WONDERous adventures on the Panama Canal - 4/23/17

I just finally booked air and a hotel for my cruise in November(literally on Thursday). I am so lacking in motivation for next year as air isn't available and Disney hotels aren't listed on the net yet. I am such a slacker:sad2: compared to some of you!

Is anyone arriving a day before we cruise? We are flying in from California. I need some suggestions for a hotel near MCO so we can take DCL transportation to Port Canaveral on Sunday morning. DH doesn't want to rent a car. I know Hyatt is at the airport, but it's too expensive for me. I'm looking in the $150 range per night.
Used my DVC points for four night before the cruise at WDW. One night at Poly and three nights at Grand FL.

:woohoo:I did it! I finished reading THE book! I can honestly say I never want to read another book on the canal and how/why/who was involved. Now back to (im)patiently waiting for the cruise.

Oh my goodness, I can't believe how quickly you read it :worship::worship:
Well, I started by doing a chapter a day. Once I got past the French part of the book it went much quicker and I decided I was finishing it come H*** or high water yesterday. It was a good book with way to much info!

WTG! I haven't started it yet as I was in the middle of two other books which I want to finish first.

It's not like you have to rush, the cruise is a long ways off. I didn't plan to finish it quickly, I just didn't want to keep reading it and prolonging the pain::yes:: Now I am going to watch for good airfare as I am not liking the prices I am seeing:scared1:

Where are you flying from? Anywhere I look, none of the airlines are showing rates that far in advance yet. :(

I am hoping to fly from Chicago as they should have the best fares(hopefully). The only airline that is going into April that comes up for me is United and I am waiting for their fares to go down or Southwest to release their fares. Right now one way to Orlando is a little less than $200.

Okay, so I told myself that if the 2017 EBPC was going to be over Halloween and it ends in Galveston then I would book that cruise instead. It looks like it will be based on the recent release. This will also give me MORE time to save money (and PTO) and possibly upgrade my cabin. I'm not yet going to jump ship until I know for certain I have it booked but will do what I can to make that possible.

Btw, I've decided to do WDW instead of the 4 day cruise. The large ship and short cruise just doesn't seem worth it. But thank you for all the opinions!

Well, I will miss you if you go:wave2:. I was thinking of changing to the EBPC if they left early enough in October as I am very limited on how much vacation I can take at the end of the year. They aren't leaving early enough and I LOVE this group so I am happy with my decision to stay with the WBPC. Enjoy WDW cause with all the new stuff it should still be fun:earsboy:

I did not even think any flights would be available for another month or two. Just had to look for fun and actually booked our airfare! Compared rates for this October next February, and they looked similar. It is an "almost direct" flight (same plane, but lands in Houston prior to MCO) from Portland, OR for under 350.00 per person. There were a couple of options at slightly less, but the connection/ connection city looked the best for us with two kids in tow. It always becomes just a little more real when plane tickets are booked! :). Check and check!!!

Would be sad to not have you join us, but I covet the Halloween PC cruise. Just not a good time to take two kids out of school for two weeks.

Sweet! Glad you got those tickets already. :worship: I've checked several airline and travel sites and none of them are available for the weekend of yet. Almost there though. :thumbsup2

One of my friends mentioned yesterday how this is only 11 months away and I realized it doesn't feel like a month has gone by already since booking. I kind of hope the rest of the time between now and then feels like it passes this quickly. :wizard:

Hi, everyone! We are joining you all on this cruise!
We are Burt and Lynn (me) from Texas. This will be our 25th cruise overall--19th with Disney and 2nd PC (both Disney, last WBPC 2013). Our stateroom is on deck 6, midship, port side. We're staying the day/night before at SSR, and hope to check out the new venues at Disney Springs. We may be interested in the private mixology/tastings and/or Cinco de Mayo bar crawl...so many things to chose from! That's all I know so far! Looking forward to a great cruise with a great group of people!

Welcome!!!

Well, it's done! I've decided to go ahead and book the EBPC. I have the same cabin and it was just a few dollars cheaper so all around happy with everything. I hope everyone has a great time on the WB!

Still impressive - well done.

At least you are going to read it, I just couldn't bring myself to do it

Hey, no moaning about airfare - try paying the prices to fly from the UK ;-)

I am hoping to fly from Chicago as they should have the best fares(hopefully). The only airline that is going into April that comes up for me is United and I am waiting for their fares to go down or Southwest to release their fares. Right now one way to Orlando is a little less than $200.

OMG $200 - I'll take it!!! We are looking at around £650 ($1000) at the moment (admittedly for both legs but still...)

Was that me - or do you have other friends ;)

Sorry to see you go. Hope you enjoy the EBPC.

You really should read the book, actually you are obligated since you gave it to others of us to read. Mandatory reading for you! As to airfare, United dropped to $134 to MCO - I think that is good but mom wants to hold out for Southwest. Not like I need to book airfare almost a year out, but still... I feel your pain on flying from overseas as I remember how much it cost us when we flew round trip to London. I would go back but there is this weird thing I'm addicted to called Disney! They seem to get all my $$:rotfl:
