Working on Weight Loss and getting Lean!

Good morning Lean Ladies!

Maria - You are a busy, busy person. I would get lost in that kind of schedule, although; there was a time... - Rest days are good! Congrats on the new hoisery! There is just something special about moving down in hoisery sizes. I mean, who knew, that Queen would become a size and a dispicable one at that!!! I bet you are too young to remember the TV show, "Queen for a day". -- Crawling with Tweens really does sound like an infestation! :rotfl:

Beth - GREAT JOB on that 3 pounds!! Best pizza choice would be a very thin crust with a ton of veggies! Does it make you wander if it's all in your head? I often think that about me! You know like get your mind to KNOW that weight loss WILL happen and then ...it does! -- I think that you have it right. It is more difficult to learn to eat to maintain than it is to eat for loss. It is one of my greatest challenges!

Jackie - Good job on getting that run in! Sometimes our hardest battles take place between our ears. (See reference above to weight loss and it's all in our heads!) I hear shin splints are bad. Hope they get better soon!

Manda - Those meetings are so hard on a person. I used to dread them and hate them and wish I could go home to avoid them and ... So, I just don't take meetings any more. Which is why I didn't get to meet most of you at WDW...I was hiding!

Cindy - If things don't improve with your tummy you may have to insist on tests or find get a second opinion. This isn't good!

Debra - :rotfl:Texas is a big, big state. I can be in: Walsenburg, CO; Albuquerque, NM: somewhere in Nebraska; or Little Rock, AR in about the same amount of time I can get to Dallas! Weird, huh? But long drives don't bother me. I rather enjoy them, in fact. And it's a good thing, too! I have to drive about 45 miles to walk into a Walmart! :lmao: No nude workouts here, either! But with some advance planning, I could make something work in 2011

Vicky - The trick with needles...don't look! Turn your head and keep it turned. Start humming a song that you love to yourself as soon as the band goes on your arm! If you get a flebotomist who isn't good, ask for a new one BEFORE you pass out! :rotfl2: -- I had a chiropractor and a physician who once told me (separate times of course) that exercise wasn't good for you. I fired them!! There are doctors who understand exercise phisiology and the athlete.

AFM - The scale is still trending downwards. :cheer2: That hasn't happened in 2 years, minimum! I am pleased. It's sleeting and snowing and blowing here. Some days it just doesn't pay to come out of those jammies!

See ya! Connie

Maria: Hopefully you can enjoy your getaway. It is nice to get out sometimes.

Debra: Thanks, it is nice to know that other people miss workouts too. Takes some of the guilt away. I know how you feel. I have my migraine weekend coming up (sad that it happens like that). Usually I am OK until Sunday, so I should be able to do some miles on Saturday while I am still able to function.

Vicky: Usually the new work the my boss gives me is stupid stuff that he just doesn’t want to do. He will pass off things that need to be done ASAP that he doesn’t want to deal with. If it is fun he keeps it. Interesting about the doctor. At least she was honest about why she didn’t want to do them (I guess). I love that she told you that you wouldn’t hurt if you stopped running! GREAT advice from a doctor.

Jackie: Sorry about the shins. But congrats on getting the 4+ miles in!

Beth: It is great to have someone to run with! I wish I did. I kind of have DH, but we are at such totally different paces that it is hard. Sometimes it is better to go alone, except the long runs get long sometimes.  I have seen Power 90X and it scares me to death!

Connie: Congrats on the downward trend. I am stuck – but at least not going up!

As for me: I slept in my own room last night! That is great after a couple of weeks in the guest room while we tried to remodel and paint the bedroom. What a pain, but it looks nice so I will say it was totally worth it.

As far as exercising goes, I have been a royal slacker this week. With having projects every day after work, and just being too tired to drag myself out of bed in the morning I really only got one day in. I am looking forward to a long day tomorrow. Don’t know how long. I am aiming for 6, but if I can do more I will. I only have 2 weeks until my half, and I am NOT ready!

I signed up to volunteer at a local marathon here in May. I didn’t want to run another half, but found out I can get a “get a day give a day” ticket for volunteering! Why not. I have some friends and family doing the race, so it will be fun to give them their finisher medals. Then I can use my ticket to upgrade to a hopper when I go to DL for the half marathon. Hopefully my plan works.

I could have sworn I responded in the past couple of days....:confused3

Beth: Deprivation is never good. Not only does it backfire, but I find it's a soul-killer. That's why I think I yo-yo so much. I do really good for a while, but then fall off the wagon. You're so ahead of the game if you address this mindset! :thumbsup2 I, too, love a thin-crust veggie pizza with roasted goodness!

I'm so impressed with your work on P90X--and that you end up doing the WO even when you try to "skip it." :lmao: Somebody's telling you something!

In the running and weight loss news stuff....Only 10 miles on your LR? I'm gonna slowly work back up to LRs, and this kind of post is inspiring (if also a bit guilt-inducing :rotfl:). And three pounds is fabulous--like Connie said, your body's just letting the excess go!

Cindy: What Beth said! I never even thought of ulcer! :confused3

Manda: More pats on the back for not running to the candy machine. When I worked near one--just down the hall--I gave in almost every day. When it's there, it's tooooo convenient. Especially for work stress, where much of the time you can't vent. Like you can here.

Great news about the bedroom--that'll help with the work stress. Like you, I run alone. It's meditative, but sometimes those LRs are a mental challenge and I have to dig deep. It makes races a little socially overwhelming, too. Speaking of races, volunteering for a marathon is a great way to combine your love for Disney with upgraded tickets with--I'm wagering--motivation for training. I love volunteering for races because of the latter!

Maria: Remember the importance of rest days! I have a hard time listening to my body calling for one, then am surprised at how the energy level bumps right back up. You did the right thing. And I'm all about making better small choices in nutrition--the "eat this, not that"--rather than trying to overhaul my kitchen and then binging when I go out! :headache: Then I try to incorporate them slowly and permanently.

Silly question about the Maine trip--do you do your shopping there for a reason? Good luck with the sleepover!

Woo hoo on your new hosiery size! :cheer2: That's fabulous! Show off those runner's legs.

Jackie: TOM IS 'Nuff said! :rotfl: I know your boss meant well, but, gee.... Then you are caught between a rock and a milkshake. And the milkshake always wins for me. Good job not eating it in one sitting, though! Hope you have decent weather for your LR this weekend. We'll be in single digits, so I don't know what I'm gonna do. Congrats on getting 4 miles in. You're a tough cookie! (And yep, that made me hungry.)

Vicky: How's your foot? Nothing to be worried about, I hope. I do the same thing, finding myself paying more attention to body parts that are to be tested, etc. Speaking of tests, I'd be peeved with the dr. myself. It's almost as if you're punished for being healthy. Yay for stepping on the scale and, most important, being motivated rather than discouraged.

Connie: 45 minutes to a Walmart? :scared1: Such a different life! What wonderful news on your weight loss, especially to see the results come so quickly after such a long period of time. I'm sure this is a sign that good health news is yours for 2010. And after 2009, whew!

I love the advice you gave to Vicky about needles. I actually wear my iPod because I'm such a freak. Better that than faint, I guess. I need to be better about asking for a different person when they can't find my (tiny) veins.

As for me:
Reposting this from 'Ohana....
Migraine folks...give me a clue. I'm prone to migraines--not as severe as those of you who I know have them. I ended up with one yesterday after a short run outside. Actually, it was a short run, then a sweaty walk to the grocery store in running gear, then chilled on the way home. Can cold weather trigger a migraine? :confused3

So, anyway, I got the run in but bagged the rest of the day's workouts. And now am trying to figure out how to avoid triggering another one.

Just a quick check-in ---

Oh, so we go to Maine because we're going to the L.L. Bean flagship stores and outlet, and it's not a bad day trip. It's also where the vaguely evil SIL lives, so theoretically we can visit her. It gets us far enough away that dh can honestly say he's unavailable for volunteer tasks he's asked to do for his job, if it's something he will truly abhor. Saturday the Mayor is sending volunteers door-to-door to ask people questions about substance abuse. This is so far from dh's comfort zone, it doesn't even make the same galaxy.

I just had an accident with some Twizzlers. DH took the boys to laser tag -- it's 9 degrees here, so just a little cold for snow tubing, the original plan. I was left alone with Tivo, not having dinner yet and...sigh. On the bright side, I'm nice and full now, so I won't pig out on pizza later. I can't believe my baby is 12! I think I am officially old now.

I did my 6M this AM, so tomorrow I'm having a rest day. I was down 1 lb for the week. I'm happy with that -- I know you guys understand. On the BL thread, people are devastated if they only lose 1 lb. I just can't be like that, I'd be miserable most weeks!

Received this in my email in-box, from my gym. Generally, I think of it as spam, but I guess I needed to hear it today....

Boosting Your Metabolism: 10 Tips That Work
Metabolism; simply put, is the process by which the body makes and uses energy (calories) for everything from the cellular absorption of nutrients to running a marathon. Whether you're trying to lose extra pounds or preparing for the inevitable metabolic slowing that comes with age, here are some surefire ways to boost your metabolism to keep your energy pulsating and your body in shape.

1. Build lean body mass. Muscle is the single most important predictor of how well you burn calories. Muscle burns more calories than fat so the more muscle you build, the higher your resting metabolic rate will be. Every muscle cell that you gain is like a little factory that constantly burns calories for you, even while you sleep, and revs up when you exercise.

2. Get moving. You know the drill, but here's a reminder; at least three times a week include 30 to 60 minutes of some form of aerobic exercise. Remember, anything is better than nothing.

3. Eat. It may sound crazy to those trying to lose weight, but severely restricting your calorie intake will slow down your metabolism. Recent studies show that eating smaller meals every three to four hours aids metabolism and weight loss.

4. Ditch the sugar. When you eat sugar you throw your metabolic switch into fat storage mode. Instead add more fiber to your diet; it is harder for your body to process, and you will get a small increase in metabolism.

5. Don't skip breakfast. It's a fact that people who eat a healthy breakfast are slimmer than people who don't. And try to think outside the box. A breakfast bowl of vegetables and brown rice is a great way to kick-start your metabolism for the day.

6. Include hot foods. If Mexican and Thai flavors are your favorites, you're in luck. Spicy food that has hot peppers in it appears to boost metabolism.

7. Drink green tea. Go for green tea which is known to stimulate metabolism longer and more effectively than coffee.

8. Don't forget H2O. Staying well hydrated is essential to flushing the body of toxic by-products that are released when fat is burned. Cold water may also give your metabolism at least a small boost because energy is required to heat the body.

9. Avoid stress. Stress can actually cause weight gain because physical and emotional stress activates the release of cortisol, a steroid that slows metabolism.

10. Sleep. Research shows that people who don't get seven to eight hours a night of sleep are more prone to weight gain.

Of course, factors such as your age, gender and genetic makeup will affect your metabolism. However, if you put some effort into it, it will not be difficult to increase the rate of fat burning.

Debra: Yes, weather causes my migranes sometimes. The shifting temps and or humidity is a big trigger. I've had a headache this week b/c it was warm the beginning and got really cold at the end. It's frustrating to me......very bad trigger. I hope your's is better.

Manda: Glad you are back in your bedroom! And also glad that it turned out so well!

Maria: Happy Birthday to ds!!! Yes, when our kids get to be 12.....we are old. My oldest turned 13! I am REALLY old!

AFM: OK.....Tony Horton is trying to kill me.....and he doesn't even know me! No kidding.....just wow! The first 2 programs (chest/back and arms/shoulders) weren't too bad, but today was yoga. Yoga was really hard. I am not very flexible, so it was impossible. Got 30 min into it and then switched to the old Power 90 stretch/yoga tape. That was more my speed......and I was still pretty sore from yesterday's LR and arm/shoulders DVD. I then did the P90X ab's ......and again, WOW! It's also a killer, but it only lasts 15 minutes! The workout day ended with an easy 4 miler on the TM. I have to say that felt like a piece of cake!

Beth

Hi everyone. I am finally able to post after getting back. We had an awesome trip. The weather was perfect. 2 days of 65 degree highs. The rest were high 70s, low 80s. I ran everyday. The loop was 1.4 miles, so I did it 3 times each morning. Not high mileage, but I was walking WDW everyday.

I get to start my 10 week training plan on Monday. I'm so excited about real running again. I just need the weather to cooperate. At least the snow was gone when I got back!

Eating hasn't been too bad. I only gained 1/2 a pound on the dining plan for 8 days. I consider that a success! Now, I just need to trim a little before I run this half. The extra few pounds really feel like they are weighing me down. Of course, it's probably mostly mental, but that's all you have on those long runs!

Hi Leanies! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Maria - How was the trip to Maine? I love love those Kashi granola bars! My favourite is the peanut butter flavour! Congrats on the 1lb loss! I'd be happy with that any day. I guess people aren't happy with it because they have expectations of a bigger loss - I forget where I read it, but there was something about not expecting to take all of the weight off in a day, week, month etc. because you didn't put it on that quickly. I'm guilty of forgetting that too sometimes. Happy birthday to DS!!

Connie - Yikes snow! Sounds like a good day to stay inside and read a book! WTG with the weight loss! I'm going to bring DF with me when I get my needle. One of my fears was the technician not finding the vein and having to poke me over and over again so I'll definitely speak up and ask if that happens! Thanks for the advice :)

Manda - I hadn't thought about volunteering at a local race and getting a Disney park ticket in exchange. It's tough when training takes a backseat to things in real life :( I sometimes wonder if there's anyone who can fit in all their workouts and training perfectly. Which half are you running?

Debra - When you mentioned migraines, I was going to suggest accupuncture but then remembered the needles. Both my chiropractor and PT have told me that it's not the same because the needle is very thin but I'm still :upsidedow Ahh.. sleep :headache: I've moved into the 6-7 hour/night category which is better than the 5-6 hours I was getting last year. It's tough to 8 hours a night...

Beth - For some reason, I read Tim Horton instead of Tony  I guess I have my mind on food this afternoon! (In case anyone is wondering, Tim Horton's is a popular donut/coffee shop in Canada). Those workouts must be a killer if a 4 miler is a breeze! Good job!

rubato - You gained 1/2 a pound on the dining plan! Wow! You were making some good food choices :) I went a little nuts when I did the DP back in October. Which half training plan are you using?

Cindy - How's your stomach doing?

AFM - I was suppose to do my 11 mile LR today but the temperature was -18C so I thought I'd save it for tomorrow when the weather warms up to a balmy -10C. I ran 3.75 instead (6K) and got in a good pace of 9:56 m/m... I did end up stopping once because the air was just too cold and I felt like I couldn't get enough of it in.

I have my first meeting with a nutritionist on Thursday evening. I'm going to bring her my training plans and my food journal and see what she has to say about eating and marathon training. I'll let everyone know what she says.

:wave2:

Connie: Happy be-lated birthday! I hope you had a good one!!!!

Vicky: The P90X is a killer! But, I feel good with the workouts so far. I have lasted a week! I did the Kenpo X last night.....oh my! I was exhausted after that one! I do recommend it though......it's either going to get me in good shape, or kill me! :scared1:

AFM: See above! I have kept up with running and the P90X too. I got 36 miles in last week, with a long run of 10. I did the P90X usually in the evening. Two hard core hours of working out! I am down 3.5 pounds. I will have to trend the P90X down when my races are coming around though.....I get really sore after some of these workouts!

Beth

Good Morning, Lean Meaners!

In spite of this weeks' question being all about ice cream, things are already starting to warm up at the W.I.S.H.-Wide Monday Mixer!

What is the Best Ice Cream Treat on WDW Property? Include a picture or a story, if you have one!

Come and join in - it's lots of fun! (plus, there are no calories in virtual ice cream OR beverages) See you at the Mixer!

Good Morning, Lean Ladies!

I am determined to be back on track today, as this weekend was a free-for-all :scared1: Thanks for all the good wishes for ds! He had a great birthday, and plans to use his combined birthday and Christmas loot/gift cards to get an ipod touch.

Corinna -- I am definitely going to make it over to the Mixer! :woohoo: :mickeybar

Beth -- Wow, you are really kickin' it! I was happy to get in 6M friday AM, but it was all downhill from there... :sad1: Oh well, new month, new week, new effort!

Connie -- Happy Belated! party:

Vicky -- Maine was great -- a bright sunshiny day, if quite cold :cold:. My SIL was catching a plane for FL, so we didn't see her. I now own my first down coat, and I love how light and warm it is! It was a very pleasant outing, and I know we'll be back when it warms up. It's going to be a great place to take company who want to get out a bit. Good luck with the nutritionist, I think you are going to be very glad you have that appointment!

Rubato -- That is a fantastic result for your vacation, you should be very proud you must have made some great food choices! :thumbsup2

Debra -- Thank you for the tips, always good to see what we need to do in writing!

 to Manda, Cindy, Jackie!

Everyone have an awesome day, and Happy February!

Maria :upsidedow

Debra: I don’t know much about migrains other than that they are horrible. I do notice that mine are worse if I let myself get dehydrated at all. I always try to drink WAY too much water when I know I am going to get one. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn’t. I also get them when the weather is changing, so if a high or low pressure is coming in. Some people get achy joints, I get an achy head! (but I always know when it is going to rain).

Maria: We know that 1 pound is a good, healthy, sustainable loss. You are doing wonderful!

Beth: Amazing! I was talking to a friend yesterday who is starting P90X and he said he couldn’t get out of bed after doing it. I know I am not ready for something like that. You are amazing!

Rubato: Impressive on the ½ pound gain. That doesn’t even count as a gain! Glad you had a good trip.

Vicky: I am running the Palm Springs half. I decided to do that one since DH’s grandparent’s live in Palm Springs, so I have a place to stay for free, and it had a relatively cheap entrance fee. I should have thought a bit more about how bad I was going to be about training in the winter, but it should still be a fun 3 day weekend.

-18C is just cold! I wouldn’t have even ventured outside. I am just not a fan of the cold. I am inside for another month or so until it warms up.

AFM: Not a bad weekend for me. I got some badly needed sleep on Saturday morning instead of getting up early to run. So my run was cut short and I did 3 miles, but I was so happy with those 3. I am trying to find a pace I think I can keep up for 13.1 miles in a couple weeks. I may have found it. I will be slower than I hoped, but hopefully faster than my last ½ (which was 3:00 all walking). I think if I can add a little running without hurting myself (I have horrible knees! They were just built wrong) then I can improve my time. I don’t have dreams of ever being able to run an entire race, just not possible with these legs, but I hope to be able to add a little bit of variation now and then.

I got on the treadmill on Sunday too and had a surprise. I was watching a movie, so the lights in my exercise room were turned down. I was on a running interval when suddenly it got harder. The incline on my treadmill decided on its own that it wanted to go to the very top! Once I figured out what was going on I stopped the belt and tried to decline. It didn’t want to go down. I had to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to go down. I hope I don’t get many more surprises while running!

Hellooooo, Lean Ones!

I hope everyone had a great weekend--especially Connie! Birthdays are extra special occasions!

Maria: Great news about DS very happy bday and your day trip! And, yes, the day trip. A much-overlooked vacation. :goodvibes Even with vaguely evil SIL (what does that constitute exactly, an evil laugh but no supertights?) always potentially in the picture, that sounds like a good thing.

Congrats on the 1-lb. loss. I think that's fabulous, and you've got an eye out for the long haul. I do think lots of people are too hard on themselves, especially with a BL-style challenge. The show, inspirational as it is, sets people of for high expectations. Unless they're coupled with real lifestyle changes, like you and Beth (whose workplace BL I remember), that weight is gonna creep up again.

Beth: Good to know about the weather--it's never triggered one for me before you and know me--I like to have a reason! It's not enough to keep me from being outside, but I'll be more cautious about outside cool-down periods now.

P90X sounds absolutely incredible, and I'm impressed that you've managed to finish that in addition to your running, etc. Are you taking pictures to document your progress along the way? (Just asking because of the infomercials!) That weight loss is pretty spectacular, too. Do you attribute it to the new ways you're working out your muscles, new eating, both?

Rubato: Welcome back! I'd definitely say you "won" with only a 1/2 pound gain on vacation, especially with the DDP! :woohoo: ITA about the difference even a few pounds can make in how we feel about our running and ourselves! And you sound really energized for your training plan, so another nice perk from a good vacation with good weather. I hope nice weather sticks around for you at home.

Vicky: Oh, you know I love Timmy's! I wonder what your nutritionist would have to say about them! :rolleyes1 When the weather is that cold out, do you wear headgear or a scarf that covers your face. That's one of the things I dislike the most about the cold weather--having to cover my nose/mouth and my face getting all moist from my breath. Yick! :scared:

Manda: Interesting suggestion about the water/migraines. I don't know if I do that, and I'll try that. Steady, adequate hydration is one of my weak spots anyway. Great news on getting some good sleep in and finding your running pace. I do intervals, too, in hopes of being easy on my knee and an ankle. What's your planned RW interval plan for the half or will that depend on the course terrain? P.S. Maybe your TM was just helping you with hill work?! :rotfl2:

As for me: I'm still on my WO streak, a new record for me! :cool1: And I'm feeling a little tired, but not horribly so. What I have noticed, though, is that I'm tending to default to the same-old, same-old rut. And I've done nothing to find that new, non-training activity yet. So that's a mini-goal for February. Gotta keep challenging myself mentally, or physically I just won't work as hard. The problem is, as it is for so many of us, balancing out all the WOs and training with the rest of my life. It's just so easy to do what I always do...

In minor annoyance news, my gym is redoing the women's locker room with new tiles, floors, showers, etc! Yay! But they've went from 8 showers to 3 as of today. It's now at the point where I have to consider if it's more time efficient to get up even earlier so I can leave and come home to shower. Grrrr. And the new locker room design isn't markedly better--in some ways worse--than before. Some of my gym's members have left for the new hotness that opened up 2 blocks down the street and is apparently cheaper. We pay about $150/month at our gym, :scared1: so I'm always tempted by the new hotness.

Last bit o' news: Official weigh-in day for me. I'm down another 1.5 pounds for a total in Chunk #1 of 3.5/5.0 pounds, or 70%. I'll take it!

A second post today!

Maria: WTG on the pound! Yes, I think it is wise to slow up the weight loss so we can maintain it. With the work you are doing, you deserve it! I am glad that ds had a nice birthday! And for the new iPod coming!

Debra: $150 a month seems like a lot for 2 people! :scared1: I was complaining about spending $80/month for 3 of us! ((((Complaining more that the other 2 didn't ever go!))))) I have since dropped both of them and is down to only $36/month for just little 'ol me! I would certainly check out what the other hotty has down the street!

And, WTG on the 70% weight loss! That's awesome! And to what do you attribute that too? Your workout streak? I can't believe you are 'streaking' with me! I have another going too.... 32 days today! (I got 6 miles in this morning so I can count today!)

I don't think that my weight loss will continue though.....I am definetly building muscle (at least I hope so with all this workout crap!) so I think the weight will stabilize for awhile. Idon't mind staying the same weight, and losing a dress size! That would work for me!

Yeah, I hope to keep going with the P90X for awhile.....I think it's a great workout. I have a love/hate relationship with Tony Horton!

Hey to the rest of the lean ladies!

Beth

I hate posting back to back.....nothing new to comment on!

AFM: (again!) Pilates class last night was a killer! She really did ramp things up last night. I was sore before I even went to bed! That's ok....my abs need it!

This morning's tempo run wiped me out. I was running the middle 3 miles at 9:30 min miles.....and the sweat was flying! And I get to look forward to chest/shoulders tonight! That one is mostly all pull-ups and push-ups!

The morning protein smoothie has been working good for me. I drink that right after my run, then have a scrabled egg with 1 pc of high fiber WW toast at 9am. That combo seems perfect! I am not starving in the morning, or at lunch!

My friend Heidi asked me if I feel stronger yet.....that was on Sunday. I was really sore at the time, since Sunday was my 60min of Kenpo! But I have to say that I am more aware of my body, and how it moves. I feel the muscles working with each strength movement now.....I have really never had the 'awareness' before. So maybe something is working? We'll have to wait and see!

Beth

Morning Leanies! Looks like the groundhogs saw their shadow so a little more winter. I hope they're wrong. What does a rodent know anyway

Beth - I think the DOMS means that your body is getting use to the new exercises. When I started doing heavier weights last summer, I'd get that a lot and I've noticed in the past few months, it's dropped off a lot. WTG on your speedy run this morning!

Debra - WTG on 70% drop so far!! Yup, I've got a balaclava. I call it my ninja mask so I can avoid all the usual "are you going to rob a bank" jokes. Actually I took a picture of myself before I left for my run on Saturday and meant to post it. I'm wearing so much stuff it looks silly! Do any of the local gyms give you a discount based on your employer? If you're not locked into a contract, you should go and check out the other place, get their rates and see if your gym will do anything for you.

Manda - I've always wanted to go to Palm Springs :) It's great that you'll have a place to stay too! I'm all for crashing at a friend's place when I travel since hotels tend to be pricey! The winter weather isn't too too bad but it does make the LRs harder when you have to carry more stuff with you. I hope your TM isn't broken.

Maria - Glad the trip went well and you avoided SIL! Maybe your new coat will help to offset the groundhog's prediction this morning.

Connie - Happy belated birthday! How's the eating/diet going? Do you have any new recipes for us?

Cindy - :wave2:

AFM - I hit the gym last night and did some training. Did the dreaded Spiderman crawl across the gym floor and made it once in each direction without completely dying. I also managed to do a couple sets of deadlifts of 135 lbs! That's my heaviest to date so that was really exciting!! I had to do them with my shoes off which looked funny.

Got out this morning for my run because I knew with the season premiere of Lost tonight, I wouldn't have time. It was chilly but it was nice to see other people out there running too.

Have a great day everyone :wave2:

Good Afternoon, Lean Ones!

Not much new to report -- still not exactly (ok, not even close to) following my workout or eating plans. I just can't seem to get going this week.

I had yoga at lunch, so I am at last feeling looser and more peaceful. Actually, I'm downright sleepy...

I am so impressed with how everyone else is moving, and constantly changing their activities and goals to keep yourselves involved. I'm not sure how to get my jumpstart going, but I know I need to...

Maria: P90X would do the trick! ;)

Knowing only what I've heard you guys say about it. I am afraid, I am very afraid! :scared1:

Sometimes I have to give myself permission to just do a little to get going again. When I can't face 5M, I have to let myself do 2 or 3 -- just get moving and get in the habit again. I may try something like that tomorrow morning...:confused3
