the lunch, but all in all, not bad.

Cam - WTG on eating sensibly at lunch. I rarely eat lunch out, but I did today. I had a tofu burrito at Moe's and just checked the calories - 667 and 21g fat. Ugh, I did not need that. At least I didn't eat the chips that came with it.

Jen - you seem pretty organized about dinner. I've thought about doing the crockpot thing, but I'm a vegetarian plus we're gone from the house for 13 hours a day. Most of the recipes take much less cooking time.

I'm thinking about bringing my dinner to work so I don't wind up starving and eating too much when I get home around 7:30-8pm. But then I'd be eating all 3 meals at work. Any advice?

I missed my run last night :rolleyes1 , but did 5K on the TM this morning.

Eating plan for today:
B: veg burger on lt bread with 1 slice FF cheese, 5 small veg pepperoni circles, mustard, and a little ketchup
S: NSA LF yogurt w/sunflower seeds
L: Moe's
S: LF mozzarella stick
D: FF cottage cheese w/ salsa and green olives
S: glass red wine

How's everyone else doing today?

CSR Jen :hippie:

Crazy Jen - Soups do well in a crockpot for longer periods. I am gone 10 hours and don't have too many problems. Chicken tends to dry out the most, so I try to use that with soups and not just as chicken. There is a recipes for runners thread that was last posted on last week. Look for it for some ideas.

Last night I did 45 minutes on the indoor track, my foot is kicking me today for that (no pun intended). So I am resting and being nice to it so I can maybe run my 5 mile race on Saturday.

Today... well, I am doing OK. I ate Subway and Sparkpeople said it wasn't too bad. So I am happy. Tonight is leftover night because we get home late. Great way to clean out the fridge!

Hi Everyone!

Drive-by post because I'm determined to get to bed early tonight. I did 3 miles on the TM this afternoon. We had serious rain and sleet. I'll make it outside one of these days...Jen, I feel your pain.

I'm embarrassed that my long run for Saturday will be the training run most of you guys do without a single thought, 3.5 miles. It's a new distance for me, though. I'm trying to get up to 5 miles by the end of May for a fun race in June. I'm getting nervous about being ready to do the Half in January, but I figure if I can do 5 in June, I should be on track to make 13 in January.

Tomorrow I'm on the exercise bike, then I hope to walk to a movie to burn some extra calories.

I have to get to this sparkpeople page for counting calories. Everyone is raving about it!

I am also happy to report that after extensive time on hold not once but twice today, I was able to convert our reservation to Free Dining for our August vacation. This is our first time on the DDP, so I'm excited to see what we will enjoy.

Have a great night!
Maria

Maria - we all were where you are! I remember thinking 3 miles was long, how the heck was I going to do 9 or 13? But every time you hit a new long distance for you, you will gain more & more confidence! You are definately going to be able to do a half in January - you have plenty of time!

Cam - awesome job at that lunch!

I am doing pretty good, back on the core bandwagon.

I talk to a lot of people on other sights who do lots of marathons and even Ultra marathons. Most of them are run/walkers. There is even a whole school of thought started by Jeff Galloway that even elite athletes should take a walk break every mile to increase their endurance and the distance they can cover.

Some people will have you believe that you are a loser as a runner if you can't run your whole race. Not true, when you square off against the distance you go from the start to the finish on your feet, that is the only requirement.

Heck folks Erica and I walk the whole distance we don't run a step. Speaking of anyone who wants to walk with us at the TOT, the Half or the Full or all of them we would be honored to have you join us.

Feel the magic and believe.
