Working on Weight Loss During Training—New Year New Us!

I'm sorry. that just sounds gross! :lmao: And I am thinking that is not quite the carb load to fuel tomorrow's workout. May I suggest pasta (whole wheat is good) or some nice whole wheat couscous or some barley or . . . well, really, anything but chili with tuna!

Hi Guys!

Just a quick check in...I did my 4.75 long run today. Next weekend, it's 5 miles or bust!

I am the proud owner of a pink ipod shuffle. I have downloaded 42 songs (mostly from cds), and I have 3.1 hours of music. I guess all I need is a sunny day. I am truly out of excuses to get outside. Now if our rain would just stop...it's been raining since Thursday.

Cam & Dave -- you guys are inspiring me to get my rear in gear and eat right!

I did day #1 of the big loser workout yesterday. The goal is to do it 6 days a week for six weeks, and see the results. My plan is to do it every day I don't do my long run, that's 6. Surely with some conditioning, my runs and biking, and eating better, I will lose some weight. Just 15 pounds, and I would feel better and really fit in to my clothes. There is no reason that isn't doable.

Ok, I'm off to watch the sci fi I taped last night, and get to bed at a decent hour!

Maria

Guys I have my contact lenes exam in a few hours so wish me luck or at least wish me smart.:goodvibes

I'm off to the mall for a few miles of walking before meeting Erica for breakfast. Then I'll take her home and tuck her in for her days sleep before I head of to the City, Nashville, to test.

Maria I love your avatar. And yes 15 lbs is of course doable.

Dave:hippie:

Dave -- I'm sorry I didn't get on here early enough to wish you luck, but I hope your exam went well! :goodvibes pixiedust:

Maria -- great plan! Wow, 15 pounds! What I wouldn't give to lose 15 pounds! Actually, my body just won't give it up without major sacrifice and I think I'd rather live and eat normally for the long term than to do something drastic for the short term and worry about being able to maintain long-term. The exercise makes such a huge difference, though, even when it doesn't show up on the scale. I just can't believemy body could change this drastically without a corresponding change on the scale. So, keep up the exercise! Oh, and congrats on your shuffle! Isn't it fun? Enjoy!

Geez, almost forgot to report -- Dave -- I got to the gym last night and did an hour on the TM. Burned 491 calories according to the machine. :woohoo: And I didn't eat them all for dessert, either. ;)

Cam I don't test till 2 pm central time. I'm having a major high stress day. Erica isn't feeling well so I bedded her down. Have to see how she is after I return from nashville.

I'll report in later tonight.

Dave:)

Total drive by...

Yesterday was not so good. We were at an indoor water park radio station event. The food was free. Need I say more? Actually, I wasn't that bad, just not WW friendly. I did work off lots of calories swimming and going up stairs to the slides. Not enough to offset the fast food dinner though.

This morning has been great! Chad made me scrambled eggs and wheat toast in bed. (for screwing up last week on Mother's Day  ). I just did 30 mins. of toning with the new DVD. I am going to eat an orange now & then have a Core lunch.

We are heading out with my friend & her daughter today. Normally, we take them McD's for lunch. Today I suggested we go after lunch at home. This way we both are more apt to stay on Core (she does WW Core with me). It's not that you can't go to McD's and still stay on plan. It's that we both have no willpower in that situation! ;)

 I went shopping the other day and this time last year I was pudging out of a 16 and now I can get into a 12. The 12's are very form fitting, so I opted for a 14, which are loose, but dorable. I can always take them in. I am so happy to finally see results. I have 30 more to go, but at least I'm on my way!:cloud9: :woohoo:

Monte: Great job. It is always nice when you can "see" the difference. When clothes fit looser for me, that is icing on the cake. Keep up the good work!

You can't loose 30 more sizes! You would be a size neg sixteen.

Seriously wonderful news. Keep the fire burning.

Cam – It’s really great to see you back here!!!!! How did Sunday go with taking DD back to college?

Maria – I really like your go get it attitude! 15lbs is definitely a doable goal!

Dave – How did your test go?????? Wishing for the best!

Kristi – Way to stay clear of the fast food monster! Great job!!!

Monte – Nothing, but nothing feels better than fitting into smaller clothes. That is just awesome!!!!!!!

As for me I’m still on plan! The pants I have on today definitely feel looser even (turn you head Dave) during that TMI. I’ve lost 7 lbs total in 3wks which I feel good about. It seems like a sensible loss that I can keep off. I’m hoping to see a new ‘middle’ number on Friday weigh in as I’m very close.

I really need to pick it up on the exercising though. Need to get back into a routine that I can stick with. My darn back/hip still pains me even sitting here at my desk but I’ve got to find a way past it!

Sending everyone :wizard: for a cheat free week!!!! We can do this!!!!!!!!!

Guys I hadn't posted yet because Erica had a medical concern that turned out to just be an infection, (breast), so we are relieved. I didn't want to post anything negative. But she will just have to take some antibiotics for a while.

The darn test was brutal. I had to make to many educated guesses to feel comfortable about it. But I can retest in November and it seemed to trivial compared to my lady being ok.

Minnie must I turn my head. Beautiful ladies that have looser pants are nice to look at? There is so much ugly in the world and women help counter that.

I had a nice walk on the hills this morning. Even when life is throwing stones at you a nice walk on a beautiful sunny morning kinda helps put things in perspective.

Hi Guys!

I ran 4 miles on the TM before work this morning, and then I was uber-restrained at lunch. I met a friend who is visiting from CA at PFChang's, and I ate 2 steamed shrimp dumplings and steamed vegetables. That's all. No rice, no fortune cookie, just broccoli, asparagus, carrots and sugar snap peas. I can't quite believe I did that. Then we walked around for 2 hours....my body is spent. My knees and feet are begging for mercy.

Saturday I ran 4.75 miles. Yesterday I walked 6 and did the biggest loser dvd. After three days in a row of that much effort (alot for me), I have to have a rest day. I feel horribly guilty because I know I should keep moving, but I can barely walk now. I'm hoping to find some energy tomorrow to at least do the biggest loser dvd, even if I don't make it onto the exercise bike.

I am determined to make some progress, and have it not kill me...:rotfl:

Dave -- I'm so glad to hear Erica just needs a bit of medicine to be right as rain. It's so scary when you don't know. It is ok to post something negative if it concerns you. We are here to encourage you when you are down, as well!

Minnie -- It sounds like you are right on schedule and losing at a great rate!

Monte -- You are definitely on your way! Losing sizes is awesome! I think in some ways it helps more than losing lbs.

Kristi -- The water park sounds like a good workout, and I would count it! I hope tonight isn't too stressful for you. We could have had tv wars at our house tonight, if my little guy didn't go to bed at 7:30:rotfl 24, Dancing with the Stars, Heroes, and the Red Sox/Yankees. The vcrs are working overtime. I'm just glad I don't have to try to fit in the Power Rangers, too!

Cam -- My goal is 15 lbs., but I really don't know how long that will take. I'm only willing to eat better and workout more, I don't do supplements or anything like that which would make the weight go "whoosh". I would love it if it just fell off of me, and I think I should be able to take off the 5 lbs. I keep gaining and losing pretty easily if I stick with it for more than 3 days...but we'll see how the next 10 go.

Everyone have a fantastic evening!
Maria

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope everyone is having a great day.

Maria: Glad you like the iPod. I hope you enjoyed your rest day. You shouldn't feel guilty, you deserved it. The weather the rest of the week looks great so you can get out there and listen to you music.

Dave: Glad Erica's illness isn't serious. Hope the exam turned out well. Best WISHes to you during your training. Your race will be here soon.

Cam: I'm glad you're thinking of your eating the other night as a treat. You definately make healthy choice most of the time, so you do deserve a reward from time to time. So nice your DD came home for a visit. I had a question about tracking your food on SparkPeople. Is there a way to see what the nutritional content of your daily food is? I put my food in for the day and could find the carbs, protein, fat, but I was wondering am I getting enough calcium or Vitamin A. Is there a place to find that info? I have to start making some healthier choices. While I'm staying within my points I tend to go for the breads and crackers while ignoring the veggies.

Monte: Congrats on the new smaller size. It's the best feeling.

Minnie: Sorry about the back and hip pain. Congrats on your 7 lbs. It seems like a very sensible rate.

I am happy to report I lost another 1/2 lb this week. I'd like it to be more, but I guess I'll take it. The best part is it brings my total to 10.2 lbs since I started counting WW pts and 15 lbs since the beginning of this year. Still have 20 lbs to go, but I'm getting there. And since I hit the 10 lb mark, I get to treat myself to a new pair on non-running shoes. Yea!!!

Have a great day everyone.

Cindy

Monte and Minnie – congrats on the great progress!!

Dave – I am so relieved that Erica’s situation is being addressed with anti-biotics. Is she feeling better yet? I am sorry your exam was more difficult than you expected. I hope you are pleasantly surprised by the results. :goodvibes

Kristi – the waterpark sounds like a blast! I’ll bet you did more cross-training just chasing Zach around than many of us do in a given week. ;)

Cindy – I am not sure how to look at the daily totals for the nutrients, though that information does appear when you click on a food and click on its nutritional value. However, you can actually tell Sparkpeople to track it for you, and then I imagine it would show up on your nutrition page and in your "reports" section. To add a nutrient to track, sign in, then click on “nutrition” and then “change nutrition goals” then choose “add another nutrient to track” and there is a drop down menu for you to choose from 28 nutrients that you can track.

Okay, here is today's food plan:
B: coffee w/skim milk; 1 cup FF plain yogurt w/1 cup frozen strawberries (unsweetened)
S: 2 hard boiled eggs
L: garden salad w/1.5 oz grilled chicken & 1.5 oz london broil & 2 tsp olive oil; broccoli & cauliflower
S: apple
D: 6oz tilapia; 1 cup couscous; 2 cups "free" veggies
dessert:

I am so frustrated that the scale is up a pound today after I hit an all-time low yesterday morning. I only ate 1332 calories yesterday and burned almost 600 calories just on the treadmill and the bike, without counting the 100 pushups and 100 crunches. I had hoped for a significant loss at WW weigh in tonight, but I'll be lucky to be the same as last week. Not sure if I am more :sad1: or :confused3 or  . I have to keep telling myself that it is important to maintain the healthy lifestyle, even if I am not losing on the scale.

Cam - Don't count out the possibility that you are gaining muscle! With all the exercise you are doing it will help tone and yes add a bit to the scale. How do your clothes feel? A little looser this week? I know you are on the rightt path!!! Your menus look amazing, your workouts are intense, you are doing great :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Cindy - 10.2 is fabulous!!!!!!!!!! You have definitley earned those new shoes :cool1:

Dave - Blessings that your DW's scare was a treatable infection! Wishing her a quick recovery :wizard: I'm sorry to hear the test was so difficult. Sending truck loads of :wizard: that your results are what you are looking for!

Still on plan! This is the longest I've stuck with anything in a long, long time and I'm feeling good! Last night I made it out for a 2mile wog and I'm sore today but feel good that I atleast got out there :thumbsup2

:woohoo: Minnie! So happy for you and proud of you for being so on track!

Thanks for the words of encouragement. Funny you should mention muscle. I actually had a tinge of pain this morning when I sat with one leg under me and my ankle bone collided with a muscle in the back of my thigh! Let me tell you -- that was a surprise!!! Never knew there was a muscle back there (except when it ached); it was buried under layers and layers of fat! And ankle bones? How exciting!!! Oh, wait, now that I listen to myself, I know where the increased pounds are coming from -- my big head! :lmao:

Cam I saw Shrek 3 today. When the Ladies decided to kick butt, I thought about you and the WISH girls kicking the Boogy then making us rowdy guys behave. :guilty:

Muscle difination is exciting. When I first started trying to get my waist line back and I saw just a hint of a shadow of an ab muscle I thought, Yeah Baby!

Monte, I won't tell anyone that it was you that found Erica and I at the walking site. If they find out they will be throwing you to the Boogie.
