Our next trip is Feb. 2004. We are getting a nice tax return that we are going to pay for the trip. I am planning to put that money in a 6 month CD so no teptation touch it for anything other then the trip. Then maybe by our tickets down to Orlando and put the rest in another 6 months CD. My question is do you all think I should buy my Park Hoppers now? In 6 months? Just before leaving. I did renew our Disney Club membership so I am not 100% sure how that factors in to buying our park hopper tickets. So I am just looking for thoughts and ideas. Thanks. :D

Disnee Dad Says.............................Find out when they last raised ticket prices, I think it wasn't too long ago. If so wait six months and then get them, if you wait till you go they will go up again. The money saved will better than the inerest you get on a 6 month CD. They typically rasies prices 4or5 %.

The DC discount applies to 5-, 6-, and 7-day PHPs. The savings varies with the type of pass bought but for an adult 6-day PHP, you would save almost $28 per pass if the numbers on Deb Wills' site can be trusted.

If that's the case and you will be purchasing PHPs, then I would recommend buying them in advance since you would probably not realize that much in interest and the potential to save the money disappears when the DC is discontinued.

I think they last raised ticket prices in Sept 2002 (someone correct me if I am wrong). There will most likely be two ticket price increases before your 2/04 trip. If you are sure you are going, my suggestion would be to buy your passes now. I have the DC card too, but have found that purchasing tickets through ticketmania.com, or connections (see the mousesavers.com for a good explanation on this...join for the one month $1 membership, buy your tickets and then cancel your membership before they sock you with the annual fee). If CD interest rates would more than offset any ticket price increases, then you would be better off with the CD and purchasing your tickets later, but CD rates are so low right now that it might not be your best bet.
