Wonder to the Land of the Midnight Sun~~~August 20th 2012~~~

No, no pirate costumes yet...and yet we are cruising one month from today!! Ack! We're going to go pretty low key though because my little boy is scared of pirates and piratey things.

We did get our cruise documents in the mail earlier in the week though! Did everyone else get theirs? It actually was a let down because ours basically were just luggage tags. I booked all of our excursions outside of DCL so there really wasn't much in there besides the luggage tags...BORING! LOL! Oh well, at least it was Disney mail!

I ordered our FE from Gradysmommy on Etsy so I'm anxiously awaiting its arrival. I love the pictures of all her work, so I'm sure it will be great. I have to get working on our magnets, too. I just keep going back and forth on whether or not to laminate and then put magnets on them or whether I should print on magnetized paper. One way works for some people and one way works for others. Ugh!

Magnets? Guess I haven't seen anything about those. Would you provide an explanation?

Stateroom doors are magnetized and you can decorate the outside of your door if you wish--using only magnets...no tape or anything like that. Go look in the main forum and you'll find a few threads (that is an understatement!) with ideas. There are people who love to make magnets for other folks and you can print out their designs (often called DISigns here on the Dis-boards) to use on your door.

There is a thread that shows people's doors. It is interesting to look at the variety of door decorations...some people go *crazy* with the magnets. I'm going for a more subdued approach. LOL!

The catch, however, is that apparently the more coats of paint your door has had, the less magnetized it is...

Okay, here is a link to the current "Cruise Magnets" thread...

Oh and I like the Google Docs idea. I've seen that on a few other groups and it seems to work well. Anyone want to take care of setting that up so that people can post their info? I don't know if it is something where only the people in our group get the password to it or something? I have no clue, really.

Tom & I would like to do the FE. We don't know our cabin number yet. We are heading out for a 4 night camping trip to Sequoia and won't have email for a few days. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi...

We are excited to be going on our first cruise! We are from Seattle, traveling with my husband, son(7). My girlfriend and her family will also be on the cruise.

Looking forward to meet everyone. We like to join the FE list.

Jen

Welcome, Jen! I'll add you to the FE list. I need your stateroom number, too. (I'm guessing that you are just signing you and your family up for the FE, though.)

Less than a month to go!

Thanks DisSarahK

Yes, only my family for the FE. Will tell my girlfriend to sign up by the 31st if she wants to join in on the fun.

Will keep you posted on our room number.

Jen

A plea: Could someone please take on the organizing of the fish extender? I'm happy to keep updating the list if you wish (or you can post/update the list). I've never done this before, but here is what I *think* is required. I think there generally is a meet on the cruise ship (that not everyone attends--and I know my family wouldn't be attending) but this is important because some people won't know their room numbers until the very last minute, especially if they update at the port. The person with the list also will have the updated list posted on their stateroom door for everyone.

Please post if you are willing to do this--and post if you know exactly how all this works. I think a lot of us are very new at this!

This is our first cruise and thought it would be fun to do the exchange. What do I need to know and do to participate?

No, it isn't too late to sign-up. We set a cut-off date of July 31st. There is info in the main forum on what Fish Extenders are and what gifts are exchanged.

Please introduce yourself and your family!

I don't believe in posting too much personal info and we are from Western WA. Reisdawg =husband, Mom - me, DD, DS. We are also travelling with my parents. This is our first cruise, but we have done WDW in 95 (honeymoon), 04, 05, 09/10, Jan 11, Nov 11, and DL 05, 07 and just bought into DVC.

We really like the way Disney does vacations and the overall feel of a Disney vacation. Looking forward to the cruise and DH is addicted to these boards.

My family and I will be on this cruise. It's our first cruise and we're actually from Victoria, BC - the last port on the trip. Trying to make up my mind on the fish extender thing as I just found out about it recently and it doesn't feel like a lot of time to prepare. I thought perhaps people might like some Victoria knick-knacks though = since it's one of the stops, although the timing is odd.

It'll be myself, my two daughters, and my mother.

Welcome Reisdawg and Ilion!

You both are welcome to join the FE ~ and I completely understand about not wanting to share too much personal info on public boards, Reisdawg. Just so you know, your info will be shared with people doing the exchange. You can go to the Google spreadsheet link to see exactly what info will be shared. The info is necessary (including your first and last name) in case your cabin number gets changed on the day of boarding.

I did the form and was okay with the personal info there knowing its locked down. Just know on public boards there are lurkers wanting to be less than honest.

Looking forward to the exchange and creating a FE and magnets for our cabin door.
