Wonders of Life

Sad but true Disney World won't be adding anything exciting and new for 2010 which is very sad but its reality you can dream but in this case our WISHES WON'T COME TRUE .

I second the idea of a Horizons come back. Now that it's been 20+ years and our "horizons" have changed, I think it would be only fitting for FW at Epcot to revisit the concept.

Oh man, if only..................:thumbsup2

^^^Seriously. I thought that was one of the original concepts of Epcot, or FW anyway. To continue showcasing advancements in tech/science.

Yea, that is it exactly! But Disney has apparentley lost it's "way" as far as Epcot is concerned. Another real pity involving WDW.

Yes. Seems to be more about which Pavilion can possibly be cross-marketed with the latest movie or television show.:sad2:

Epcot has always been my favorite park, and probably always will be. I just get sort of sad when I see the $$ machine taking precidence over the ideal. And yes, I know it was always about making money. It's a business. But a business can also stick to its ideals and goals.

.................just like Walt did, day after day.

Epcot needs to immediately remove the kim possible world showcase adventure thing. That show is not even on Disney Channel any more!!!

WDW's higher-ups have indeed lost touch with the magic, and with Walt's original ideals and dreams. It's all about profit now. It's truly a sad thing. I got to experience WoL only one time in person. As a Paramedic/FF, I'd love to see something about health issues concerning medicine or emergency medicine.

But with the way the Walt Disney company has been stuck on stupid lately, they'll distort it into something completely inane, or keep it as storage. God forbid anyone has fun AND learns something anymore......

I agree with the plight of epcot... I mean just look at the Nemo ride... I find more mind numbing then educational.

I don't think it's the worst ride in all of wdw, but I just think it's sooooo lazy and unecessary. There is nothing innovative, exciting, or educational about it at all... Just seems like an excuse/attempt to sell more merchandise.

Just to play devil's advocate, isn't that a bit like saying they should remove the Dumbo ride because he's not in theaters any more? Kim Possible was a huge hit for a while and is now in the Disney stable of characters. I don't like how Epcot has been infiltrated by character tie-ins any more than the next person, but unfortunately the march toward kiddie-fying every square inch of WDW seems to continue unabated.

Actually the Kim Possible thing doesn't really offend me at all. I actually think it's pretty cool. Mostly because you hardly notice it at all. I don't think it takes away or disrupts the showcase at all and it kind of goes with the theme of the place. Top secret spy missions traveling around the world... a neat concept for the kids. Kinda Carmen Sandiegoesque? Plus it didn't replace anything it's just an addition.

But in general the cheap rethread of attractions with dinsey/pixar animated characters really bothers me.

Nemo
Stitch

Unfortunately I'm sure there are more to come :(

Why not let Epcot get back to the World's Fair mentality? Bring in/contract with "outside" Imagineers who want to put their exhibits/attractions on display....worldwide. That goes back to Epcot's ONE philosophy.

"outside" imagineers?!? Whoa. I don't think so.

[the above post is sarcastic for those who missed it]

How is that? World Showcase is (was) supposed to be a place to see a little of what some other countries are like {I said a little} Don't see Kim Possible as something that will show you things about another country. Or is she from another country. Don't know much about the character.

OK, after researching the KIm possible character, I see that she fights bad guys world-wide, so, I guess, and it's kind of stretching it if you ask me, {:rolleyes1} I guess WORLD showcase would be a place for her to be. Don't like it, but I guess I do not have a good enough arguement. So, in the words of {Roseann Roseannadanna} never mind...........

my post was sarcastic or your post was sarcastic? I am confused :confused3

Mine. Sorry. It just seems like they wouldn't bring anything from outside anymore. It all has to be company/movie related, rather than related to the original ideals of EPCOT.

Well the thing that makes KP less offensive to me is it's not as if she is taking over the WS or even a pavilion. I actually forgot the attraction was there last time I was at Epcot and only noticed when I saw the station which isn't in any country just in that area between Mexico and Canada. I think the attraction kinda encourages the kids to explore the different pavilions which is kinda cool. Granted I don't know the details of it... could be totally wrong.

I mean if they plastered her pic all over the pavilions or themed a building or ride based off her character I would probably be angry.

^^^I can agree with that statement. And I guess we don't complain when characters are running around the different pavilions. It just bugs me when they take over an entire area (ie. the new Living Seas)

KP actually cost me $70 :)

When we were there in April, I looked for a short-sleeved Liverpool team jersey, but they didn't have them at the time.

When we were there last weekend, DD#1 and I did KP, starting with the UK mission, and that brought us into the Sportsman's Shoppe, and while inside I decided to look again, and there was the jersey... :)

So, I'd say it did its job there.

I was discussing it a bit with someone while we were there as well. I believe it is getting the younger kids/tweens, for which World Showcase was probably for the most part uninteresting, and getting them not only interested, but getting them IN to the buildings and seeing that there is more than just facades...since KP is not a race at all, you can take your time and look around while you do it.
