A bit surprised...3-6" forecast (probably lower end) but severe winds/wind chills to go with it.
Fourth day this year...only one more then we gotta figure how to start making them up.
DH & I are both teachers--as he said--luv it until we gotta make them up!
Guess we can get that Xmas stuff put away...sleep late...AHHH....

You can have the snow days as I am so not wanting any this year for my kids. I want school out on time this year as we had enough to make up last year plus had extended school days to make up some of the time missed due to the ice storm.

Have Fun tomorrow and enjoy your time off.

Are you in NE? We have one & my oldest was not happy, she doesn't want the year extended! I was ready to send them back but it will be nice to sleep in another day!

I guess our snow day will be on thursday, maybe friday too.

We will probably have a snow day thurday I'm sure, not Friday though since we don't have school on fridays.

I am in NJ and we had three snowdays on the last three days before Christmas break. Which means my kids were home for 16 days!!!!:scared1: Of course they were all ready to go back Monday and youngest woke up with high fever and headache. Now she's been home sick for three days! I NEED to get out alone!!! My oldest has two dr appts today so now I get to drag her along too!! Have fun on your day off!!!

Mom3girls, I feel your pain.. We are in NJ too. We leave for FLA next Thursday and now I have my 12 year old home sick. The tree is still up, and I have so much to do prior to leaving.
Hope your kids feel better soon.

Chicago suburb here -- 8-10" of snow from midnight tonight to Thursday night.

I'm supposed to fly to CA for a conference at 6:00 a.m. Friday morning. I'd really love to be able to stay home!

We're in Central Indiana and the forecast for us is 3"-6" of snow; it's supposed to start snowing around midnight tonight and go until Friday morning. Here at work management is watching the weather to see what we'll do about any office closures. I work from home every Friday anyway so if the office does close on Thursday I can just work from home that day too.

My DD (12) is keeping her fingers crossed for a snow day tomorrow!

:cold:

my mom teachers here, and she said at this rate, they'll be celebrating the 4th of july at school!:scared1:

Will school really be cancelled for just 3-6 inches of snow?

Not sure where the OP is from, but when you head south and snow falls- everyone panicks and schools close, groceries are overrun, etc. It can be just an inch and they are delaying or closing schools.
I personally dont want anymore snow days. At this point Im afraid we will end up going to school through August- well, then we would just have to start again:rotfl2:
We havent had weather and snow days like this in years. Im sure we will be delayed or cancelled Friday too:sad2:

LOL...I'm sure it doesn't seem like much to some, but 3-6 inches plus the super cold in MO is definite makings for a snow days. We only get snow maybe two to four times during the winter so people really don't know how to drive on it. I'm actually really annoyed because my kids are just going back to school today from the X-mas break. So back one day then off for another day or possibly two.

P.S. I remember growing up in FL and they cancelled school because it dropped below freezing and the heaters just couldn't handle the extreme cold. LOL Those were the good ol days. :)

I always pray for one snow day per year. Philosophically, snow days are completely different from vacation days. Vacation days -- the rest of the world goes on. Snow days -- everything stops.

Unfortunately, now that I'm using the train and bus, I don't have an excuse for not being able to get to work.....sigh.

Northern Illinois here. They are calling for 6-10" starting tonight and going through Friday morning. We haven't had a snow day yet. I know my oldest doesn't want one - he is scheduled to be finished with school 5/25. My youngest is scheduled to go til 6/11 (with 5 snow days) but he would rather have the snow day have a longer school year than go to school any given day!!

:rotfl: Yeah, I laughed when I saw that too. Here, it usually takes 18+ before they talk about closing schools, but we normally get a fair amount of snow so DPW has the equipment to handle it. Anyone ever hear of the Golden Snowball. ;)

I'm originally from Michigan but live in Kentucky now and we had one year where they gave 13 snow days. Most of those were for "expecting" snow that never showed. It kills me when they cancel school for a couple of inches of snow. Our snow days last year were due to a hellacious ice storm where many had no power for a week. Had I known the kids were to be out so long I would have headed to Florida right then for a few days like some friends did.

Unlike Michigan, our school calendar only has one day in it for a make up day and then they extend the school year. It makes zero sense but sadly this is what we deal with. Hopefully they will not cancel and will let kids go early if need be tomorrow than we do not need to make the day up.

It's so interesting to see how different the school weather policies are from place to place.
We're just outside of Buffalo. Between two lakes.
Snow is our reality anywhere from October to April:sad2:
We usually get a snow day for snowstorms where visibility is extremely limited, ice storms, or extreme low temperatures.
I think we only had one last year.

It's just cold and snowy every single day.
Can I go to Disney now please?:rolleyes1

We are praying for a snow day tomorrow. Being in Alabama, we don't get very many of them so it would be fun for a day or two. After that, I want it gone. :rotfl:
