Hi guys, I was just so excited that I had to share it with my DIS lovin' pals. I had lived in FL my whole life until SO got a job offer in Indy and we moved up here this past April. I had been to Disney tons of times but had never stayed onsite while living in FL. Let me tell you I have been going through Disney withdrawal. Wasn't I glad to hear that he had a business trip coming up in Miami. What great timing. He can go to Miami and I can fly into OIA and visit with my mother for awhile. I still have Disney APs as well as APs for Busch Gardens/Sea World. We decided to stay in Orlando for a few nights to go to some theme parks. I was hoping to get us a great rate of $25 a night at DTD Courtyard, but it wasn't to be, they only had one night of my stay at that rate and the others were higher. I gave my mom a ring and asked her what her opinion was. Did she want to try to find another good rate on Hotel Park Blvd, or one in LBV or Kissimmee maybe? Guess what she suggested!!!! Why don't I see what rates I can get at a Disney onsite hotel? I hadn't even considered it because I thought it would be too much. Well I skipped right over to mousesavers (I knew I had seen a fall code over there recently) and found a FL resident code for $79 at selected mods. I have always wanted to stay at CBR, but that wasn't to be so I chose POR Riverside, my next favorite looking resort. Guess what? They had availability for all three days I wanted to stay. I was a little apprehensive after reading some of these posts on resorts being sold out. And since CBR and Coronado were not included in this special code I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get any availability. I am soooooo excited. This will be my billionth trip to WDW, but my first ever staying onsite.
I will be at POR - Riverside (hopefully a mansion room) Sept. 16, 17, 18!!!!!
Anyone have any advise for a Disney veteren, but first time resort stayer?
