Wording for CR room request, reserv. made through SoG

I am trying to type up my fax request for our CT tower overflow rate made through SoG and I have a question about the wording. Here is the thing - I have been reading on this board both good and poor treatment of SoG guest at CR, and I am wondering if I should mention SoG in the fax request. I figure that once they look up the reservation number they will see that it is a SoG overflow rate and there is no need for me to bring it up. But I also have the fear (probably irrational) that once they see it is SoG, they will not put much of a priority on it (as they would a non-SoG reservation).

Also to add, we actually have 2 reservations for CR through SoG. The first 2 days are an actual SoG reservations and we will be staying in the north wing, no special request there, except non-smoking. And the last 3 days, we have an overflow rate through SoG for a CR tower room. So I plan on mentioning that in the request with both reservation numbers. We will be changing rooms, but at least we won't have to go to a different resort.

Another idea I had, was to not do the fax request and just verbally make the request when we check-in for the SoG north wing room. We check-in for the SoG north wing room on a monday and will be switching to a tower room on wednesday. Will this be enough time for the room assigner or should I fax a request just before we leave??

Any ideas/suggestions? This is my first time faxing a room request.

Also, on Deb's website, when she talks about faxing your room request, she recommends stating in the fax why you want that request. Well the only reason I am requesting a view of Magic Kingdom, is because it is a childhood dream. Should I mention that, or leave it out, because probably everybody has that dream. One of the earliest memories of Walt Disney World that I have is circa 1973, going through the CR on the monorail and thinking I was going to stay in this hotel one day. It has only taken 29 years since then but it will finally come true!!

As long as it's not a busy time period, waiting until you arrive shouldn't be a problem, however, the SoG rooms are usually sold out. So, if you wait until you arrive your chances of having your NW requests met might be slim, but the tower stuff should be okay. Best bet is to go ahead and fax your requests to Disney to be on the safe side.

I wouldn't bother mentioning the reservations were made through SoG. I'm sure most people don't tell Disney they had their best friend or travel agent or some one at CRO make their ressy for them so, why tell them a middleman like SoG did? Just more info they don't care about.

As to telling Disney why you want your requests, it's up to you. I can tell you we at SoG didn't care and it usually came across as whining. Every guest wants a relaxing/fun/magical experience, best room, nicest view, etc etc. There were a few requests that were 'different' and were paid a little more attention to; such as those with special needs or those wanting "quiet" areas as those were not the norm. However, as Disney and every other hotel will tell you, you can request the world but it's just a request and NOT a guarantee. I heard a ton of stories from the front desk on guests who had tantrums at check in because they only received some, or none, of their requests. Hope for the best, plan for what you didn't want and be happy you're on vacation and you'll never be disappointed.
