Wonders of Life

Back to original topic.

Did they shut down WoL because it didn't draw enough crowd? It just doesn't seem like it would be cost effective to keep an entire pavilion sitting empty. I would think, in the long run, you would rather want to put some new, shiny thing there to draw new crowds and $$s

Actually one of the biggest reasons WoL closed was that the corporate sponsorship was withdrawn. It actually a pretty good attendance any time I was there. Without a corporate sponsor to pay the costs what incentive does Disney have to reopen the pavilion? It's not as if more people are going to go to Epcot just because it's open and it's going to require more CM's to keep it open so without corporate sponsorship Disney would lose money.

......and folks will still have to pay the full price for an Epcot ticket, no matter how many things are not working or just closed, like WoL. Saves Disney a lot of money. No utilities, no cleaning crew, no CMs running things. Disney is MAKING money with anything they close.:sad2:

They should just tear down the building. I don't care if it i's used for special occasions, it's an eyesore. Tear down WoL and the Odyssey. No matter what their function, to the everyday passerby they serve about as great a purpose as the Legendary Years buildings of Pop Century.

Tearing them down is not a good option! Make them into something is a much better option. It's certainly would be much better economically to use them instead of tearing them down. The Odyssey restaurant has a wonderful location and would do well as a sit down restaurant. WoL is a huge empty shell and almost anything can be put in it without a lot of work. Unlike Legendary Years at Pop these buildings are complete and usable.

Glad you bought up the Odyessey. We really miss that place. It would be nice to see that reopen on a regular basis as the type of eatery it originally was. I never could understand why they closed it. It was always crowded. Perhaps it took business away from the 2 Mexican restaurants right around the corner. Who knows, really :confused3
Sorry, off topic, but we always loved that place.

All I have to say:
Give Me My Weather Pavilion!!!

Alright. I loved that weather rumor when I was a kid I wanted to become a meteorologist. I didn't do well in science so I gave that idea up. But I'd love to go visit it. They could move the tornado "ride" from Inoventions and add a couple other things...and to mix it all up. Keep "The Making of Me" (I love that movie)

hehe, I'd love to see something done to this pavlion other then housing for F&G and F&W.

What a neat idea! I never thought of something based around the weather. With climate change, etc., I think that would make a great concept to build a pavilion around.

an idea i just thought of. They could house their hurricane readiness team there, so you could see current weather models and all the tools used to make those sort of things.

Hrmm...maybe I should consider going back to school.

I think this would just increase the belief in the myth that Disney can actually control the weather... :)

^^^Funny! I remember that old Disney short about seeding clouds.

I'd believe it at DL. Rained the entire time I was in CA, except the two days I was at DL!!

That would be really cool to move the National Hurricane Center there from Miami where it is now. It could provide some ideas for some really neat exhibits and possible rides. The only problem is I don't think NOAA would want to spend the money to be a sponsor. Of course the way Obama is throwing money around these days you might just as well throw some towards Disney! It would be a drop in the bucket compared to some of the other ridiculous things he has spent our money on.

Outstanding comment! :thumbsup2
