Woo Hoo - Airtran Coming to Huntsville

Finally, a low cost carrier in Huntsville!!

They are offering one direct flight to Orlando a day and two direct flights to BWI per day!!

The BWI flights will be GREAT for work travel.

The Orlando flight is welcome, but at a crappy time!! 11:55am to Orlando - 3something in the afternoon from Orlando. That kills the entire day for travel both going there and coming home.

But, in order to keep it, we have to use it!! So I guess I'll bite the bullet and lose some vacation time.

Maybe if enough folks use it they'll expand to two flights a day (early morning and after work).

Don't get too excited. Airtran is famous for making a non-stop a one-stop flight. Read a few threads up or down and you'll see lots of folks complaining about Airtran.

Still, others have good experiences so maybe you'll get lucky. Just remember to monitor your flights even after you purchase the tickets.

I'm not really all that excited. Plus the "committee" that worked very hard to get them here is now pushing to get them to add HSV to ATL flights to the schedule, which will probably kill the direct HSV to MCO flight.

Like I said the time the direct flight is offered plainly is TERRIBLE!!
