Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

We've just booked our excursions, is the any way we can pay for them now rather than just adding them to our shipboard account ( as our exchange rate is really good at the moment).
We tried to pay online using our credit card but the message says that we are trying to pay more than we owe.

Unlike other cruise lines I've never seen anywhere on DCL you could prepay. You might be able to call them and pay in advance but I have never tried.

So... Yay for having the weirdest sleep schedule ever! I just booked our excursions:
Paradise Beach (think that's what it is called) in Puerto V.
Best of Cartegena tour
Sept 19th Palo Brunch.

Now I am searching Trip Advisor for Cozumel and I stumbled on this:

https://www.facebook.com/ChocolateriaIslaBella/timeline
It is a half mile from our cruise terminal (which I think is the Langosta/lobster port?), then up about a block. It looks amazing! I think I maybe purchasing co-workers chocolate as souvenirs. And Jaque Peppin goes there. So, yeah. This, a margarita, and chips/salsa I think I am good.

Those look amazingly yummy. May have to stop by there if there is time after our tour.

Hi y'all!

I've just booked the Old Town Hotel. It's not especially near the port, but it's in the Old Town area (duh!) and we got a room for $101/night including tax. It's also rated #19 out of 269 by tripadvisor. Only downside(s) may be it's close to a superhighway, and it allows pets (which may be noisy). It does get very good reviews. We figure we're going to take a cab to the port anyway with the 15 steamer trunks we're taking (just kidding – although sometimes I think we're headed in that direction!). And we're flying into LAX then driving down the coast to San Diego.

What is everyone else doing for hotels?

See You Real Soon!
Richard

We're staying at the Best Western, Yacht Harbor. Main reason is the location... 1/2 mile from my husband's aunt's house. We plan to visit her one day we're there, and we'll be getting together with a doll collector friend of mine and her husband another day. The hotel has a free shuttle to the cruise port.

I think you can call Disney Cruise Line directly and add some money to your onboard account. That would be worth trying. If your exchange rate is really good you could maybe put some extra on your account, if you have the funds available, to pay for your gratuities etc.

Hey Cruisin! I'm looking at your avatar, and it looks like a Scout merit badge! Are you into Scouting? I've been a Scout leader for 25 years – my son grew up, but I never did. ;)

we are also staying there!
We are flying into SD Wed 10th and have 2 nights at Old Town. We booked in Jan and it cost us just under $170 for the 2 nights but tax is to be paid locally (not sure how much that will be).

thanks, will give them a call.

Greetings everybody! I'm Marcia. My husband Marcus and I will be cruising the Panama Canal this fall for our anniversary! Hubby and I got married on the Wonder in 2010. This will be my sixth Disney cruise (though I won't be gold until after this cruise because our Dream preview didn't count toward Castaway Club) and hubby's fourth. We're both Walt Disney World Cast Members who will be flying out for the cruise.

Preview cruise didn't count, huh? Bummer. We're glad to have you on this one. Get Cayla to add you to out Facebook page. Nice to have cast members aboard. Of course you probably don't like to talk shop. From your DIS name I'm assuming that one or both of you work on the Haunted Mansion? My son would be soooo bummed that he won't be there to meet you on this cruise. He's a HM fanatic. (No he's not goth, just likes the mansion).

Hey Richard.

It IS a Scout merit badge but I am not in to scouting. My son was a scout for a lot of years, I think he probably started about the same time that you did ;) He still carries a love of canoeing and canoe tripping and still hangs out with his scouting buddies at the age of 30. They take annual canoe trips together. Scouting was a big influence on his childhood.

The Scout badge signifies a group that we had going on the Community Board here for a long time. Actually since 2003 and it is still in existence but hardly anybody posts there anymore. We have gone to Facebook :rotfl:

The thread is called "Who feels like a Threadkiller", someone thought that merit badge was a good representation of killing a thread, for some reason and it just stuck with us over the years.

The threadkiller thread is actually the longest running thread ever on the Community part of the DISboards that is still being posted on.

We are staying at the Wyndham San Diego Bayside, a short walk to the cruise terminal.

:welcome::welcome::welcome:My dream job is being a nurse at Magic Kingdom putting bandaids on boo-boos. Do they even have those :confused3

Us too, us too. I got in on a great deal saving $50 over our previous reservation at Porto Vista Hotel, but even as close as it is, I'm not sure that we can walk over with 4 large suitcases, 2 carry-ons, and purses :scratchin. May be a little overwhelming, but it's my understanding that they offer free shuttle service to the port and we will definetly be using the free shuttle service to the zoo on Thursday :dance3:.

This is my first Disney cruise in over 10 years. Last I heard Palo brunch was $20. Went to book today and noticed it's now $25 - same price as dinner. Since they are the same price which one is best?

We have never been, but if you go through all the prior posts, most seem to think Brunch is better.

Happy Fathers Day to all you Dads out there! Hope your children call you and bombard you with love and affection!

Ok, have to ask: what is a "thread killer?"

We are doing both. I think they are both fantastic. That said, we haven't sailed on the Disney Wonder or Disney Magic in a while, so we usually pick Palo Brunch and Remy dinner on the Disney Dream or Disney Fantasy.
If I absolutely HAD to choose, personally, I'd go brunch.
