Working on Weight Loss and getting Lean!

I'm up, too. Weight was 139.1, so I'm now higher than I was when we started. Blaming it on TOM.

42 points for the week, if I add in the 1 point for trying a new food. I bought cottage cheese and added it to several of my breakfast items. I think I actually like the stuff! Who knew? :lmao: I also bought blackberries last night at the grocery store and mixed them in with yogurt and Kashi crunch cereal, and I liked that too. Full disclosure here - I only eat one cereal, and that's Frosted Flakes. I'm addicted to sugar. As a child I actually added sugar to my Frosted Flakes. While I don't do that anymore, I don't eat cereals that are good for me, so buying the Kashi cereal last night was a BIG step. (I've been buying granola to mix with fruit and yogurt, and I even bought AllBran Buds a couple of weeks since it has 13g of fiber, but to consider a box just as a cereal?)

Another added benefit of all these healthy habits - I usually have migraines almost every day the week of TOM, but I've made it all week headache-free. I am just beginning this morning to have the early signs that today will be the day, but to make it to Friday is a HUGE improvement, and I'm certain that the diet is the reason.

I didn't do any exercise last night other than the pushups - fell asleep sitting up on the couch talking to DH when I got home, so he suggested that I might want to take a nap instead of the walk. He went and ran, which made me a little sad, but the nap was really nice. Both legs are really sore today, which is a bummer, but I'm still taking my ibuprofen and crossing my fingers that I'll be able to some sort of run/walk tomorrow.

Jackie

It was a better week for me than I thought it would be.
143 this morning which is down another 2 pounds from last Friday.
I managed to get 44 points even with forgetting pushups the other day. I didn't get all my veggies in a few days, but this program is obviously working for me! :cool1:

Tandy

Well, everyone must be having a super busy Friday today.

I got an 8 mile run in and felt good. I decided to switch things up and will do a long walk and lifting tomorrow. The weather turned out to be beautiful today, so who could resist? Lots of garage saling as well. I spent about $100 bucks on baby stuff for my niece, but the stuff was just so cute! Plus, my brother needed a jogging stroller. I bought him 2 and will let him pick which best suits his needs. They were cheap, so I'll just sell the other on Craigslist.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Beth, good luck on Sunday. You will kick booty, I'm sure! :thumbsup2

Good Morning, Leanies!

I had a splendid day with ds yesterday -- awesome in so many ways! But first my 8M -- which I completed by 8:30 am! I felt pretty good, but I'm definitely staying at 8 for next week. I discovered I'm not as fond of the orange clif bloks, I'm going with my standard black cherry next week. I told ds we could do anything he wanted yesterday afternoon, and he wanted to start with lunch at Friendly's. I had a grilled chicken, apple, walnut and bleu cheese salad, and I only ate half. Then for the hard part (Friendly's is known for their ice cream). They have a new item -- a deep chocolate lava cake filled with caramel, surrounded by three scoops of nuts over caramel ice cream (vanilla ice cream, with streaks of caramel, nuts, and tiny caramel cups enrobed in chocolate) topped with whipped cream, almond slivers, and a cherry. Sounds good, doesn't it? It was calling my name, but I resisted and had a scoop of watermelon sherbet, which tasted delicious!

Then we went to Jo-Ann fabrics to pick up cotton batting (who knew that was so hard to find? Plenty of polyester, though) for ds's science experiment. Then back home to drop off the car and pick up a coupon and ds's gift card to Borders. We took the T (subway) downtown, and ds bought Kingdom Keepers III. He's been waiting for it, he really enjoys the books and thinks their very accurate in their Disney representations. We walked around downtown a little and went to Macy's. I bought a scarf to complete an outfit I recently bought, and two pairs of shorts for ds.

We took the T home, and took a little break (ok, he went off to his room and I watched General Hospital, I never get to do that!). Then we watched two episodes of Star Trek: TNG (no popcorn::! Aren't you proud of me?!). We had pizza for dinner, and then we watched a couple of premieres on Cartoon Network. I was so ready for sleep by 9:30, and fully asleep in about 5 minutes. I meant to sleep in today, and I guess I did, since I didn't get up until 7:30 -- that's 10 hours! I had a bowl of Special K (It's the weekend, so I'm having cereal for something different) and a cup of hot tea, then I did a half hour of incline walking, a bit higher incline than usual. I went to the library to exchange books, and here I am!

Tandy -- omg, I love baby stuff! I think it's because I only had one, now I think everything I see is so cute! But the next baby I buy for will be one my nieces have (20 & 18, and not likely anytime soon), I'm looking forward to seeing all the teeny tiny clothes again, and all the advances they will have made by then. The Diaper Genie was cutting edge when I had ds! :rotfl:

Jackie -- Naps are highly underrated. I think we should all nap, every day...I wish I could! :cloud9: I hope the ibuprofren is working and you are feeling better today

Kim -- Awesome measurements, you are doing great! :thumbsup2

Cindy -- You ran a marathon on Monday :worship: , I really don't think I'd worry much about a slight gain for the week! :goodvibes I suspect it will all works itself out by the next weigh in.

Beth -- We'd be sunk without the crock pot! It's where we do meatballs, stew, soup...it would be easier if I was a SAHM in some ways, harder in others. I honestly think, based on the way I ate this week, I'm better off going to work for my fitness. It forces me to workout early (can't say I'll just get to it later and it never happens), and limits me to eating what I bring with me during the day, no trips to the pantry! I also genuinely enjoy my career and the mental stimulation. The house could be tidier, and I've pretty much stopped doing craft projects, but I really enjoy spending my free time getting in workouts. I am definitely happier! :yay:

Vicky -- You are probably posting momentarily, I'll catch you on my next pass!

Jeanne and Debra -- Hope the weekend is treating you Grr-Reat! (oh, wait, that's Jackie! :rotfl2: My Special K is cinnamon with pecans, I don't like really healthy cereal, either!

Maria :upsidedow

I DID IT!!!!!

I RAN THE ENTIRE 5K! AND I PR'D! And it didn't hurt!

I woke up this morning with a migraine, and almost didn't even go. But I decided to get dressed and go with DH and see how I felt after a warmup jog. The jog hurt, but I lined up toward the back hoping that maybe the warmup would be enough. The starting horn went off, and I started running. Nothing hurt. I kept running (nice downhill start - tried to be reasonable, thinking of Cindy!). Finished the first mile in 10:03. Kept running, still no pain. Finished the second mile in 9:43. At that point, all I kept thinking was "If you can run the third mile, you can mark this goal off the list." Finished the third mile in 9:42! Crossed the finish line in 30:51, which is 1:45 faster than my previous PR. And my legs STILL don't hurt.

By the way, I don't care what I eat today, so I don't think I'll be getting any points, other than the exercise ones! I'm so happy about the race that nothing else matters. :rotfl:

Maria - Yikes! Kingdom Keepers III is out already? Guess I'd better get to the bookstore. Or maybe DD has already been. She's been dying for it to go on sale. (And truth be told, I'll be right in line behind her to read it!) Great job resisting the dessert at Friendly's. They had miniature candy bars at the race this morning - I had one little Snicker's bar, and it was just enough. I hadn't had any chocolate since the challenge began, so it was really, really good, but a full size candy bar would have been way too much.

Tandy - Congrats on the weight loss. Glad to see someone is still losing! Although I know the program is working for me too; this was just a bad week.

Cindy
- Ditto what Maria said. You get extra credit for this week since you ran a marathon! And double points since it was Boston!

DH has a second interview on Tuesday. Keep those fingers crossed - it must be working!

Jackie

Way to go, Jackie![/COLOR]

You did it! Congratulations! party: I am so proud of you! You are the Champion! :woohoo:

Maria :upsidedow

Just popping in, as this week-weekend is busy, busy, busy! Did some volunteering for Earth Day, and DOOD is gone this weekend some I'm taking advantage of things to do some home organizational stuff, extra work, washing the car, etc. Strange how much more time I have when he's not around.... :rotfl2:

I do hope DOOD's having a great time (on a field trip with students) and is feeling better; what I had/have (still lingering) is affecting him, too.

Beth: I need to get in the habit of trying new recipes again. That's the way to spark the tastebuds! Thanks! Have a great race tomorrow, and I hope you get to see this post today. Regardless, I'm sending good race vibes your way. I love that Tandy said your half would feel like a day off! :rotfl:

Loved the post about running as a necessity, an emotional grounding. It may not seem obvious to me always, but that is the case! I'm much more stressed and less capable of maintaining an emotional balance without it.

And thank you for the vegetarian day--I appreciate it. (I'd say that I'd return the favor if you want to do a seafood day. But I won't. :rotfl2:) I'm doing the squats faithfully, though, just to show you how grateful I am.

Great Scott, woman! You're putting in good miles, without tapering before your half! :worship:

Maria: You have just been rocking every part of this challenge, including the extra WOs at work, and the BL challenge, and well, everything. And I love the time you spent with your DS yesterday! Two big pats on the back. And I'm with Beth--I can hear the happiness in your voice! (And I think you are strong, healthy, and speedy--and getting more so all the time!)

Oh, and Maria....your comment didn't sound harsh at all. I like to vent with the best of them, but don't worry – the complaints were registered to the proper department. ;) That I don't think anything will change, well that's another story....:rolleyes1

Vicky: Your PT sounds just perfect! :cloud9: And yes, what a compliment--you deserve it!

I liked my meal well enough, but it's not the same as take-out! I'll just have to make better choices. Within my block we have Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Dim Sum specialty, and pan-Asian. Within 2 miles there's probably another dozen restaurants. And *that's* one of the reasons we choose to live in the heart of Pittsburgh, near the university communities. More expensive, but it's a lifestyle!

As for the veggie dishes, I'm really not much of a cook. Mostly I stick with the staples – red beans & rice, lentils, tofu, etc., in one-pot dishes. (The crock-pot equivalent.) Given my druthers, I eat salads and sandwiches. Or take-out. :lmao:

Cindy: I love, loved your RR! The corrals sound perfect for a race and makes me envy those of you who can make qualifying times. I know you were disappointed by not running a "smart" race, but I look at all you did – high fiving kids, taking Heartbreak Hill, finishing in such a good time. And I'm so very, very proud of you! And your Ragnar Relay sound challenging, but fun, and exactly the kind of thing I imagine you doing! :cloud9:

Tandy: How wonderful that your hard work is being noticed & complimented by others. That's a wonderful thing, and I can only imagine it makes you work harder! :thumbsup2 Congratulations on yet another great week with the challenge, for trying new food, and for being a glutton for speed work punishment (much better than other kinds of gluttony)! I know running on the TM changes your stride, so perhaps that's what's going on with your knee?

Jackie: Oh, my dear. I'm so, so sorry to hear you're in pain. That makes it harder to hear that others tell you that you shouldn't be running. I wish I had advice, but I don't. Good thing we have Beth! :goodvibes So I'm just sending PD your way, and hoping the improvement/recovery continues. It does sound like the bike helps a bit. And for DH and his job situation, too. I'm very proud of you for trying new foods and discovering you like them, especially with the cereal.

WOO HOO! I just read your 5K PR post. SO proud of you! Better yet, you're not in pain. That's wonderful news! :woohoo:

Kim: Those are REALLY impressive measurements. Which just goes back to Vicky's post (and Maria's) that the scale isn't the only measurement of our health & accomplishments.

AFM: I ran today, not nearly as quickly as Jackie. But I feel better for having done so.

Pounds Lost: .5 pounds, for 131 total. I went up a bit when I started eating again, but have since balanced a bit.
Points Earned: 41
New food tried: Yeah, I made a recipe --not much of a cook. But I also tried a Trader Joe item: Roasted Seaweed Snack. I thought it would be kind of like a veggie chip, but low in calories. You know, for salt cravings. Nope, it's just dried seaweed & not my thing. But now I know.

Way to Go Jackie!!! I knew you could do it, and it's even better to be pain free! I am so proud of you!

Debra: I am glad to hear the new recipe talk! There is nothing better than a new recipe! I am trying to bring some new ideas to this BL challenge. The desire to bring some things to our everyday lives that will help us in the long run. I am glad that so many of the Lean Ladies are embracing the challenge.

Maria: I am glad you had a nice day with ds. We don't get many opportunities to spend quality times with our dear boys as this age. I love that you could withstand the ice cream at Friendly's and get an adequate subsitute with the sorbet.

AFM: I am running the 1/2 marathon tomorrow, but am just running for fun. Since my marathon is around the corner, I've decided not to push for any kind of fast time.

Eating has not been great, but I've always loosen before a race. I did maintain from last week, so that's the accomplishment I guess.

I will total the weeks challenge tomorrow when I get home. Remember....week 2 is always a down week with weight loss because the first week is usually more success. I don't want anyone to get unmotivated by a slow week 2!

Beth

Good Morning Leaners.

Beth: Lots of luck today. Run well. Good job maintaining this week, especially before a race.

Debra: Glad you are beginning to feel a little better. Good job holding on to some of that weight loss. You really do have a lot of choices for take out around you.

Jackie: Congrats on the PR and meeting yet another goal. Fantastic!! So any ideas why your legs weren't hurting? Do you think the prerace warm up was responsible? Maybe you can incorporate that into your training runs.

Maria: What a fantastic day with DS. I'm sure he loved it too. And fantastic restraint at Friendly's.

Tandy: Great job on the weight loss this week. Sorry you are having some knee problems on the TM. I would think the TM would be more gentle on your joints. At least it didn't hurt on your outside run.

Kim: Way to go on your smaller measurements.

I had a pretty good day eating yesterday. It's nice to get at least one day in like that. I'm realizing that if I want to stay within my WW pts all the time I need to start earning activity pts every day. Time to start getting back to the Jillian Michael's DVDs again. I have a few outside yard projects on my list. That should burn some calories. Now I just need the energy to do some of this.

I forgot to mention my new food from last week was pasta made from Kamut and Quinoa. It had a great texture, much more like white pasta than whole wheat pasta. The quinoa flavor was pretty strong, but with a spicy tomato sauce it would probably be OK. It has a little more fiber and protein than wheat pasta, but at $4 for 12 oz box, it won't be a regular in my pantry.

Have a great day everyone.
Cindy

Good Afternoon, Lean Ones!

I realized when I read my post I neglected to add my weight and points -- this week I was at 190.2, with 47 points. I don't know why I always seem to slow down just as I get close to a new "10", but I am going to persevere. I don't think I did myself any favors on the weight loss front moving up my 8M, but that's ok, it's good to do things a little differently for a week so I don't get into a rut. :cool1:

I ran 6M this morning, which was a little harder than I thought. I'm resting the rest of the day. DH is marinating chicken to grill for dinner, and he's going to make a bag a steamed veggies on grill. I guess that means they are grilled veggies, but you get the concept!

Cindy -- Tje pasta sounds good, but a little pricey! I do try to get some activity points every day. I believe you are supposed to aim for 28 each week as your eventual goal, so even if it's incline walking or yoga, I try to work it all in. At your level of training, I can see where it's hard. What a tough balance, to eat just enough and also expend such a precise amount of calories...

Beth -- I predict you are really enjoying your race, as you should! Running for fun is something we should all do from time to time :lovestruc

Debra -- I will be honest, roasted seaweed snack does not sound like anything I want any part of :sad2: I'm glad you were brave enough to try it, now I know it will never pass my lips! :rotfl:

Jackie -- Totally crossing my fingers for dh, that sounds extremely promising! pixiedust:

We have a Celtics playoff game momentarily, so I'd better get moving!

Maria :upsidedow

Hi lean ladies! Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Just a quick fly-by for me today. I'm down 1.5 lbs and I've got myself down for 38 points. I did cheat a bit this weekend... I ended up going to a new tapas style restaurant and one of the dishes our table ordered was a brisket poutine. I snuck a few fries and while they were yummy. I don't really miss them as much as I thought. For dessert, I split a cheese plate with DF. A little bit different but really yummy and not loaded with sugar.

Jackie - Congrats on your 5K! You ran continiously and got a PR to boot! You're awesome!!

I'll catch up with everyone in a little bit. :wave2:

Hello everyone,

Sorry I'm late posting.....no time to read anything, so forgive me. The bride and gromm are in town so this has been another whirlwind weekend. It's the last time they will be here before the big event. So much to do, so little time. Today they will go to the county clerk and get their marriage license, so it's getting very real. We had a wonderful small local shower for her yesterday hosted by one of my close friends. Two doors down another friend hosted a social just for the husbands. When the shower was over both groups met for an impromptu Greek dance lesson and Jello shots (to reduce our inhibitions!) It was a ton of fun. Unfortunately, I was unable to dance because I am presently injured. I somehow twisted something in my knee and for several days have been unable to put any weight on it at all. I had a similar experience about 6 years ago and after a plethora of tests, they basically prescribed nothing more than the RICE method. As a result, my training and workouts have been sidetracked for a while. The good news is I AM getting better and if I just take it very easy, I should be fine in a few more days. So my BL points have suffered a bit, but at this point I need to focus on the greater goal of being totally healthy at the wedding. I am sure you can understand.

Anyway here goes: My weight on Friday was 197.1, which is only 0.2 of a drop, but it was actually lower than that earlier. It might be due to my inactivity the last few days and/or swelling. I probably won't reach my goal, but as long as I am traveling in the right direction and staying in One-derland, I'm OK with it. I only had 39 points this week. I know I missed alot, but I am doing the best I can right now and thank the challenge for keeping me somewhat on track.

That's it for now......I'll try to catch up tomorrow when everyone is gone.

Good morning ladies. I have been MIA because my mom is in town visiting and we've been nonstop. Going to run today so that will be really nice.

Jeanne: I'm so sorry to hear about your knee. Ouch! But, all the wedding stuff sounds like so much fun! And, at least you had a loss. With an injury like that, it's good to just not gain!

Vicky: Great job on the weight loss and your dinner sounded yummy!

Maria: Your day with your son sounded wonderful. I really enjoy my sons company. Maybe it's the only child thing, but we have so much fun together! How was that yummy sounding dinner last night? Great job on your points. You beat me!

Cindy: The new pasta sounds interesting. I had a fear for a few weeks that my son had Celiac disease and we tried all kinds of new things during that time. But, I like wheat pasta the best. I've heard really good things about the Jillian Michaels DVDs. Of course, she's no Bob, so I don't think I would like them!;)

Beth: Well? How was it? How are you doing?

Debra: Hey, at least you had a loss. After being sick and losing that much weight the week before, anything is great! Good job on the new food. I love things like that. But then, I just love salt. I know I shouldn't, but just can't help it. Did you get a lot done on your loner weekend?

Jackie: CONGRATULATIONS!!!! WOO HOO!!!! A PR and running the whole thing? Wow!
And, it's even more exciting that your hubby has a 2nd interview!!!!!
I really hope he gets this job.

AFM: Eating has been really great this weekend. I'm so busy that I don't have time to overeat. But, I didn't exercise at all on Sat or Sun. So, no points for that! :sad1:My mom and I are going shopping today and getting pedicures. Fun fun! I'm going to run first though. She understands that this is really important to me, which is great. I think I'll give up lifting this week though. It's just too much time.

I hope everyone has a fantastic day. I hope I can check in a little this week!
Tandy

Jeanne and Debra -- Hope the weekend is treating you Grr-Reat! (oh, wait, that's Jackie! :rotfl2:

I hadn't had a chance to comment on this yet... not only are Frosted Flakes my favorite, but I had a childhood (well, maybe not just childhood) obsession with Tony the Tiger. I had a long line of stuffed tigers named Tony, (one who still lives on my bed that I've had since I was 2), a cereal bowl, numerous spoons, a cookie jar, a plastic cup - basically, if Kellogg's marketed it, my parents bought it for me. When DD was about 18 months, Tony came to town and I took her to see him. She, of course, was terrified, and we have this pitiful picture of me holding her in one arm fully extended and hugging Tony with my other arm. So yeah, we're Grr-Reat! :thumbsup2

Followed up the 5K with a LR on Sunday with DH. Cut the usual 10 mile route down to 8, but we did it at an average 11:22 pace. That's only 10 seconds faster than my half marathon PR. I'm pretty sure your LR's aren't supposed to be done at race pace, but DH is determined that I'm going to get accustomed to running faster! And Sunday was really, really humid - first time all year we've run in humidity. The calf didn't hurt at all, but I pulled a muscle (maybe piriformis issue?) going up a hill and struggled with that for a while. Finally told him about mile 7 to go on and I'd switch to R2/W1 from R3/W1, but I actually only did :30 walk breaks and then ran the last half mile continuously so that my last mile was my fastest! Note to all: I AM TAKING TODAY OFF!

Beth - Can't wait to hear how yesterday went. Thought about you all day.

Tandy - Good for you for eating well this weekend. I was horrible. Really, really horrible. Our run ended at Panera yesterday, and I went in and ordered a cinnamon roll and a latte. Nothing like negating the calories burned immediately.

Jeanne - Sorry to hear about the knee. Take it easy. The wedding is the priority now. What's the date for the first one? I know, I had the announcement, but I gave it away! Great job keeping the weight steady!

Cindy
- I don't know if the warmup made the difference or not. We walked around a lot before the race too, and that may have helped as much as anything. Since long runs don't bother me, it does seem that I need a different sort of warmup for shorter weekday runs.

Debra - Our newspaper yesterday published a vegan recipe, so I figure I may as well go all the way this week. I expect a bit of kicking and screaming from DH, but he can fix his own stuff if he's not happy! It was particularly appealing since the premise was that all the Hollywood types are going vegan, but they have people to cook for them, but for anyone who wants to be vegan and doesn't have time, this is a recipe prepared with all grocery-store items. Has my name all over it!

Must get back to work.

Jackie

Morning ladies! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Tandy - Congrats on the 2lb loss!! Sounds like you're having a fantastic time with your mom! Gave myself a pedi this weekend and remembered why it's so nice having one done. I think it's nice that your mom understands your love of running. You can never have too many cheerleaders! Have you tried getting her to run with you?

Jeanne - Congrats on your loss! pixiedust: for your knee! Hope it heals soon. Sounds like quite the weekend you had there! I'm glad you got dance lessons though. I went to my cousin's wedding a couple of years ago - his bride was Greek and I remember thinking there were about 3-4 different dances done that day. And I have two left feet and no balance so I had more fun watching

Maria - WTG on all the miles you've been getting in lately! I also find that my losses tend to slow down the closer I get to a big number or my goal. Not sure why that is ... How did the steamed/grilled veggies turn out? Sounds like your Friday with DS was a lot of fun! I think you mentioned it before but how old is he?

Beth - How did your 1/2 marathon go? Any pictures of the bling? :) I forgot to put in my last post that my points were 38 (weight loss of 1.5 lbs).

Debra - Congrats on the loss!! DF made a veggie curry with brown rice yesterday and I thought you and the restaurants you mentioned. Love Dim Sum and always end up waaay too much! :) I've tried the dried seaweed before too and I don't love it either...

Jackie - I laughed when I read about adding sugar to Frosted Flakes! The things we do as kids :) I use to eat butter right out of the fridge - go figure. Hope you're feeling better today  TOM is no fun :(

Cindy - That's some expensive pasta! Sounds yummy but I don't think I'd make it a regular on my shopping list either. Sorry to hear about the gain - but you ran Boston!! Are you tired of everyone saying that  I get so excited because I think it's such a huge accomplishment! But I have to agree with Maria that it's a tough balancing high mileage with the right amount of food.

AFM - I had a pretty good weekend! Did an all over colour on my hair. Something I haven't done in years... At first I was thinking of just getting a deeper black but I asked the colorist for something different and she did a slightly lighter colour on the top and front and the dark colour in the back and bottom. It's not as crazy as it sounds :)

DF and I also went to see a movie - Kick A**. I hadn't seen a trailer for it beforehand so I thought it was more of a light hearted comedy like Mystery Men. It had its funny moments but was also pretty violent. I was also a little disappointed that they didn't make better use of Mark Strong (lead villan). He's a great actor but didn't seem like they gave him much to work with. And he also looks better with hair ;)

And hopefully everyone gets nice weather starting this week ... I bought a jacket yesterday. So I fully expect not to be able to wear it until ... oh September  Funny thing though - the first jacket I tried on fit really well in the waist and the chest, the shoulders fit but looked too small. So I had to go one size up where the shoulders looked right and have them tailor the jacket to a smaller size. Go figure! Reminded me of What Not to Wear :)

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Way to go Maria!

Sorry Lead Ladies that I didn't get on yesterday!

AFM: The 1/2 marathon yesterday was held in rain and freezing cold temps!!!! I really had NO interest in running....but my friend Heidi had other plans!

I have to say I have had bad news about my friend Heidi that I haven't posted....she was pregnant (about 14-15 weeks) and lost the baby 2 weeks ago. It's been such a shock for them....I really didn't think would be running. She was determined to do it though, but she hadn't run for awhile and still had some issues with losing the baby.....

I ran with her, to try to keep her spirits up, and to get her to the finish line (she is usually very speedy, and slows WAY down to run with me) I felt like it was my job to get her to the finish line!!! We were doing well most of the race, but she did have to stop a couple of times for the Port-a-John's. Stopping the running motion in the very cold rain was hard on both of us with tightened muscles and cold hands! But the stops were necessary, so we perservered! We ended up running 2:35 (or something like that), and happy with that. She nows knows how some of us feel, when we are 'racing' just to finish! It's the first time she actually felt that way, and very proud to finish. I, too, am very proud of her. I don't think I could have done it.

I have to say though.....some dude was yelling at her in the Port-A-Potty that she was taking too long......I almost decked him. That comment hurt her pretty badly, and we walked for awhile to get it out of her system. I could have really hurt him for making her cry! :sad2::headache:

The bling is nice, though I won't be able to post a picture.....I have NO skill with computers!

It's nice to hear some of you are taking the Vegetarian day challenge!!! Let us all know how it works out! Jackie.....good luck with DH!

Cindy: Nice to get back on track with everything!!!!

Tandy: Very nice week 2 results!!! Great job!

Debra: Hope that the tummy troubles are way behind you!!! When does DOOD come home?

Maria: Back to work today? I am glad you had some nice days off!

Good Afternoon, Luscious Leanies!

I got up and ran 6M this morning -- it was kind of disheartening when my scale showed a 2 oz. loss, particularly since it was from yesterday when I was up 2 lbs...anyway, hopefully it will all work it's way out by the end of the week, it usually does...

Beth -- So sorry the Half was in not so sunny conditions, and your poor friend :grouphug:. I am so glad she had you there beside her! Today is my vegetarian day. Hummus and veggies for lunch, and butternut squash ravioli for dinner. Those are the only meals when I might eat meat, I stick to a muffin, fruit and yogurt for breakfast, and my snacks wouldn't know protein if it plopped on their heads :rotfl2: I am pleased to say that after my 6M, I did my squats, push-ups and crunches. I may end up with a muscle I can find after this Challenge :lmao: Hey, you had 47 points too! You are also a Points Winner! :yay:

Vicky -- My ds turned 12 in January. He's at that stage where he wants to be a grown-up, but also still wants to be a kid. He gets upset if I say something he deems uncool in public, but then he turns around and lays his head on my shoulder :confused3 The grilled veggies were good. DH bought some foil pans to cook on the grill with, and I think we'll be cooking outside as much as possible this summer. I really want to use our yard whenever we can. :thumbsup2 I miss What Not to Wear! I was sad when the season ended. Whenever we go run errands on Saturday my ds will note my "Mom on the Go" attire. I admit, I have been trying to dress a little better for the trips around town since watching the show.

Jackie -- You have earned today off! ::yes:: I had no idea you were such a Frosted Flakes fan! I sympathize with the not so good eating after a workout. I was there Saturday, trust me. On the bright side, dh bought Twizzler bites for ds, and I really don't like them, so hopefully I'll actually ignore them. :goodvibes

Tandy -- I am an only child, too, so I think I really get ds. We enjoy being together, but we both need some time alone to regroup. It actually works out great! :thumbsup2 Please spend your time enjoying life with your mom! I lost my mom in 2002, and my advice is to treasure every moment! :lovestruc

Jeanne -- I'm sorry about your injury, but what a fun weekend! I think you need to be as healthy as possible at the wedding because I want a full account of all the excitement! What a great summer you have ahead of you! :dance3:

Debra -- My dh worked on a "Boston Shines" event on Saturday, he actually ended up picking up trash on a street a block from where I work! Our yard is looking scary, we're having our own "Our House Shines" event next weekend to try to take back control -- but we won't have our own t-shirts! :rotfl:

Kim -- Did your daughter have the Prom yet? My senior prom was on this date, back in the Stone Age -- or I guess I could call it the "Miami Vice" age :lmao:

Cindy -- One week ago today -- You ran Boston!!! :cheer2:

Maria :upsidedow

Good morning ladies.

Yesterday was a good day. I ran a 5K (distance, not a race) and took my mom to zumba. Quite amusing really. She's incredibly out of shape and very uncoordinated, but she gave it a good try and never sat down! Of course, wine had to be involved to persuade her, but she ended up having fun.:lmao:

Maria: Good job on your 6! You are being really consistent and working hard every day. :thumbsup2 My son is 10. He's still got his little boy moments as well. But, the attitude this year is huge. He has also discovered girls and is interested in growing his hair out so he can look cool. He loves being an only child. It's made him much more mature. Most of our friends are older than us and their kids are grown, so he tends to be surrounded by adults a lot. It never bothers him.
I'm sorry to hear about your mom. I don't take any moments with mine for granted. I only get to see her 2 times a year, and wish it could be a lot more.

Beth: I'm so sorry for your friends loss. I am amazed she wanted to run the race. That guy was a total jerk at the portapotties. It sounds like you both got what you needed out of the race, so congratulations. But, the conditions sound horrible! Yuck!

Vicky: Oh, a fun hair day! I miss those. It doesn't sound crazy at all to get the 2 colors. My mom and I had a lot of fun with our manis and pedis. I don't get manicures because I chew my nails and my cuticles, so what's the point. My mom has never had one and loved it, but refused when I tried to talk her into a pedicure. Apparently, her feet are bad.

Jackie: Did you actually take the day off? I myself am very good at days off! :lmao: I am going to Panera for lunch, but thanks for the warning about the cinnamon rolls! I will try to find something healthy, but who knows!:)Sorry you pulled a muscle. Ouch. But, you perserveered, as usual.

AFM: I am excited for the vegetarian day. I was vegan for 5 years, but it's been 10 years of meat for me now. Mom's taking me to Panera for a late birthday lunch (I know they have lots of veggie options). She's not an active person, but for my bday, she's getting what I want for lunch, taking it to the park for a picnic, and then, walking 5 miles on the trails with me. She's so sweet! It may take us all day, but she's bound and determined to do this.

My son's end of the school year schedule is crazy right now. We've been bogged down with studying and huge projects. He has 2 tests and the project due this Thursday. Plus they're doing state assessments all this week. I cannot wait for the weekend!

I hope everyone has a fantastic day!
