I'm not so sure too many of us will share in your exuberance as most DVCers feel this is the main reason that WDW dining has declined and it's has made getting reservations difficult.

Food quality and options have declined, prices keep increasing - not a fan.

That's awesome! I'm so glad it will enhance your trip. :thumbsup2

On a personal note, I'm glad I'll be missing it and that it's not a factor in our trips to WDW. :cloud9: There isn't a free thing about Disney's free dining.

I texted my husband about free dining today!

Since he can't come with us on our DVC trip in June I thought going for free dining to POR would be so nice! We haven't stayed there since 2007 and my kids love it. Just because we are DVC doesn't mean we won't book a package if we are out of points! Hence..I'd love to get a PIN code like I used to!!!

So I know I know...it's not free...cause you pay rack rate for the room.

Well... 2 adults + 3 kids over age 10 = over $1000 for the DDP....

I don't mind that being free with a package!!!!

No, its not free, but it has saved my family a lot of money the past few years. I know one year when we did a longer trip it took around $1200 off of our package. It is one of the biggest discounts that a lot of families can use.
I guess that depends on how big your family is, where you are staying, and what possible AP rates may be published.

I'm genuinely happy for those that can use it, and I'm also happy it ends the day before I arrive. I don't want every TS to be packed to the gills, standing room only, and be unable to get an ADR while we are down there for even the less popular places.

disneybeachprincess,
I am NOT going to rain on your parade. So glad that you got a code that works for your family. Have a fabulous free dining trip!

Probably not the most appropriate forum for posting this info....just saying...:rolleyes1

There is one thing about Disney, they have something for everyone. :goodvibes

"Free dining" isn't really free but if you were to pay out of pocket for the same food you would pay some bucks. The thing is, would you buy the same food if you were paying OOP?

It's also a known fact that because of "free dining" Disney has dumbed down the menus and reduced the portions for everyone and the promotion is offered during hurricane season. Because of the offer, the crowds will be heavier and the wait times longer.

We note when it's offered and deliberately stay away from WDW during these times.

Enjoy the "Free" dining...You will save a ton of money on your trip. You deserve it and it's such a generous offer of Disney to give away "Free" food.:rotfl2:

The good ol' days of the DDP. $34.99/adult that included a $5 appetizer and an 15% tip. I miss that. :sad2:

Agreed....once they know they have the tourist by the balls...they start playing with the numbers to see how much money they can cash in on. Remember, it isn't called the happiest place on earth just for you...it's also the shareholders happiest place!

I remember when MNSSHP was around $31.99/pp....now its over $50.

:rotfl2: Wrong audience to post anything positive about free dining to.

Same here, although we can't always avoid it. OP, I'm happy for you, but I really feel 'free dining' and the dining packages have had a negative affect on dining in WDW, especially the finer table service restaurants.

I am glad it works for you and your family!

I remember how excited I was a few years ago when I was booking the cabins at Ft. Wilderness and my travel agent called me to say Disney was doing a promo stay 4 nights get 3 free :cool1: we were staying 10 nights so this would help. Well once I got the prices it was actually MORE then the previous year staying for the same 10 nights:confused3 That is when I lost faith in the promotions.

Enjoy your stay!:thumbsup2

I actually thought the 4/3 promo was great. We stayed exactly 7 nights, in a Deluxe room at BC, which gave us CL access. I never could have afforded it otherwise. And then I bought DVC and don't care about promos anymore. We did do a free dining stay over Labor Day weekend last year. At a moderate with max occupancy it is not a bad deal at all. But really not a good deal at all for deluxe stays.

Am I missing something or was this intentionally posted on the wrong board? :confused3

It doesn't really END on Sept 29........as long as they check-in on the 29th, the free-diners can be there for another 14 days.:scared:
