After a night of panic as we received a phone call from Delta Express letting us know that our early morning flight had been cancelled, we managed to get off with out a hitch this morning. Woke up nice and early to drive to an airport other than the one we were originally to leave from and caught a 8:30 flight out of JFK to Orlando. The flight was nice and calm, which was a huge plus for me as I'm a major white knuckle flyer. We got in around 10:45 or so, picked up our car from National (which went very smoothly). We had gotten a great rate through Priceline. Everything was prepaid and it was a very simple process from National's counter to picking up our car. We got the car loaded up and we were on our way. It was so nice to be back in Orlando and on our way to my favorite place in the world. We were all so excited. We were staying our first night off site. My sister was booked at the Sheraton 4 points Lakeside and we were booked at the DoubleTree which had actually changed names from the time of our booking. I can't even remember what it's called now. I wasen't that impressed with the Four Points. It was okay, but it definitly wasen't a Disney Resort (which I happened to be a bit partial to) But we had also gotten a really great rate there through Priceline as well. My sister on the other hand liked her room there very much and thought it was comparable to the rooms at Coronado Springs Resort (I don't agree) Our room at the (then) Double Tree was okay, but I was anxiously awaiting checking in the following day at Old Key West. This would be our first stay there as we had become members of DVC earlier this year.
We checked into our rooms, freshened up a bit then headed over to Disney to check out Old Key West. I was so anxious to see the resort. We walked around a bit to explore. It's a very beautiful resort with a very nice atmosphere. Very laid back and tropical feeling. Beautiful landscaping and nice attention to detail. It has a very different feel then many of the other Disney resorts, but it is still very much "Disney" none the less. We ate lunch at Olivia's Cafe and we all found that to be quite enjoyable.
After lunch we headed back to our hotels for some rest. We were planning on heading over to MGM to see Fantasmic for our first evening.
We headed to MGM and got to the Fantasmic theater just about an hour before show time. Got ourselves some snacks and got really great seats right up front. The theater really filled up quickly and we were glad we arrived when we did. We were dissapointed though as there was no entertainment before the show like we had seen last year. There were some bellhops from Tower of Terror who enterained the crowd last year and they were very entertaining. It really helped pass the time.
Last year we arrived about 1/2 hour before showtime and got seats near the top and off to the right side a bit. We didn't think they were bad seats, but after this years experience, I would suggest to anyone to try to get there early to get seats closer to the front. What a difference. We were impressed with the show last year, but it was even more incredible this year with the closer seats. I couldn't beleive the difference it made. It was truely amazing and all of us loved every minute of it.
After the show we returned to our hotel to get a good night sleep as we had planned to do early entry at Magic Kingdom the following morning.
So we fell off to sleep, anxiously awaiting the 10 days that were ahead of us!

I was just watching our video from Fantasmic last night. I love that show! :)

Thanks for sharing your trip with us, Pixieduster. :)

We were able to "score" front row seats on the night we were there. What a show. Thanks for posting!
