Wong-tinez: A Cultural Phenomenon FINAL UPDATE Pg79 #1176 & 1177 NEW PICS

Jon doesn't know it yet, but tomorrow he is getting the character award for the year! His teacher called me tonight and told me to make sure to bring the camera to take his pic! :woohoo:

Yay jito Jon!!!

The go-gos!!!!

Can't seem to get my mind off of you
Back here at home there's nothin' to do
Now that I'm away
I wish I'd stayed
Tomorrow's a day of mine that you won't be in

When you looked at me I should've run
But I thought it was just for fun
I see I was wrong
And I'm not so strong
I should've known all along that time would tell

A week without you
Thought I'd forget
Two weeks without you and I
Still haven't gotten over you yet

CHORUS
Vacation
All I ever wanted
Vacation
Had to get away
Vacation
Meant to be spent alone

A week without you
Thought I'd forget
Two weeks without you and I
Still haven't gotten over you yet

:thumbsup2 :rotfl2: I  the Go-Gos

Kudos to Jon! :cheer2:

We Got The Beat Lyrics

See the people walking down the street
Fall in line just watching all their feet
They don't know where they wanna go
But they're walking in time

They got the beat
They got the beat
Yeah
They got the beat

See the kids just getting out of school
They can't wait to hang out and be cool
Hang around 'til quarter after twelve
That's when they fall in line

Kids got the beat
They got the beat
They got the beat
Yeah
Kids got the beat

Go-go music really makes us dance
Do the pony puts us in a trance
Do the watusi just give us a chance
That's when we fall in line

We got the beat
We got the beat
We got the beat
Yeah
We got the beat

Everybody get on your feet
We know you can dance to the beat
Jumpin'-get down
Round and round and round

Yay jito Jon!!!

Hooray! Congrats to the little guy! DS's school does a start citizen award and I think I would faint if he ever got it.

Thanks guys for your well-wishes to Jon! He just got his award and I have pics...so I'll post them later!

The character award is an award given to a student who exemplifies positive character during the school year. The teachers recognize a student each week, one per month, and then a stand-out for the entire year. Jon has gotten the character award several times this year. Today, he got the award for exemplifying good character all year! Yay Jon...now if he were only like this at home as well...

That's really good, well done Jon, our school do a star of the week in each class but no yearly one and I totally agree when we go to parents evening the teachers always describe children we don't know :rotfl2:

Those are so pretty! How do you make them?

Tera actually taught me...so I'm going to try to put this into written word!

How to make a tutu in easy-peasy steps:

Each tutu has 6 yards of tulle, 3 of 2 different colors. You could use a little more if you want to make it fuller, but these are pretty full.

I measured each child's waist, and cut a length of elastic to fit...with just a smidge to spare.

I sewed the ends of the elastic together to make a round waist-band.

When you buy the tulle, it comes folded in half. Leave your length of tulle folded in half. Lay the tulle out lengthwise, still folded in half. Cut the tulle in half down the fold. Leave the 2 halves together. Then, cut 3 inch or so strips of tulle across the sections, width-wise. It's easiest if you gather the tulle width-wise in your left hand, and cut with your right hand. It will be jaggedy, but this is what you want.

Do this to both sections of tulle.

I also bought 3 yards of ribbon to match the tulle. This I cut to the same length of the strips.

Next is the gathering.

Gather 3 strips of one color and 2 of another. Every few gatherings of tulle, also add a ribbon. When you gather the tulle, make sure the strips are pretty well lined-up. Fold the strips (and ribbon if you have it) in half.

Now this is the difficult part to understand. Place the tulle bunch on the inside of the elastic waist band (with the band on the outside of the bunch), the loop plus a few inches on the top side of the band, and the rest handging straight down (this is all on the inner side of the band--as if you were making a T). Take the ends of the tulle bunch and pull them around the outside of the elastic band and through the loop at the top of the bunch of tulle. Pull the tulle through, down, and tight. Repeat all the way around the band...I actually would place a bunch on one side, and then go directly to the opposite side of the elastic, in order to make things easier.

Good luck and I hope this gives you an idea of how to make this!

Congrats and Mazel Tov to Jon!!!!!

And the reason ours are not like that at home is that it IS home. It's safe. The people at home will love him no matter what the behavior is like. They can let their armor and defenses down and be who and what they are actually feeling - not who and what they are expected to be. In a backwards kind of way, it's a compliment to our parenting. It means we have created a place where they feel safe enough to be pains in the necks.

Or so I keep telling myself.

Take care,

Mer

I understand the comfort thing...as soon as DD began getting into trouble at school I realized she felt safe and comfortable there!!! I commended her teachers for her misbehavior!!!!:rotfl2:

Mer says it's cause I'm a good mom and I'm sticking with that! ;) :rotfl:

Go JON!!!! I am sure he is sooooo proud!!!!

I tried really hard...:sad2:

Well, here is the picture of Jon and his teacher...when Jon got his award! Errrrmmmmm...see how thrilled he looked? I don't know why it came out so dark...

But, I sure did laugh when I saw the look on his face! (look at him compared to the other 5th grader next to him...granted, that boy is built bigger, but is the height of most of the other 5th graders)

100_0800.jpg

He also has had a stomach flu today. Shortly after his award ceremony, he came to my office and said he didn't feel well. He was green as green can be...poor baby. I brought him home and he was sick for most of the afternoon. But, he did eat a little tonight and seems to be feeling a little better. He missed 5th grade BBQ...poor little dude!

I understand the comfort thing...as soon as DD began getting into trouble at school I realized she felt safe and comfortable there!!! I commended her teachers for her misbehavior!!!!:rotfl2:

My DS wanted to go to school so badly. He behaved really well in preschool and for the most part through Kindergarten (except for a couple of times) but once first grade hit he misbehaved a lot more. It's a great school so I guess he just really settled right in. ;)

If you want me to I will...:thumbsup2

Absolutely! Just tell me how much I owe you. ;) We're not doing the dining plan this year so I'm not sure how much cash I will be carrying around (we always carried around a handful of fives to supplement tipping when needed) but I can go ahead and put it in an envelope and stick it in my bag. :goodvibes
