I am envious of you getting two trips! I only get one. Maybe I could stow away in your luggage!
I have suggested the Desert Inn so much that I am beginning to feel like a spokesperson for them! This will be our 8th trip and we have stayed there every time. The times I have mentioned staying elsewhere my family has looked at me like I was crazy. Of course, we are a bunch that likes sticking to what we know so I guess we won't fix what's not broke. My son considers staying there part of our "tradition".
Anyway, they aren't even close to being fancy but they work great for us. We get the C2, which is their largest room, even though there are only 4 of us. My DH snores like a freight train, especially when he's tired, so I've got to sleep elsewhere unless I want to be a zombie our entire trip. At the end of the day it is so nice to have extra room for the kids to spread out from each other. The girls are early to bed and early to rise while the boys are night owls and late sleepers so we don't drive each other nuts. (not to mention the 2 bathrooms) Also, we really like the small area with the sofa. My son sets up his laptop and camps out in there during the small amount of time we are actually in the room. The fact that the fridge and microwave are standard in each room is an added plus that many places charge an additional fee for. So all things considered, I think the DI meets our needs just fine without the additional costs we would rack up staying in a Disney resort.
Oh yeah, we have also come to appreciate their little convenience store downstairs. They have seen my son and I through some tough times when we were suffering from withdrawals from our Starbucks cappuccinos and Diet Big Reds!
