Wonder, Waves and Wishes. 18th October 2009. Remembering the waves!

We are on this cruise (me, DH, my mom, DD (8) and DS (3). My MIL is also on this cruise with my SIL and my niece. They are Castaway Club members because they have sailed before. We are not. Our reservations are linked.

MIL can book at 90 days and I can book at 75. She has no desire to go to Palo. I logged into her reservation (she gave me the info, I am not a hacker or anything!). I thought about booking Palo for me and DH under her reservation, but it will only do it if we select MIL or SIL to eat with us. So, my question is this:

Can I book a reservation for three of us and then change it to just two when we get there? Or, alternatively, can I make a reservation for MIL and DH and then just go in MIL's place to dinner?

I'd make the ressie for MIL and your DH and go in her place. When we checked in they just asked us our cabin number. I'd just give them hers when they ask.:rolleyes1

What has everyone done in the past with their room keys while at CC? I am trying to figure out, do I just put it in my bag that we're carrying off the ship or do I buy something waterproof to keep around my neck.

We do both! :rotfl2:

No help, I know.....

DH and I both got the square "neck locker" things from Ron Jon before the last cruise. They're nice-a good souvie. I keep mine in the beach bag for the most part because it annoys me, but when we head into the water I take it out and put it on. When we get back to our chairs it goes back into the bag. It's pretty much that way at the pool too, if I can't keep an eye on my bag.

It would be far less annoying if it held my ipod too and kept it waterproof!

;)

If anyone is looking to kill time before heading to the port I would highly recommend going to the Ron Jon store. It's huge and neat to look around- everything watersports/beach is there. There's also a Walgreens across the street for any last minute pickup items.

Okay. I've been told that people just laid their bags on their chairs with cameras and cards in the bags and no one touched them. I'm only concerned when we are in the water. Is a neck locker flat?

The ones we have are fairly flat. Holds (if you had to cram it in there) an ID, KTTW, credit card, and some bills folded up. I use it instead of a wallet for my day bag at port too.

Do you really need it? Probably not. But I like keeping the KTTW card with me and shoving it in my swimsuit, well, let's just say I'd rather not be digging there while in line....;)

Room keys we bought the lanyards and wore them around our necks. We also put our credit cards in them for when we went off the ship along with ids. We never had a problem with our stuff on the beach but the only thing we took off the ship was towel and a camera. I was not willing to risk losing my ipod.

I liked being able to keep an eye on the people with disney lanyards, when I saw people leaving I knew it was time to head to the ship.

You mean there something wrong with that:confused3:rotfl2: I can just see trying to explain the tan lines. Is the pouch on the lanyards waterproof enough to hold the cards?

We just payed off the cruise today. Luckily we had over $400 on our Rewards card that we could use towards the trip. Every little bit helps!

Now I don't know if we're driving or flying down! I'm all set to drive, but now my DH wants to check into flying. Ack. I don't like changes!

And I still need to find a hotel to stay at the night before the cruise. I was planning on the Raddison, but I've been reading posts saying that their shuttle service is less than adequate lately. Any comments/suggestions?

It's amazing because I usually have planned every moment of a Disney trip by now. This time - nuthin'. I don't know whether to cry or panic...

COngrats on paying off the trip! And I guess the hotel would depend on if you're driving or flying.:confused3 Something at the airport with a shuttle or something at the port with a car... or something at the parks for the evening...:rolleyes1

Don't panic- good luck!

I'm so excited! We just got everything planned and payed and we just upgraded our room... we went for Cat. 10 to Cat 6.... I'm excited!

It is getting so excited. Has anyone gotten their passports back yet?

We are visiting family and family friends so that's where we're staying a couple of days before.

Argh - passports! I guess I know what I'll be doing today with the kids.

And I finally (re)convinced my DH to drive down. So, he said to find a hotel with a cruise pkg. that was the best deal. Now to get looking...

We are doing the passport thing too... Our one daughter, Rachelle has had her passport so she was fine. The rest of the family just got ours back... it only took about 3 weeks!

That's great that it only took three weeks. Were you watching the mail? I have prepared myself for 4-6 weeks so I'm not disappointed if it takes that long.

Ours came back in 4 weeks for both kids. I wasn't watching the mail, but there is a way to check the status of the application on line by plugging in the name and social security number (and yes, I checked more than once!)

Oddly we completely forgot about getting them hard to believe! But we are good now

Our passports took - get this - ELEVEN DAYS! Yep! Applied on 7/13 at the USPS and got them in the mail on 7/24. Unreal. I just need to get online & make my final payment for the cruise - cancel my POP reservations & rebook under the new discount codes and we'll be ready to roll!! :)

My mom is traveling with us and still doesn't have her passport. She assured me she had her birth certificate in order to apply, but when she showed it to me, it was only a teeny, tiny microfiche copy of the original! No raised seal, no original signatures, nada!

Even if she wanted to ditch on the idea of getting a passport and just wanted to travel using her driver's license and birth certificate, she would still need to get a copy with a raised seal. I'm hoping she is going to do as I say and trot herself down to the office of vital records this week. I would rather she apply for a passport and there is still time if she gets cracking.

I checked on ours today- they were delivered on the 23rd! So they'll be waiting when we get home!

Interesting note- DH found a 7 night Magic cruise on vacations to go email for $2200 for cat 6 for 2 adults! This was for mid-September! Wish I had the time and funds to go!:lmao:

That's great. I have an appt. tomorrow and DD has an appt on Saturday.
