Wordle- Who is playing?

I use the same word for my first guess each day. It has a lot of vowels in it! After that I usually guess correctly within two to three more tries.

I am just now realizing that all the FB shares I keep seeing my friends post about the day's Wordle are their attempts at solving. I had no idea what the colored boxes were.

Got it in 3 today

Wordle 224 3/6

⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛
🟩🟨🟨🟨🟩
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

I’ve been starting with the same word, in this case, Raise. My second word varies but I will use letters that were not in the first word even if they get highlighted. Process of elimination helps.

4 today. Kind of a pretty pattern

(And yes to the question - other times I have used a word that wouldn't work to narrow it down.)

Still learning here.

I have only played it on my desktop. When everyone posts these pictures & the other one below/grey by @Frozen Canuck - when do you see this picture?

Also, does the desktop/laptop and phone keep your record of playing so you can pause/keeps your score/statistics? If so, it's not doing it on the desktop (the only gadget I have played it in).

When you know the answer, do you just type it in the next line below? What if you know the answer after you are at the bottom line (I have not been on it yet).

Yesterday's word had two options - still got it at row 5. But I feel I don't know all there is to know with the game.

TIA

I play it on my desktop. When I finish a game and the little screen pops up that shows your tries and score, there is a place that says "Share." Click on that. On my computer, it says "copied to clipboard," or something similar. I then go straight to the Disboards and select "Paste." the image will show up.

Okay - I saw the share. Was not sure where I was sharing it. So I can share it anywhere at that time - here, FB. thank you.

Does your desktop though hold the puzzle/game - pauses it if you cannot finish it at that moment for whatever reason? My son had told me (he only plays it on his phone) that you can finish it at a later time in the day. Thank you again :)

Oops! I forgot the other part of your question...

Yes, the desktop/laptop keeps track of your daily record. When you are on the Wordle screen where you play the game, at the top, to the right of the word "Wordle," there are two symbols. One looks like a bar graph. If you click on that, after having completed a game, it should show you your stats...how many wins, loses, and how many tries you have taken.

Each line is one guess. Type a five letter word in the first row. (I use the same word every time, but lots of people mix it up. I usually use a word that has a good combination of vowels and super common consonants, hoping I will get lucky with at least one or two letters, but even if I don't, I still know that my options for the second try have been narrowed down. Someone did a "scientific study" and found that the word LATER was supposed to be the best starting word, but that is not the one I use. You can choose whichever word you want, or switch it up.) Once you have your five letter word typed in, hit the ENTER button.

The game will return with either letters lit in green, which show they are the correct letters in the correct positions, or in yellow, which means that those letters are in the word, but in the wrong positions. This gives you information, to where you can start rearranging the letters in your head, but adding in some of the remaining untried letters. It is important to note that some letters can be used twice.

The whole key of the game is to solve it in as few tries as possible. Solving the word in three or four tries is great, in five or six tries, you are still doing well, in two tries, you are amazing or an extremely lucky guesser. If you solve the word before the end of the sixth row, you are a WINNER. You will know this, because all of the boxes will come back green. If, after six tries, it comes back with some boxes still in grey, then you have lost that round.

I just always leave my Wordle window open, and it holds my game, even after I have turned my computer off. I haven't tried closing my Wordle tab and then coming back, but I assume it would hold it???? Let me try it for you...putting my winning streak on the line for you...

YES!!! I can definitively say that it does hold your game, even if you have answered some words, but not completed it. I hope this helps!

Desktop does. It resets the next day, but you can completely close the browser and still go back to see your progress for the day.

Still doing the Wordle Archive.................These are hard. But, I am hanging in there.
I do not shut off my computer and I can go right back the next day and it holds all my games
Thanks Canuck!

Just had this headline pop up on my news feed, "Dordle, a new more evil Wordle, challenges you to tackle two words at once."

If you find Wordle beneath your puzzling threshold, perhaps Dordle, will suit you better. It is currently not working on my desktop, but it looks like they have been tackling bugs, so maybe it will start working soon for me.

ETA: It is still a little rough around the edges. I clicked in the middle of the screen and a Dordle game opened. It was weird that it didn't have a specific button for starting a game.

My first Dordle game results:

ETA: IF YOU POST YOUR GAME SCREEN LIKE I DID BELOW, BE SURE TO ERASE THE ANSWER, WHICH IS GIVEN RIGHT BEHIND THE DORDLE SCORE (4&7/7)!!! (Sorry to anyone who saw the answer that posted with my results. I feel like that is a huge bug in the game. Remove the spoiler before posting so others can enjoy the game as well.)

This game is much harder. As you select your five letter word, the two words show up identically on each column. Once you have solved one of the words, then the letter changes begin to only show up on the second word. I nearly lost this one. I was down to my final guess before getting it, despite the fact that so many letters had been eliminated.

Thank you so much for explaining so thorough :)

I have my own word with three vowels that I started with too now.

I will check out the bar graph when I attempt to word of the day later.

Much appreciated!!!!!!

Okay, this one was crazy. There were so many options for what the letters could have been and barely enough time to try them all! (It wasn't that hard of a word either, other than the number of potential combinations.)
