Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

I've been thinking about that David. And I'd take the quotes with a grain of salt. It seemed to me that everyone and their dog wanted the same 3 or 4 weeks. If that's true they may have tiered up those cruises. From what I have looked at myself Disney started their low season pricing at the same level that they were at the end of 2014. And those cruises were not unflated too much. In fact one person stated that they got a deal that was better than a similar week last year.

Ok, well that makes sense then. If everyone and their brother wanted the same time then yes, it would make sense to tier up those weeks. I know anytime during spring break and the summer months and the holidays are going to cost more. All cruise lines do that. I'm sorry Disney for what I was thinking.

uberplanner...meaning above the norm...I like to have our vacations planned out for about two years out so that I know where and what I need to do to get to them......I'll be booking our Dec 2014 trip in January......but I know what is going where. DCL is screwing with my system!:sad2:

Uberplanner..................................huh.........................I didn't know that................uberplanner.................guess I am one of those too Stephanie. I too, well both Donna and I, like to have our vacations/cruises planned well in advance. So, I am an uberplanner!!! (Can I put that on my resume???):confused3

I was excited the day before the release and not so excited the day after. My wife and I cruise Disney because we love the ships and the people. As I remember when last years pricing came out I wasn't very impressed with it either. This spring when the Wonders pricing came out we booked the California Coast and the Panama because of the pricing. This summer when it appeared the Miami cruises weren't selling and went GTY we booked one. I guess what I'm saying is my wife and I like cruising and we like Disney. Schedules and ports aren't important we have never had a cruise we didn't enjoy together and as long as the prices are reasonable at some point we will still be on DCL.

When I hear Colombia, all I can think of is drug traffickers. It may be beautiful, but I just don't want to take the chance of getting caught in the crossfire! I may be off-base, but I've heard both sides.... people who feel "very safe" there with the strong police and military presence in tourist areas, and others who say the opposite, with a poor, and sometimes desperate, population. No point making myself a target as a "rich" American. I can't think of anything I would be looking for there, so might as well stay on the ship and enjoy the relative peace and quiet while eating lots of soft-serve :) Maybe my age is showing. I'm in preservation mode, lol.

You are thinking of Bogota with the drug cartels. Cartagena is not like that. We enjoyed it when we went in 2008. I'm more worried in Mexico than I am in Cartagena. The violence in Mexico is much worse and I felt more pressure there by the street vendors. But that's just me.

Obviously I don't cruise enough to be bothered by the new changes. Cruises for me are a luxury I save long term for so I'm not in the habit of going often.
I hope to book my next cruise onboard for my daughter and me on one of the new ships. I will be content with having sailed DCL if I get to do each ship once.
Im hoping to be able to do tours in the foreign ports with the cruise line. I'm not interested in doing anything on my own, way to scary. I hope they offer a dolphin swim thru DCL as it is the main port of call event I want a chance to do.

Research it. Columbia, especially Cartagena, has a big American ex-pat population; numerous universities, hospitals... Things get much worse here, we're exploring our options. I'm so looking forward to our visit there, even if it's just for a day.
Mexico: Beaches- private beach clubs- that's our plan!

Below is a link to a post yogibigdog, (DIS name), posted for anyone interested in sending DCL an email expressing your disappointment in DCL's new on board booking policy. Yogibigdog understands DCL's need for the policy but suggests they extend it to 24 or 25 months instead of the 18 months. Just thought I would pass this along to anyone interested.

I just read an article about how many American citizens are giving up their citizenship.

I think after my journey of faith, I want to see different churches. Especially because now I have to be very careful with my diet I can't do my "let's go shopping and have lunch!" It's going to be "let's go to the temple/monastery/church and pay our respects."

I was looking at pinterest for FE ideas: found what I'm doing. The girls and I are going to have a crafting and baking day. Even my sister was like "okay I want the mess ups because they're so cute." And when my sister (who is cool and hip) says something like that, you take notice.

:banana:I GOT APPROVED FOR A CHASE DISNEY VISA TODAY:banana:

I've been trying forever to get one. Now I just have to wait to find out what my limit is.

Yay!

I've lost 16+lbs in the last month. So far my comfy pj pants have fallen off and I noticed stuff is fitting weirdly. I'm kinda' stopped buying clothes because I don't want to buy stuff and have it not fit in a couple weeks. So no cruise clothes until the free fall of weight stops.

I know you've been sick, but I'm so, so envious!!! Hope you're feeling better.

Sweet! I love mine. (Almost too much)

Good luck with it! I know I'm bad with my favorite card! I know the number by heart so I don't even need my card to be able to use it : ( Makes online shopping very easy : ) Spouse isn't quite so happy about that : /

LOL.... My husband thinks it's dangerous that I know the card number by heart, too. I don't have a Disney card, but I have one that gives cash back at the end of the year. I tell him that if it wasn't for my spending we wouldn't get nearly as large a check at year's end, :rotfl2:

Funny, my bottom line was nearly the same as yours but the FAT to SAN was only $107. But the MCO to FAT was higher so I spent nearly the same as you.
