Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

Thanks all for the warm welcomes! I am 40 pages deep into reading this thread and getting to know some of you a bit. Some fellow Texans onboard as well as others from outside the US. One of the advantages of cruising is meeting people from all over the world, as well as finding fellow cruisers from nearby. I will be the passenger with an ever-present Kindle. Last canal crossing I read 8 books. Lesa

Where in Texas are you from! We are in DFW metro area.

Donna and I will be a reading our kindles as well on this cruise. (Shoulda bought that Amazon stock a few years back like I planned to!!!:crazy2: Who knew these things were going to be as popular as they are!!!:confused3 Another fortune NOT made!!!)

There is just something about a paper book! I love floating in our pool , or on ship sitting on bathing ledge, with a 'real' book and not worrying about dropping it in! I have lots of books that have obviously been wet and the sun dried! I think I'm just a bit klutzy. Spouse will be buried in his IPad books.

QUESTION: does anybody know if we can see Los Arcos sailing into or out of port in Cabo?

anyone who wants to join the FB page - please PM me your email address that is attached to your FB account. The FB page is a closed group and can not be located by searching. This was done to provide us with some privacy (on the internet???? LOL!)

there are many folks over there and it is pretty active as well. For those with friends and family cruising that are not on the Dis - just get me their email addresses, I will gladly add them.

I am only adding people via the Dis. This is because there was some strife on the EBTA FB page that caused some frustrations for folks and I would like to keep that from happening.

Thank you for your help - see you onboard!

Cayla

It won't let me PM you because I don't have 10 posts. I'm a seasonal cast member at tower of terror at Disneyworld. Just booked the cruise ysterday. Would love to join the FBk group if possible. My email is rwaters @ gmail

I see the IGT and OGT rates are adding to our numbers. Welcome everyone! This is a great group and I'm sure you all are in for a fantastic trip.

I will have a paperback and Kindle. I read a ton.
We might 'bump' into each other because our noses are stuck in our Kindles! :lmao:

My last canal crossing (2008) was paperback city! So thankful not having to carry all those books this time!!!
My first Disney Cruise I read 7 books and it was a week cruise.

Okay I am glad I'm going on a cruise with a bunch of book people. I had the parents that instead of taking us to the toy store on "toy day" we went to the bookstore. My folks allowed us to get as many books as we wanted. And their way to punish us, instead of grounding... we got our books taken away. I wrecked my eyes reading.

I bought shoes for sister's wedding which I am packing as my dress shoes.

I live a bit more than an hour northwest of Austin in Kingsland. It is on Lake LBJ. I was in Arlington over the weekend for a Rangers game. I lived in the area for several years and discovered the magic of live major league baseball.

I also love the feel of a 'real' book, but DH said I couldn't buy any more until I got rid of some.....well, how do you choose....so, with the Kindle, I don't have to and I still get to keep them! Win-win!!
I do still buy 'real' books, but for cruises, I tend to light reading, and can go through a book+ a day...so to carry that many books, it takes up valuable luggage room. The kindle slides right down in my purse. YESSSS!

My family and I cannot wait for this. Well, actually, I can't wait. This has been on my cruise bucket list since the very beginning! Can someone add me to the facebook page? I can't seem to send messages or emails through here, since I'm new.

Thanks!

Mark
Mark - I think you may have gotten your 10 posts - if not, post your email address here, I will see it and add you from that - then you delete that post so your address is removed.

Has anyone given thought to preferred Dining Rotation? :rolleyes1

Also does the cruise offer anything similar to "memory maker" photo package that they offer at WDW? Flat rate for unlimited digital photos? :confused3
shutters (the subcontracted photographers) offer packages - the prices differs from ship to ship and cruise to cruise...I have seen the all inclusive package for as low as 175 and as high as 499. Be sure to check your paperwork as you board - there is a special that is only offered on the day you board - it is usually the best deal.

HI everyone! I am still trying to figure this out :) I would like to join the private facebook group but I am not allowed to send a PM to provide the email addresses unless I have posted 10 times. I don't want to post needlessly. Any help you can provide would be appreciated! THANKS!!!
I think I got you today!

I do intend to read every post in this thread. Since I have been wanting to book this cruise I have already been checking in on it periodically. I am actually booked on the May 2015 canal crossing, but I will cancel it once my travel agent is in. I was too anxious to book when I saw the price and did it online.

Did I mention I am excited?
I think I got you also!

I am going to be MIA for a week - off to WDW for a short trip (honeymoon part 4!). The wife and I need to get out of NJ for a bit...life is just annoying right now.

Please, have patience for the FB adds. I also posted some photos of the arch on the FB page - I am standing UNDER it. Seems that every 5 years or so on the new moon (or blue moon - I am not sure - my Spanglish wasn't good enough to understand the timing) the waters are low enough that the beach is visible and one can actually walk from lovers beach to divorce beach (or vice versa - which is what I did).

See you all in a week!!!

Cayla

Hi All, I thought that it was about time I stepped up and posted. Like many others I have been reading this discussion board for some time and already feel like I'm part of the group. This is my first Disney cruise, let alone any cruise. My Disney mad sister booked us a holiday together (not her first Disney cruise) as well as our parents (also not their first Disney Cruise). I'm looking forward to meeting new people as well as enjoying a relaxing holiday (the most time off I have had for years). Adele :wave2:

Everyone have a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day week-end. Please be careful out there if you are traveling. We are staying home and enjoying a nice quiet 3 day week-end. Probably cook out some and eat way too much!!!

Welcome aboard Adele. Don't feel that you need to be Disney-mad to enjoy this cruise. There are plenty to things to love about a Disney cruise that have nothing to do with theme parks or cartoons.

Welcome to all the newbies!!!! This is going to be a great group!

Today was my last day of school. Said good bye yesterday to my sweet kiddos. Checked out today. I always savor my summer break. This summer, it can't pass fast enough. We are counting down to September here at the Gilchrest house!
