Inspired by either monkeyboy or Bob Slydell (I can't remember which).

Thought I'd toss this idea out, and see if there's any interest for this kind of a word game.

Starting off with a short, base word (3-lettered for now, but maybe if there's interest we could try 4- or 5-lettered), add letters to form a new, longer word (no prescribed length) that contains the short word. The short word could come at the beginning, middle or end of the longer word, but it should be intact. Try not to repeat words already posted: if stuck, start a new series with a different 3-lettered word.

(If there's interest but 3-lettered words turn out to be just too easy, someone feel free to up the difficulty by offering a 4-lettered base word. Or, maybe we could accomplish the same thing by amending the rules such that the base words must be literally within, i.e. in the middle of the longer word and not allowed at the beginning or end, and/or that the longer word must be at minimum 5 or 6 letters long. I'd be open to any other suggestions as well if this game has any life to it.)

Example (based on the more "relaxed" rules) :

If the 3-lettered word is ANT, subsequent posts might include the following: slanted, anterior, piquant, cant, ante, rant, cANTo, etc..

Base word:

CAR
