I think the wonderland tea party would be so much fun but I dont know how my son would react and I dont want to spend $30 on it and have him freak out since adults arent allowed in there. He would go with my Neice who is 8. Has anyone taken their autistic child to it and what was the result???

thanks,
Christina

My daughter has been there (not autistic)... but I did notice that they put a special wrist band on a child, and set them next to the mad hatter at the end of the table.

They do have extra staff in there to help, and they give you pagers when you check in, so if there is an issue, you could come immediately.

I killed the time at the GF cafe they have there, so was only 5 minutes away if there is a problem.

At any rate, I bet they could help you.

The wrist band is ONLY for food allergies.
As for any child with special needs, the parent is the one that knows best.
The things to keep in mind with this event are as follows.
Very noisy, very action packed and no parents are allowed in the room.
The child needs to be able to follow/understand basic directions.
There are up to 28 kids in the room, maybe up to 3 childrens activities cast members and always at least 2 cast members. There are 2 servers that will step in and help with the kids, if needed.
Please keep in mind, that there maybe more then one child with special needs, making it extra challanging in the room, on top of children that need to be taken out of the room to go to the bathroom.
If there is a child/ren that are scared, someone has to leave the room with them, till their parents come back. Not all parents run back when they are paged.
We try our very best to accomodate the children with special needs. The very best thing to do, is call us directly at the Mousekeeter Club at the Grand Floridian, let us know what type of accomdations you need. We keep track of that info and if someone else calls US ( not the dining line) and they want to put in their child with special needs, we will put them on a different day.
Tea Party is the best activity to put children with special needs in.
Please don't hesitate to call us, we really do want to work with you and your children.
