Just popping in, as this week-weekend is busy, busy, busy! Did some volunteering for Earth Day, and DOOD is gone this weekend some I'm taking advantage of things to do some home organizational stuff, extra work, washing the car, etc. Strange how much more time I have when he's not around....
I do hope DOOD's having a great time (on a field trip with students) and is feeling better; what I had/have (still lingering) is affecting him, too.
Beth: I need to get in the habit of trying new recipes again. That's the way to spark the tastebuds! Thanks! Have a great race tomorrow, and I hope you get to see this post today. Regardless, I'm sending good race vibes your way. I love that Tandy said your half would feel like a day off!
Loved the post about running as a necessity, an emotional grounding. It may not seem obvious to me always, but that is the case! I'm much more stressed and less capable of maintaining an emotional balance without it.
And thank you for the vegetarian day--I appreciate it. (I'd say that I'd return the favor if you want to do a seafood day. But I won't.

) I'm doing the squats faithfully, though, just to show you how grateful I am.
Great Scott, woman! You're putting in good miles, without tapering before your half!
Maria: You have just been rocking every part of this challenge, including the extra WOs at work, and the BL challenge, and well, everything. And I love the time you spent with your DS yesterday! Two big pats on the back. And I'm with Beth--I can hear the happiness in your voice! (And I think you are strong, healthy, and speedy--and getting more so all the time!)
Oh, and Maria....your comment didn't sound harsh at all. I like to vent with the best of them, but don't worry the complaints were registered to the proper department.

That I don't think anything will change, well that's another story....
Vicky: Your PT sounds just perfect!

And yes, what a compliment--you deserve it!
I liked my meal well enough, but it's not the same as take-out! I'll just have to make better choices. Within my block we have Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Dim Sum specialty, and pan-Asian. Within 2 miles there's probably another dozen restaurants. And *that's* one of the reasons we choose to live in the heart of Pittsburgh, near the university communities. More expensive, but it's a lifestyle!
As for the veggie dishes, I'm really not much of a cook. Mostly I stick with the staples red beans & rice, lentils, tofu, etc., in one-pot dishes. (The crock-pot equivalent.) Given my druthers, I eat salads and sandwiches. Or take-out.
Cindy: I love, loved your RR! The corrals sound perfect for a race and makes me envy those of you who can make qualifying times. I know you were disappointed by not running a "smart" race, but I look at all you did high fiving kids, taking Heartbreak Hill, finishing in such a good time. And I'm so very, very proud of you! And your Ragnar Relay sound challenging, but fun, and exactly the kind of thing I imagine you doing!
Tandy: How wonderful that your hard work is being noticed & complimented by others. That's a wonderful thing, and I can only imagine it makes you work harder!

Congratulations on yet another great week with the challenge, for trying new food, and for being a glutton for speed work punishment (much better than other kinds of gluttony)! I know running on the TM changes your stride, so perhaps that's what's going on with your knee?
Jackie: Oh, my dear.

I'm so, so sorry to hear you're in pain. That makes it harder to hear that others tell you that you shouldn't be running. I wish I had advice, but I don't. Good thing we have Beth!

So I'm just sending PD your way, and hoping the improvement/recovery continues. It does sound like the bike helps a bit. And for DH and his job situation, too. I'm very proud of you for trying new foods and discovering you like them, especially with the cereal.
WOO HOO! I just read your 5K PR post. SO proud of you! Better yet, you're not in pain. That's wonderful news!
Kim: Those are REALLY impressive measurements. Which just goes back to Vicky's post (and Maria's) that the scale isn't the only measurement of our health & accomplishments.
AFM: I ran today, not nearly as quickly as Jackie. But I feel better for having done so.
Pounds Lost: .5 pounds, for 131 total. I went up a bit when I started eating again, but have since balanced a bit.
Points Earned: 41
New food tried: Yeah, I made a recipe --not much of a cook. But I also tried a Trader Joe item: Roasted Seaweed Snack. I thought it would be kind of like a veggie chip, but low in calories. You know, for salt cravings. Nope, it's just dried seaweed & not my thing. But now I know.
