Working on Weight Loss During Training—New Year New Us!

Hey, How is everyone today?

I am doing pretty well being back on weight watchers flex points plan. I am amazed at how many points some foods are and am also amazed at just how much food I can eat if I am not wasting points on junk.

Yesterdays' food volume was particularly impressive LOL!!!:
B: light multigrain english muffin w/1 slice FF cheese; coffee w/skim milk
S: apple slices
L: santa fe rice & beans over lettuce & tomatoes; broccoli w/FF melted cheese; watermelon chunks
D: LC panini (before gym); field greens w/extra lean ground beef, mushrooms & onions (at home after gym)
S: WW cheddar twists
Dessert: pineapple chunks; watermelon chunks; one cup leftover movie popcorn

Today's breakfast was delicious -- light multigrain english muffin with two hard-boiled egg whites (threw the yolk away), topped with melted fat free cheddar slice. It was kind of like an egg mcmuffin without the meat, though I could have put lean ham on it if I had thought to bring some from home.

Today's concern is that I am having lunch with a friend at a cafeteria type place. I think I am going to splurge and have roast beef, lettuce, tomato & mustard on whole wheat bread and a side-salad. But all the cooked menu options and today's soup will present big temptations. I have to remember to tell them NO CHIPS on my sandwich plate.

How is everyone else doing?

Hi Everyone,

Cam: Good job staying with the plan. I agree with you about being surprized about the pts values for some foods. One day I had a Boca burger on a light wheat roll for 2 pts. It was just so filling. For a real burger it would have been 8 or 9 pts.

We had a little celebration after work yesterday along with open bar and free appetizers. There's nothing like free. I tried to make smarter choices, but that's kind of hard when there are Buffalo Chicken Tenders with Blue Cheese dressing. Luckily I ran 5 miles yesterday morning so I did have a few extra pts for the day. Plus once I got home I didn't eat any thing more. I'm going to try to stay on the low side of my points today, but I seem to be extra hungry today. I was searching around for some good 0 pt recipes and I came across something called the Wendie Plan. Have any of you heard about it? Basically she abides by her pt total for the week, but varies the # of pts each day, one day being low pts followed by a high pt day all in an attempt to trick her metabolism. It sounds interesting, and I have to say on a few occasions I've been surprized to have lost wt for the week even though I ate a lot on one day. Has anyone tried it? I may try it out to see if it works.

Have a great day everyone.

Cindy

Cindy -- good job on reining yourself in at the celebration and not eating when you got home. PLUS earning APs helps, too.
I did try the Wendie plan and found I dropped a couple of pounds pretty quickly, but then it all evened out. I also had a hard time eating the exact number of points each day that she recommended. I think the theory behind the plan is great, but I am definitley a person that needs some flexibility.

Okay, lunch went really well -- turkey breast, lettuce, tomato & mustard on whole wheat w/diet soda. No chips. No fries. Nada. I'm nost starving yet, but I'll be sure to eat somethign before I leave for home so that I don't arrive ravenous. LOL!

I know, I have been MIA quite awhile.

I am still struggling to get back on track. I weighed in this week and am up about 13 lbs. since last Sept.!

I have been doing really good this week though. Next week they are closed on Weds. So it will be two weeks before I can weigh in. And I am determined to have a significant loss.

I just have to avoid the cake at Zack's birthday party tomorrow... ;)

I was on track yesterday and it felt great!!! For dinner I made homemade french bread pizza instead of the high fat frozen ones... DH and the kids loved them and they tasted so much fresher!!! I try to have some fun foods for the family every once in awhile.

Cam - You are so on target. I can't wait to see you in August!

Kristi - pixiedust: for the weight gain. I know how you feel. Now that Chad is working, maybe you need to make a daily plan to help you stick with it.

Cindy - I have no will power... I would have eaten the buffalo chicken!!! I did the Wendie Plan after my first child was born. I think that is when WW was 123 points. It did help me to lose, however I don't know if it was because I was concentrating on the plan to make it work, or that the actual plan is that much better than WW. You know what I mean? None the less, I do know that everyone loses differently and I do need a high day every once in awhile to trick my body.

Ok, gotta run to a meeting.

Hi Everyone,

I really had a rough weekend eating wise. I'm really beating myself up about it now. I'm in a foul mood and that's not helping any. I'm stressed and tired from life in general right now. I'm really afraid that I'm going to get in the mind set that this is too hard and I just don't have the energy to do it anymore. I actually even blew off a scheduled run today in favor of a nap. I know that was the worst thing I could have done since that really could have helped my mood a lot. I just couldn't muster the energy to get out the door. We're leaving on Tuesday night for a mini vacation at the beach so I'm hoping that helps relieve some of the stress I am feeling. Ugh. Sorry to be so whiney. I know there are people in this world who have much more to complain about than I do, but knowing that only makes me feel worse about feeling so down. I'm hoping I'll wake up tomorrow with a new burst of energy.

Have a good night everyone.
Cindy

OK, no more whining from me. After my sob story last week I managed to lose 1/2 a lb. I guess I should just allow myself to have some slip ups and move on. I've been away the last few days at the beach in RI. Somehow I managed to not gain any weight. Yea!! Must have been all the walking back and forth to the beach lugging 3 kids and all their stuff.

I'm 3 weeks away from my next beach vacation so I'm hoping to eat well and lose a few more lbs by then.

Cam: I was up to 10 days on the CCC and then I forgot to do them one night. Time to start a new streak now. Are you still doing them?

How is everyone else doing?

Best WISHes to everyone.
Cindy

Cindy -- so glad you got a break at the beach!
Yes, I am still doing my 100 crunches and 100 pushups every day. It and my half-marathon training are pretty much under control, but eating is completely out of control. Based on what I am seeing on sparkpeople, I can tell the mental component of this journey is completely missing. My head is just not in it consistently right now.
This weekend's food was completely out of control, starting with a bagel w/cream cheese Friday morning and going right through to junk food at 11:30 last night. I am fully aware when I am eating it that I shouldn't and that I will be besieged with regrets, but it just isn't enough yet to get me to stop. UGH!
Tonight I promise myself NOT to eat junk food. I will probably eat something before I go to the gym (a can of veggies, maybe) and then I will eat a frozen meal when I get home. Hopefully, that will help me get back on track. I may even try to cook some veggie burgers and boca burgers to have in the fridge for lunches the next couple of days.

Today's food:
B: coffee w/skim milk (.5)
L: soft pretzel; huge container of lettuce (0) with one chopped up boca burger w/ff cheese on it (2.5); cold broccoli with lemon and garlic (0); soft pretzel (6)

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to be good about counting points for the next 3 weeks. I leave for my next beach vacation in 17 days. I went bathing suit shopping yesterday and for the first time in a long time it wasn't incredibly depressing. I got a really cute suit at the LL Bean outlet. It fits fine now, but would definately flow a little nicer if I were a couple lbs thinner. I am keeping a picture of that suit in my mind as I make my food choices today. So far so good.

Cam: I'm sorry the mental aspect is so challenging right now. It's funny (or not so funny really) how sometimes it just clicks and other times it SO hard. You know that it's a really easy concept, just don't put unhealthy things in your mouth, but trying to get yourself to do that is just so not easy. I know with my running I do it because it's on my calendar that today is 4 miles, tomorrow rest, etc. But with the eating part it just doesn't work that way. First off it's every day you have to watch it, there are no rest days although I do find that planning a treat on the weekend is a good incentive for me to keep on plan during the week. Good luck finding something to get you back on track. Great job sticking with your crunches and push ups and the half marathon training.

Have a great day everyone.

Hey where is everyone?? Maria come visit us from Sparkpeople every once in a while. Kristi, Jen, Cam, Minnie, Dave????

I lost 2 more lbs this week!! I had no picnics or parties to go to this week which helps a lot. 11 more days till vacation so I'm very motivated to continue. If I lose 1/2 more lb I earn my next reward - a new running skirt. I vowed I wouldn't buy one until I could get a medium.

I hope everyone is doing well.

Hi sweet lady thanks for thinking about me. I have been under a stress cloud his month so my eating has been less than ideal. Can you say comfort food!
I take my State Boards tomorrow for my Optician licence so after that I'll be more back to normal.

I've been doing my walking and posting on the dailey but that has been about all I've allowed myself away from studying. I had the contact lenes exam last month, then started this month with the Senior Olympics, now this exam so my fun meter has been pegged.

I still love y'all and I'll be back on track here real soon. I haven't even stepped on the scale, I don't wanna know.

Dave,

Best of luck on your exams tomorrow. Sorry it's such a stressful time. Hope you'll be able to relax a little when it's over.

Cindy

Cindy - Thanks for asking :goodvibes

I've been doing awful with my eating and I've gained back everything I've lost. I've been under a lot of stress with a family situation and have allowed everything to snowball.

Right now though I'm in WDW :cool1: and life seems a lot brighter

Hoping to get back on the wagon to a healthy lifestyle once I return :wizard:

Hi Guys!

Sorry I have been MIA. We had company from June 30 - July 17, so I have been ridiculously busy. We took a short trip with some of our guests, and I had to work when we weren't away. It wasn't much of a vacation for us...Anyway, I am slowly getting back on track with both SparkPeople and the DIS. My boss is on vacation for 2 weeks starting Monday, so I'm going to be able to post much more LOL.

My eating is nothing to brag about, and neither is my exercise. I am also getting back into that. I'm doing crunches and push-ups every day, and as soon as dh restores the basement -- from all our guests! I'll be able to do my cardio again.

At this point, I am really looking forward to working hard at fitness, so I guess the break was a blessing...

Dave -- Good luck, I know you'll do great!

Minnie -- I hope you are having a great trip!

Cindy -- Congratulations on your loss! Pick a really cute skirt!

Cam -- It is hard when so much else is going on. You will find your focus!

Jen -- I hope you're doing well!

Kristi -- Just be patient with yourself, and try a new plan if your usual isn't giving you the results you want. You can do it!

Let's get losing!
Maria

Hi, everyone! Just wanted to pop in here to WISH all my buddies a good weekend and a great week. I will be away through Thursday and fear what the scale will say when I step on it Friday morning.
I am hoping to get lots of walking in and we have a LR scheduled for tomorrow morning. I also plan to run on the ship and not to indulge in too much food.
I'll miss you all and thinking of you will keep me pretty accountable!

Oh, and check out my siggie! I did it! 74 days of crunches and pushups in a row. Every day since I returned from the Minnie. Makes it a bit easier to wear that red dress I have planned for Palo's. :)

A quick "Hi!" I had planned on posting more today -- turns out my boss's vacation is more work for me. It figures LOL.

Anyway, hopefully tomorrow will be better. I did eat less last night, and I've almost got my 64 oz. of water in for the day, so I'm doing a few things right!

Hang in there, everybody!

Cam -- Congrats! And we hope you are having a fantastic time on your cruise! Enjoy that Palo meal for me!

Maria

Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone is doing well. No weight loss to report from me this week. I'm lucky not to have a gain. I was feeling a bit down last week and turned to my good friends chocolate and cookies. I was feeling very tired - turns out I was getting a cold. Now that I'm feeling better I'm trying to eat a little better this week. I am running a 10 mile race on Friday so I'm really trying to drink all my water and more. I'm trying to eat a little extra so I feel like I'm well fueled, but don't want to eat too much and feel weighed down. It really seems like a tricky balance.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning Cindy and WISH Team mates.

Yes it's a balance, along with about every thing else in exercise. To really do well you have to walk along the edge of the balances of to much or to little of training, eating, resting....

Dave:hippie:

Hi Everyone,

Since I'll be on vacation for the next week I am giving myself permission not to count WW pts. I'm hoping I eat reasonably and I'm sure I'll be getting plenty of exercise running after 3 kids on the beach.

Have a great week.
Cindy
